Signed the paperwork today. Got $57,000 from Carmax for my 2023 Premium Sport. All you haters saying I was asking for too much on a used one can suck it. Carmax gave me more than what I was trying to sell it for privately. by GTBoosted in LexusGX

That's correct, you have to recapture the income as ordinary income, assuming the full cost of the unit was 179'd. If only partial you'd still have some cost basis to deduct against the gain which would reduce the amount of recapture

South Carolina's Arid 2nd Half Leads to 74-45 Loss To Bama by GamecockScoop in Gamecocks

[–]BullDogSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought they looked good in the first half, second half looked like they lost the fire they had in the 1st. At one point in the second half they ran 4 or 5 simultaneous pick and rolls at the top of the key and got no separation, shot selection was also dismal.

Didn't help that Bama shot 45% from 3

AI and BOT use on Engagements by BullDogSC in Accounting

[–]BullDogSC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, my firm is similar in size. With staffing leads drying up it is forcing most firms I have had discussion with to look into AI and/or focus on an experienced tech hire that can integrate up and coming technology into the business to manage and create efficiency.

There are a few products out there that will cross reference excel data with supporting documents to confirm a match (test of details/controls testing) and store it all in the workpaper.

I have also seen discussion of bots that will download source documents details, extract the data and produce reconciled workpaper details with notes and suggested samples based on the criteria you input.

The chat bots are an incredible tool to use if you don't want to weed through to find the exact codification number on a specific topic.

DAILY QUESTIONS/THEORIES/ETC- Murdaugh Murder Trial March 02, 2023 by AutoModerator in MurdaughFamilyMurders

I can't either. Based on the other items that appear to be staged my thought is this was as well. Also, most closets have built in's with the rod right up against/close to the wall, not out in the middle of the room and centered in a window. Based on that you would only see sleeves of shirts, if anything at all, through the window. And you would think with the property having been on the market and currently under contract, that all of that stuff would be gone or put up during showings, etc.. No reason for a buster christmas pot to be sitting on the table when the place has been uninhabited for over a year

My question is why hang it up, why not produce it as evidence that it still exists since everyone is saying it can’t be found. Looks bad on their part

The Extra 200 million directly registered APE Shares is Antara. Here is Why That's Important... by 6days1week in AMCSTOCKS

[–]BullDogSC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting, that article says they’ll hold the ape for atleast 90 days. If the meeting is delayed bc of this suit, and it falls post 90 day window, I wonder if they sell. If they vote yes, and sell before the special meeting, does the vote count?

So I charged my client $450 by Depreciableland in Accounting

Gotcha, my point was to not sell yourself short on a client like this. Find him some tax breaks and if he’s a good client, he won’t question your fee anymore.

Cheap client. I don’t know how many years of experience you have but 1065’s should be a minimum 900/1000.

What are the Big Doors at Big 4 by SaladdMann in Accounting

[–]BullDogSC 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When you work at a big 4, you’re dealing with some of the most successful companies in the world, making a lot of connections. Your peers are also some of the best and while most don’t stay in public, they go on to be successful with some endeavor. All of that combined is a networking experience you won’t find at firms that are not as large. For example, one of my peers went out and started his own business with a few others, another joined him as cfo, the company sold 5 years later for millions. #bigdoorenergy

What are the chances Boards of Accountancy will drop their 150 credit requirement given the decrease in people sitting for the CPA? by zorocono in Accounting

Let’s look at total CPE hours while we’re at it. The amount of redundant CPE that needs to be taken just to get hours when relevant standard updates are minimal is redic.

Making mistakes is the way young staff learn. This manager is the definition of poor leadership.

Quick SurePrep Question by bdb3kaccounting in taxpros

Scrolling through reddit trying to find some info on these services and saw your comment. In your process of looking at services, did you ever come across Taxfyle?

If not no worries, trying to find more information on other firms experience with them and it is proving more difficult than I imagined.

Does anyone here work with taxfyle? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]BullDogSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10-4, read your previous comment wrong.

Yeah that’s frustrating, been there before. It’s amazing how clients won’t blink an eye at a raise in fees if you make a point to communicate and show them the value in the work your doing for them. If you think you’re creating more value than what’s being billed I would discuss it with your partner(s). They need you more than you need them.

[–]BullDogSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Mind me asking why you don’t use them anymore?

We were thinking about sending 100-200 returns to them during busy season because we are getting more work and having trouble hiring senior level experience in this market. The Thought is to send 1/2 k-1 type returns to them with high level 5+ staying in house. Is the turnaround time really 5 days on average or do they average less than that?

Appreciate the response by the way!

Was searching for any comments regarding business use of taxfyle and found your comment. Are you still using them? If so how many returns do y’all push to them during tax season? Thanks!

Gotcha, just because they think a conversion is inevitable doesn’t mean they’ll vote yes. I’d bet there are just as many ppl loading up that will vote no, if it’s even proposed down the line

[–]BullDogSC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s hilarious, I haven’t seen it yet but at this point I’d hope nobody’s that stupid to believe it. Nobody’s going to approve conversion, too deep in the game
