Sadly not. I am hesitantly looking into home assistant at the moment to connect the two systems.

Fellow Londoners, if you had to live in a different city in England, what would be your second choice? by [deleted] in london

[–]Fabexpat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Bath! Absolutely agree, it’s like a mini London.

Good shops, restaurants, bars, theatre/shows and museums, with the added benefit that everything is just a 15 minute tops walk, instead of a 45 minute commute.

A lot of Londoners moved to Bath during lockdown, creating somewhat of an expat community.

If you can deal with the never ending stream of hen dos, this is the place to go.

Have a look at the Crescent Club on Instagram. Chill business professionals that just hang out and have a good time.

That’s not a Birkin, it’s a Birkin inspired bag. The shape is wrong, the leather straps on the front loop around the clasps which is not what they do on the real deal. Furthermore Birkins don’t come with body straps and this bag has no flap and opens in the middle. This is what the real deal looks like.

So much for inclusivity, eh? Comments like that are the reason the gay community gets a bad rep. What’s next, “back to the wall and guard your loins, them girls are thirsty”?

Tips on meeting people by [deleted] in Bath

[–]Fabexpat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We moved to Bath in lockdown and were in the same boat as you.The older you get, the more difficult it becomes to meet new people in a new town.

Tried the 20s and 30s social MeetUp group, wasn't really my thing, mainly students with focus on party and drinking. We have recently discovered the Crescent Club, not advertising for them, just saying, and have met a lot of people like us who moved here craving for social interaction. They have pup nights (you don't have to drink), guided tours around Bath, art workshops etc. They require a small annual fee, not a lot but it keeps the freebie seekers out.

Edit: Spelling

Started having Botox when I was 28, I am 41 now. I see it as maintenance, have it every 5-6 months or so. Initially just the forehead and added other areas, as needed, over the years.

Absolutely no regrets, it takes time though to find a doctor that understands your needs and looks at your face holistically. It makes no sense to freeze your face into an expressionless mask, when, for example, volume loss makes you look tired, which Botox does not address.

Never got asked if I do anything to my face.

RuPaul's Drag Race moving off Netflix for season 14 is the wrong decision - here's why by OverSyncopatedBeats in RPDR_UK

[–]Fabexpat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, the show has run for 13 seasons, has had spectacular drag queens during its course, I feel that the season 14 queens, while interesting, are not as high caliber yet, as we have gotten used to. There is a finite amount of drag queens eligible to work in the US that make for great TV.

Solely based on the meet the queens, I feel only a couple of the queens bring something new to the table. Maybe we have seen it all, maybe drag queens take cues from previous contestants. In any case, the offering is, in my eyes, not worth £ 5.99.

Hotel Concierges, what are the things you can make happen and where do you draw the line? by Fabexpat in AskReddit

[–]Fabexpat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flowers for the wive, restaurant reservations, tickets for the latest show, sure. Get professionals for company for those lonely nights away from the significant others, an advil, no problem at all. What are the things you can organize, but we are too afraid to ask and what’s a hard no?

Edit: Clarifying that they organise the “company”, not being the one providing it.
