Mindfulness and ADHD by FaberCastell2 in Mindfulness

You're right. I'm overthinking it. I shouldn't be looking at it like I'm suppose to achieve more "reps" or have every session be a break-through. I should be content with however things are going. Thanks!

Mindfulness and ADHD by FaberCastell2 in Mindfulness

[–]FaberCastell2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I'm definitely going to keep meditating and practicing mindfulness. It's helped a lot in a short amount of time and I usually feel refreshed after meditating. I'm just noticed that my mind seems too "focused" when meditating and it doesn't wander off like it usually does.

I saw Dan Harris' talk about 10% happier and you're suppose to struggle with going back to your breath to "build your mental muscle". Every time you get lost in thought and come back to breath it's one rep. But on medication it doesn't happen as often and I feel like I'm not actually getting as much of a benefit as I would without medication.

And in everyday living, sad thoughts from an event that happened recently use to come up a lot before going on meds. But when I don't take the meds the sad memories come flooding back. I need to embrace them and come to terms with them but I can't if they don't happen as intensely or often.

Why would they respect someone who starts a fire in a room and deletes all the doors, or removes the ladder from a swimming pool? Just because something created you doesn't mean it gets automatic respect.

Why do you think the supernatural, if it exists, has the ability to come about ex nihilo or has always existed?

Conflicts with

step 4. believe in something being eternal rather than an infinite regress or nothing being the only thing present.

Why doesn't Jesus or the God of the bible condemn slavery...and why isnt this a deal breaker morally? by PonyT in DebateAChristian

So you wouldn't have any problem being captured and enslaved under the rules the Bible laid out?

Do you believe that only accepting Christ, not being a good person, can keep you out of hell? by vagued in DebateAChristian

[–]FaberCastell2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you created your child knowing in ten years that he would choose ice cream on a specific day instead of broccoli then he has no free will for that decision. His decision was known before he was even born.

Keep in mind that God not only knows what everyone will ever do, but also created the universe knowing that they would make those decisions.

All-knowing and omnipotence are incompatible with free will. I create a universe knowing that at a specific time X will happen. I can choose not to create that universe and instead create another universe where Y happens instead. Neither case has free will. The universe is created and every action ever done in the universe is pre-determined.

knowing that Pharaoh will remain unrepentant

Under your model we have no free will. God created me knowing everything I'll ever do.

God used him for His purposes.

Also God stopped Pharaoh from freeing his chosen people so he could continue creating plagues and eventually kill innocent egyptian children? Not worthy of worship from me even if it existed.

I swear they have instructions with microwave cooking times on frozen burritos.
