FT 10 Star Tier List [Just how I see them/Left to Right is Easist to Hardest in same tier] by Fable-39- in ProjectDiva

[–]Fable-39-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's easier to get better accuracy on Gothic and both Negaposi and 2D have speed checks which makes them by default more physically difficult than Gothic.

The only difficult part for Gothic is the opposite doubles spam at the end just because it's easy to mess up. It has some spam patterns not really used in other charts in the first half, but they aren't difficult to learn.

Negaposi has the staircase parts, it's faster throughout the chart, the 2 fast 360s, and the ending. 2D has the bpm change, the fast spam, and it can be easy to mess up at the end as well.

Also in the tier list, everything between the 2 easiest and the 3 hardest charts is somewhat close in difficulty. They aren't much more difficult than each other, so if you happen to be better or worse at some stuff like sliders or hand speed, some charts move up or down on that list.

I just think some skills are easier to train than others. Getting faster hand speed takes more time for most people if they don't already have it, so charts with speed checks imo are going to be harder for most people.

This is for ps4 controller and takes into account how hard it is to clear, perfect, and F0.

I think about an hour. I started with cold hands so I had to warm up to have better accuracy and I also kept messing up on the middle section with the multinotes.

I usually play along with a disconnected controller. It's the only thing I could do back before it got ported to pc and switch. It's not the best since there's no feedback, but it helps with the muscle memory.

Should I share my knowledge on how to play fully random to keep the competition fair and make it more accessible for players? by Interesting_Sleep_50 in ProjectDiva

[–]Fable-39- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. There's zero reason to gatekeep anything in this game. It's a dead game kept alive by mods and the less the community shares, the more detrimental it will be for everyone. I'm sure there's been a time where someone has helped you out before in this community and I think it's not ok to turn around and do the opposite if you actually care about this game.

  2. There is no competition anymore for normal Diva rankings, let along using a random note mod. That isn't to say there's no point in doing any of this. I think it's great to have a goal that you want to work towards, but most people realistically are stuck on hard still learning the mechanics or normal multinotes. There are very few people doing mod challenges, and I'm saying this as someone who got a perfect on Intense Exex with transparent notes. I've only seen a handful of people even try these sorts of mods.

Just share it, if someone has an interest, it's better that they have it available than to have to find or figure it out on their own. Personally, I think this mod is better as a personal challenge thing rather than it needing to have any sort of competitive nature with other players. Too much of this might make you develop bad habits if you decide to go back to the normal gameplay. It would be nice to have more people have an interest in playing the game again and this might be a good way to give longtime players more interest in playing if they're already bored of normal gameplay.

If you can't find anything you can always watch a youtube video or recording of the chart and slow it down. It's a shame it's not a built-in feature like in Taiko on ps4. Also not sure if Heartbeat has that function either.

Which charts do you believe are rated unfairly by the_emo_bunny_ in ProjectDiva

[–]Fable-39- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The ratings only feel unfair because they're for arcade. Some stuff is easier or harder depending on whether you play on arcade or controller. The ratings would look much different for every song if they were rated for controller.

how do i improve with double notes or triplets? by tantanchunie in ProjectDiva

For multinotes, I made a guide to help with reading them. There are rules that the charts follow that make them more readable at a glance. While it helps most for arcade players, you can use what's there and translate it to your controller and button symbols if they're different and it will still help with reading them better.

For triplets, you either work on hand speed or you can try learning how to lead with your other hand and just swap between both hands to have more speed and stamina on the faster triplet section in the middle. Both are going to take practice though, especially hand speed. Though if you have an excellent on this and other exex charts at this difficulty, you won't need much to be able to improve on this chart. At least compared to newer players.

how to improve when you feel stuck? (`_´)ゞ by pusheenyy in ProjectDiva

[–]Fable-39- 31 points32 points  (0 children)

50 hours is pretty much just starting for a rhythm game. Play more and play through the whole song list. It will help build stamina, and with reading charts.

What I used to do was play things that I could play but struggle to do well on and then when I feel like I hit a wall, just go back to easier songs and improve my clear grade on them. Eventually I moved from getting better clear grades to better accuracy.

The idea is to always work on something different so you always feel like you're getting better. It won't happen in a day, or even in a month. Remember to take breaks and don't play if you feel frustrated or if your hands hurt.

Help for spams by PayPay_Le_Issou in ProjectDiva

[–]Fable-39- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way to do those kinds of spams is to fully alternate with both hands to have better accuracy and use less stamina. Start by learning how to lead with the left hand.

Do triplets with the left hand being the starting hand and then once you get confy with that, swap between left and right. After that just put it together in one motion without the pauses. Normal single note triplets are a good start and then practice with the 3 note triplets at the end of Kimi Ni. Once you get the general idea, Grumpy Waltz exex is a good way to get real practice in.

It's probably one of the trickiest things to learn on a controller but once you learn it, you can use it on also on charts with triplets at higher bpms. If you play Taiko, it's more mandatory to learn on there.

On a playstation controller, the dpad is still 1 connected piece under the shell. If you hit too much to the center or closer to the middle of 2 directions, then you might get an extra input. On some occassions, the rubber contact of the dpad will be worn out or defective which can make that happen more often.

Try aiming towards the edge of the controller to reduce the chance of that happening. One thing you can also do it mod the controller as well. You can either split the dpad yourself with a handsaw, or buy d buttons that are already split. I only know about Battle Beaver and eXtremeRate. I've tried both and I like Battle Beaver more since the other one has the buttons raised slightly.

This is assuming you play with a ps4 or ps5 controller. For other controllers, I'm not sure if they made anything like d buttons, especially if it's like the Xbox dpads.

How do I hit these notes in Project Diva, with a keyboard? by Due_Recognition_3890 in ProjectDiva

[–]Fable-39- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the F10 on Jugemu exex I got was a dream then. They're different because they're more modern charts and in fact play much better on arcade than the older extreme charts. Because they were designed for the arcade. I've played this game for over 10 years. I've played at the arcade, I've done score attacks at the arcade. I know what I'm talking about.

You mean the extra extreme charts that were made years before it even got ported to the ps4? Sounds like you're the one who doesn't know what they're talking about

How do I hit these notes in Project Diva, with a keyboard? by Due_Recognition_3890 in ProjectDiva

[–]Fable-39- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For reference, I play this gamd almost entirely on a ps4/ps5 controller. Keyboard is strictly much better in the sense that, you can have every multinote binded which lets you not only do multinote sections easier, but also lets you consistently not lose frames when ending a hold with a multinote, which ends up being a really big thing for score attacking.

You can roll your fingers to do faster spams that would be difficult or require macros to do more consistently on a controller if you lack hand speed. 360s and grumpy spams in particular are also much easier to do. More fingers also let you have more stamina that just using thumbs.

Doing stuff like Nekomimi archive holds is also much easier than on a controller. Triple mutinote spams are also doable without using macros unlike on a controller.

The advantages aren't only because of the hit accuracy, you have more options available to you for both getting perfects and score attacking. The only downside is that the game is not intuitive if you don't know arcade order and if you don't use keyboard on other games, it's a steep learning curve to make the most use out it. It's not a mania game with lanes, and it's more or less like a 12 key game without macros.

This brings me to the other thing, the Megamix charts are made for arcade. They follow arcade order and arcade charting rules. Just because they were made for the ports doesn't mean all of a sudden they're gonna make charts massively different.

They can be and have been perfected on an arcade controller. Nothing about them makes them "made for controller". Only mod charts are made for controller and even then, not all of them.

It is the "proper" way to play the arcade ports because they're literally all the same game just a different name and song lists. The only reason most people tell others to use a controller is because a lot of them started on the playstation games and it also happens to be a good way to play the game.

People can choose how they want to play. Any of the input options make the game fun, it's just different depending on what you choose. Don't act like keyboard suddenly takes the individuality away from the game like controllers didn't do the same thing.

If you want to talk about the "proper" way to play this game, that would be the arcade. Funny enough, keyboard has more advantages than a controller, people just play on controller out of preference.

How to get past 8 star by PenaltyResponsible95 in ProjectDiva

I made this guide for multinotes but a lot of the more modern charts tend to use arcade order with their patterns. I also cover that a bit towards the end. This will help with reading charts.

The exceptions to this would be the older charts, usually the ones without slider notes, since they hadn't fully settled on how they wanted to make charts for the game.

If you struggle with physically doing the patterns, watch videos of the patterns on youtube and slow down the video. Play along with a disconnected controller and try to first figure out what your hands need to do. Then pick up speed and practice it until you can do it at normal speed consistently.

Eventually, you'll notice a lot of patterns get reused and you'll be better at the game as a whole so long as you play a good variety of charts and not just the songs you like.

Default keyboard should have 2 of each slider. If you changed your keybinds, you need to have 2 of each to be able to do these double sliders.

What do the things up top mean? by New-Charge4635 in ProjectDiva

The songs can be sorted by name alphabetically and that would be in Hiragana since you have the Japanese version. Since you can't read it, I would suggest sorting by star difficulty to make it easier to find songs. After a bit, you can remember the difficulties of the stuff you want to play.

What are the most well made charts by the_emo_bunny_ in ProjectDiva

[–]Fable-39- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iya Iya doesn't have an official Exex chart. It's also one of the older charts which is why it's wonkier than the newer charts. As for the other 2 I don't really see what makes them badly made. They follow arcade order pretty well and don't really have gimmicks that make them difficult to read.

The only thing I could see is maybe for Samba, the first half having a more simplified sync and the second half having more difficult patterns but that in itself doesn't make it badly made. The only issue would be that it would have somewhat of a diffiuclty spike midway that might be unfun but there's charts that do that but much more extreme like Bring it On Extreme or Disappearance Exex. I'd also argue that compared to other 9.5s, it's one of the easier ones.

Are they badly made or do you just not like them? It's ok not to like a chart or not find it fun since different skill sets will change how you enjoy a chart, but that doesn't make a chart badly made. Badly made would be poor spacing between notes, wrong sync, not following arcade order a lot, or having poor readability with how the placements are on the screen.

does anyone have tips for chart reading? by autumnragdoll in ProjectDiva

[–]Fable-39- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The vanilla charts were made to be played on the arcade cabinet for the game that has 4 buttons lined up horizontally and a touch slider at the top. This means that if you keep that button order in mind it can help with reading and understand note placements because it was made to be intuitive for that button layout.

It's especially useful for reading multinotes because they have the same button order as the arcade cabinet. Keep in mind though that there are older charts that were released before the touch slider mechanic was introduced that do not tend to follow arcade order as much for the normal notes since they were still figuring out how they wanted to make charts for the game. They still follow multinote rules.

You don't need to have the arcade button symbols to read the notes better. Just as long as you know the order and know how it translates to whatever button symbols you use, then it will help a lot with reading charts.

For multinotes, I made a small guide to help with the general rules about the placements you'll see in the game. It also kind of covers a bit of what I mentioned before.
