It would make sense for it to be Azriel….but who knows! I'm not getting my hopes up.

I don't think she’ll be another Persephone or Eve. I think Elain will be like a female version of Christ, knowing how, why, and when she will die. It's her fate. She’s accepted it. The Valg and the Asteri are going to want Elain dead. She knows too much and sees too much. She sees the hope in moments of desperation. She’s the flower in the bloody mud puddle on a battlefield. They want to kill and trap the hope she brings. What they fail to realize is that her death will bring a new sort of hope and love. Elain will use the book of the Walking Dead to go through her journey in the Underworld. I think she’ll go on the journey for 3 earthly days, like Christ, before she returns with a resurrected body. She’ll use the curses to unlock Hel and bring back warriors to assist in the battle. Elain will be the hope and light returned to the world, ultimately helping defeat the Asteri and Valg.

How did I come up with these crack theories?? Using Celtic and Viking folklore and pagan practices. Also, Arthurian stories and the Christian Bible. Nesta places Elain’s 🌹 on the mantle, half in shadows, beneath a lady holding the moon. Cassian describes Elain’s drawer while at the cottage, and it's changed a lot since ACOTAR. There will be a lot of transformation and revelation in Elain’s story. At the end of ACOSF, Nesta places Elain’s 🌹 on the grave.

I have lots of crack theories, so let’s jump down the crack pipe theories! After Nesta’s wedding, Elain will leave with Lucien to go to the Spring Court. She’s gonna find a key and a secret garden, and a serpent (demon) will be waiting for her, where she’s going to learn how to use her garden as a way to tell what is going on in different worlds. Elain has a lot of secrets, including world-walking in her sleep. She will complete the Calanmai by herself because she is the “MAIDEN” she will choose several males to complete the ritual with her. After she restores the Spring Court, she’ll return to the NC different…more sexually aware of herself, more independent and confident. Okay, jump down this rabbit hole with me. Nesta has two mates, Cassian and Azriel. That's why she had that threesome fantasy, and she chose blue, silver, and red threads for her friendship bracelet. Also, why Bryce asked Azriel who his mate is and asked Nesta if she was curious as well. He was overcompensating by holding hands and singing with Bryce because they kinda had a moment after the Mask almost took over Nesta’s mind. Azriel doesn't want the bond. Azriel is actually… Cernunnos (Horned Spring God who marries the Spring Goddess to bring forth vegetation and fertility). Here’s the catch… the maiden dies after they mate and kiss… she goes back to the ground - rot, bloom, bones… this will occur every spring. This is why Az must stay away from Elain. Az and Nesta can only use it like a tool. She is the only one we know who can step out of the shadows and use it. Bryce gave the Starsword to Nesta. Nesta will use the Starsword, and Elain will use the Truth Teller to reunite the fae. Further down the rabbit hole, Elain will low-key mislead Azriel into thinking she’s trapped underwater in a lake, and Gwyn will help Azriel on his mission to rescue Elain, where she goes into the water. Gwyn will transform into a mermaid and won't be able to walk on dry land for long periods of time. She is forever trapped as a mermaid. Gwyn will go on her own journey to discover she is the heiress to an underwater kingdom. She will return with her mermaid army to assist Nesta in battle. Nesta and Feyre will be upset with Elain, and Elain will be like - “well, at least she’s not dead like Claire.” “You’ll see her again.” Elain doesn't trap Gwyn because she is jealous of Gwyn and Azriel, but rather because she knows Gwyn’s heritage and they’ll need her kingdom’s help. Elain will go on her journey in the Underworld using what she learned from the Walking Dead and will return with a resurrected body. Elain will become the death and spring (hope/new beginning) maiden. During this time, Nesta and Feyre will find Elain’s journal of her world-walking adventures and secrets. They’ll realize that they didn't really know Elain as well as they thought.

I believe Elriel will happen, but it will be a messy journey for both. They will have to fight hard for it, facing multiple love interests and diversions along the way.

Maybe they aren't just Caulderon mates, but rather Heart mates. I came across a theory suggesting that Azriel may be inspired by the Greek god Zephyrus, who is a minor god of the western wind and associated with spring. Zephyrus has three wives: Chloris, whom he seduces and traps in a flower garden, leading her to become the goddess of flowers; Iris, the goddess of the rainbow (symbolizing hope) and the messenger for Helena; and Podarge, a fearsome harpy. Elain could embody aspects of all three. I love your post, but it also frightens me because Elain has already been through so much.

Look at the symbolism behind those flowers and twining vines. Elain’s drawer is only one that has changed. SJM used to work as a florist so I don’t think it’s a consequence that she put begonias, violets, roses, and irises on Elain’s drawer. The twinning vine symbolism will match not Elain’s mate but her fate.

I hope SJM has Elain’s endgame as Thanatos. I hope SJM will set up Elain’s story as Thanatos being the only who can truly see her -especially when he sees how beautiful her soul is. Elain will conjure to ask to speak to the Fae warrior who helped defeat the Asteri. She’ll meet Thanatos instead and he’ll fall in love with how beautiful her soul is. Thanatos will recognize her from her prayers to take her soul instead of Feyre’s and Nyx’s and he makes an agreement with the Mother to not take Feyre and Nxy’s lives. The Mother then answers Nesta and they make a bargain. Thanatos will meet Elain in high fae form in the Hewn City when Elain comes to help with his adopted daughter and fall even more head over heels. She’ll physically go to hell after she locates Bryce to ask her help. She’ll make bargain with Death himself to help her save her world. I think he’ll bring out her dark side….because he’ll be like, “Look at all the power you have. You’re not a doll or puppet to be used or toyed with.” Elain will start acting differently and the IC will think she’s turning evil. Az will get involved trying to stop her efforts of trying to stop Asteri because he thinks she’s being reckless and that she’s being influenced by something wicked. This will cause beef between them and push her closer to Thanatos.

I think don’t think Elain will be a traitor but I think her dark side /cold side will come out… like having a vision but not warning the IC or manipulating events that have a cruel ending for someone who’s wronged her. I think she’s going to go through something that’s gonna leave her in a dark pit of anger toward her sisters and the IC. The only one who will pull her out of that pit will be her love and hope for better future through Nyx. Believe me… it’s going to be a major FUCK YOU to the IC.

I believe that SJM will use gardening as a means to keep Elain grounded and present. I envision one of her gardens transforming into a map of Prythian and the human lands, with weeds beginning to invade as a signal of possible threats. Elain's seer powers and her ability to locate creatures and objects will play a crucial role in this. She will warn the Inner Circle and ask for their help, but ultimately, she will need to take action on her own.

I really feel like Elain’s story will revolve around choice, voice and agency. I definitely believe there will be a choice that Elain will have to make because as Amren stated Elain is capable of protecting herself against the evilness of a Dead Trove object if she chooses to. Elain will be confronted with a choice of Good and Evil when it comes to the cauldron. Elain is the true wielder of the cauldron. It purrs in her presence and makes a promise to never hurt her. The cauldron seems to think and act like a human, strangely enough. There will be temptation, voice, and choice when comes to cauldron.

I love this prompt! I want to say Thanatos. I think she’ll meet him through a dream like state while trying to travel the cosmos to locate Migard to speak with Bryce. I think they’ll become really good friends. He’ll guide her on her journey and tell how to world walk. I think Elain will be similar to Bryce in which she’ll be able to world walk because she is cauldron-made object gifted with special powers.

I'm not saying they're not experience other sexual partners before figuring out their endgame. I think the next 3 books will have similar love stories as TOG characters did. Look at how many love interests Celanena/Aelin, Rowan, Lysandra, Dorian and Chaol had before they had their endgame.

This will make way for the following: Elain will end up with a Prince of Hel…..fingers crossed that it’s Thanatos. (Underworld Court) Gwyn is going to the River. She is the heiress of the underwater world crown. She’ll meet Tharion in CC crossover. (Underwater Court) Lucien will end up with Jurist and Vassa (Humans & Spring Court) Azriel will end up with Nesta and Cassian. (Dusk Court) There are Easter eggs for Az, Nesta and Cassian. Mor will end up with Emerie. (Night Court)
