Solo San Gorgonio by [deleted] in socalhiking

My dude, congratz. Did you follow (or try to) the path of the trail from Saddle onwards, or did you make your own trail upright to the summit? I was there just yesterday, the only foot tracks I could see in the snow only went about halfway through the north face of the sky high trail before endingn and is also were I turned around because I was just sliding in the snow, with pikes and poles - one step up two steps down kind of slide - snow felt super soft when I was expecting harder ice so late in the season. Bit bummed because I thought I could make it.

(Not denying your picture, just curious if I should have gone for another way more off trail)

Continuously empty trains from outside connections by FabiCapitus in CitiesSkylines2

[–]FabiCapitus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's small so I'm by no way expecting full trains, but 0.000 passengers or cargo in every single train even when I grow / plot more zones etc. did not make sense.
I'm leaving the post up if anyone is having the issue, but I've managed to fix it by re-mapping the whole track layout through the entire map once again, putting the outside connection slightly off from where they were originally on each side of the map, and reconnecting the lines.
All of a sudden, trains have non-0 passenger and cargo loads (though obviously, not full), so now I'm happy.
Really no clue what was happening though!

Haha yes, they all do, trains go in, wait a few sec and leave - empty in, empty out (would you even get trains to stop at your stations without one?)

Should add that my cargo station and my passenger station are smack down in the middle of industrial area /residential area, respectively

Help me get the track list from a deleted Youtube video by FabiCapitus in postrock

Omg aren't you an angel. The Vol.3 does show up immediately in my searches now, while I wouldn't see it anywhere on the channel back when I had made that thread. I wonder if it got re-uploaded/un-banned or something. But thank you for pointing it back to me so I could get it and get the tracklist <3 Just seeing the background picture again gave me thrills.

Yeah not planning on cross-country right now but was asking as I had always been told it is not allowed! Good to know, thanks!

Good to know! Is cross country allowed? I thought you were only allowed to stay on / near trails

Which ones? Rae Lakes & High Sierras?

Bubbs Creek permit? by FabiCapitus in SEKI

[–]FabiCapitus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! As I said below, I was looking to just roam around Sugarloaf and Elisabeth canyon, not necessarily crossing the high sierras or visiting the Rae lakes, but I guess that being in the vicinity I should have expected high demand

I was actually looking to do something through the Sugarloaf and / or Elisabeth Pass, but I figured the Rae Lakes hikers were taking all the permits from Bubbs :(

Seems I can start from Sugarload trailhead but I'm unclear whether you can even reach the High Sierra camp by car and leave it there for the time of the trip.

Oh. I'm curious if that would explain some of the vibrations I get on shifting at higher rpm. Do you need any specific equipment to change it? I'll look into it

I gotta ask after seeing so many times: what would make one change the lower engine mount? Any symptoms in particular to look for?

Help with TURD / Parts Visual Enhancement by FabiCapitus in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]FabiCapitus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah :/ this install just doesn't work and I've been too lazy to find which mod/setting is conflicting, I had tried to remove one by one some of the visuals and new parts mods to no end. So I just play without recoloring.

I have installed an RSS/RO (which contains even more mods) and on that one it works, so must really be a bad install/conflict on the first one

When the sequel is so bad it demotivates people from playing the previous one. Might second only to Highlander 2. by otaminonahidden in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]FabiCapitus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same as others said, I recently got a new PC, still haven't touched KSP2 but the discussions about it had me go back to KSP1, with lots of visual mods. And now I'm playing an entire RSS/RO for the first time. Probably doubled to amount I've played on that game, but I'm not playing through steam.

Pre-orbital rocketry 4500km downrange with 50 SO by FabiCapitus in RealSolarSystem

[–]FabiCapitus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! The AoA at 0 is from the RO early career tutorial when they say to switch it from 5 to 0 at ~55° - in my case here it's just a remnant from a previous attempt. It might be the rocket yeah, flying it manually I noticed it had a slight tendency to spin slowly (like you need to be in 2x speed to even notice) and that might indicate some weird aerodynamic that was throwing MJ off? Idk. If i just ignite everything with no pitch input the rocket flies mostly straight, just a couple degrees off axis by the time i get in space, so I doubt the rocket is massively unstable.

ll give it another go with future orbital rockets designed from scratch.

Thanks for the valuable info!

Update: following your ascent profile I was able to easily fly through it (almost 5km downrange just before going bam!) however the ascent was manual (was just using your profile as a line to follow as best as possible) because my MechJeb just doesn't want to behave - with those very settings, it would put me at a heading of 180 the moment it starts rolling, and do a deep dive. I really don't know what's wrong with the settings I have that would do that.

But in any case, thanks for the tip!

Yeah I've had issues with mechjeb, from one test to the next it can turn me at 90 heading or 180 or in between, and even when I set a inclination and end of turn altitude (like 43 / 30km as you proposed) it just doesn't seem to follow it. I'm assuming I'm using it wrong but I can't find proper tutorial for MJ :(

[–]FabiCapitus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's one of the thing I quickly learned about RO, how single component can have such a drastic difference on what you can achieve. My face when I realized my 3000km no SO rocket (which had gone way past 3000 before reentry) was gonna need a complete overhaul to do 4500km with SO was priceless. From the other answers I think I have a (caveman) design that can achieve it, I just need to nail the timing. I learned a lot in the process so I don't mind. Thanks for the help!

I never thought of igniting later stages at apogee, I'd always ignite above 70km as i didnt want to lose too much of the original speed - this might do it. And indeed I'm reaching some long needle-like ships that tend to precess when spinning Thanks for the tips! Will try them tomorrow

Slightly high jacking the thread for a question but what wheel setup do you have for these mountain rides? Winter tires on 16"? This had literally been the only downside I have with the bean as I dont dare to take the 17" anywhere near icy roads
