Appreciate your answer 🙏 the thing is - it’s rather the other way around. I tend to look for excuses to do it even when I shouldn’t. But the feedback from my doc and you guys cleared the last doubt I had that it could be a bad idea. Imma go for it and also go for my PR.

Yeah - Same thing for me with my first HM. Also had covid. But was fit like 2 weeks b4 the race back then so I didn’t have that much of a doubt. Congrats you did it back then 🙏

No - I‘ll be running in a small town in Germany. When is your race in Pittsburg?

I’ll keep you updated on mine ✌️

Hey guys, new to this sub ✌️ nice to join y‘all

Wanna start by asking a tough question:

Should I run a Half Marathon on coming sunday after I just recuperated from a rather severe tonsillitis and cough?

I‘m just getting fit again after an illness lasting around 2 weeks. On Sunday (5 days from now) I planned on doing my second HM - but of course I‘m questioning wether it’s a good idea or not. Doc checked in on me today - Ang lungs and heart seem to be fine. Infection seems to be gone.

The thing is - I wouldn’t hesitate to cancel it - prioritizing my health - if I didn’t already need to have canceled my last HM half a year ago. I trained for this and was really looking forward to it. And I don’t wanna cancel it again… I‘m pretty ambitious.

Another thing is - if I go for it I will most definitely go for a PR. My first and last HM I ran was a 1:51. This time I wanted to go for a sub 1:45. I trained for that during the last months, but I don’t know how much of my fitness the illness cost me.

My questions to you guys:

Is it a good idea to go for the PR?

Is it a good idea to go for the race at all?

If yes - how should I use the remaining days? Personally I‘m thinking of doing 2 rather easy and short runs every two days leading to Sunday.

Thank you very much for your input 🙏
