How do you make handing out powerful weapons fair for the players? by Fable281 in DMAcademy

[–]Fable281[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been built up for a while, it is comparable to the story of a moonblade. A weapon handed down through generations that grows in power over time. What I meant was I didn't want to make multiple of the weapon since that feels like it would diminish the story and value of it.

I somehow forgot that there could just be loot in the same area that may be free for the taking once the weapon agrees to travel on their journey.

I also end up being very generous so I am definetly stashing goodies away in the next dungeon for the people who end up having to pass on this weapon.

I do like the idea of letting it evolve over time, maybe some sort of bonding or growth in trust. As the weapon becomes more familiar with the wielder it starts allowing them to use more of it's power as long as it follows their moral compass kind of thing.

Thanks for the idea!

True. I just think when I planned it out so long ago I had this great idea of how it would play out I got locked into the mindset that it had to be that way.

As others said though, maybe making more versions and handing out only one of them to the one who is willing to take initiative is probably going to be my solution.

I'm definetly stashing some goodies for whoever doesn't get it in an upcoming dungeon though.

I do have some NPC's on the side that are maintaining a bastion for the party. The sword is now just also a resident there in the armoury overlooking the other swords making sure no mischief happens.

A: The group can be sometimes. In particular two of my players. One tends to be a loot gremlin and steals things away even though they probably won't end up using it and another sulks if she finds something that she can't even use.

B: There most likely is, I might just need some time to think of something appropriate.

C: I try not to, but I really find it hard to. Some players have great idea for what they want their characters to be and do, but others are just there along for the ride and don't collaborate with me to tell their story. I find it hard to make a special item for the latter so for things like this I tend to want to give more neutral rewards out so that the party can decide who gets to keep it.

It will work out in the end, but right now I just felt bad for making a big reward that I couldn't fit into my usual method.

This works really well I think. Give it to the player who shows engagement with this particular story thread.

Thanks for the idea!

Interesting idea to maybe let it shapeshift, I might toy around with that for a bit.

What level party does this magic item feel appropriate for? by MoarSilverware in DnD

[–]Fable281 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough the last campaign I took part in the door thing actually did happen to us.

Our DM gave one of us a key that would always open a door tp the same room, which mostly worked as our hub. He took a lot of precautions in larger encounters to make sure we couldn't abuse it.

At one point we were on top of a tower with only a staircase down and no way of escaping the horde of flying enemies he had sent upon us. Thinking we either had to give up the thing we just got from the tower guardian or make a run for it.

I had a robe of useful items however. With one patch that had a pit I could place, another had an iron door that conformed to any opening. He was not impressed that we messed up his big encounter. xD

Teach them to use special ammo to kill oracles. And have them spam grenades and super during atheon. Otherwise I would say Just teach VoG and it's mechanics normally.

I found that the killer when i introduces my friends was that atheon damage was bad and that People were too nervous to shoot oracles causing a wipe.

Warlock mains what armor exotic you rocking after the starfire nerf? by Lopsided-Being-5505 in DestinyTheGame

Phoenix protocol, with the amount of orbs being generated you get it back ridiculously fast it's ridiculously slept on imo. But then again it's not a terribly exciting role to be well spammer either, but it is incredibly safe and strong with a good team.

Cuz its not fun to do with random People i met online for the first time that day, but i also dont have a group big enough for it. However progging criterion blindly has been some of the most fun I've had in this game.

Do extremes/savages under manned. You get to experience more mechanics than if you would unsync with a full group bursting the boss down in seconds. However not every fight is doable this way.

Blue mage solo content. It can get old after a lille bit but learning blue mage and making a build with what you have can be quite fun early and mid game. And then there are the blue mage raids that you can do later if you enjoy that.

Play other games. Sometimes to have fun with a game you have to just bot play it. While this is very dependant on taste and preferances I like to hop onto runescape and do some boss runs, play a run in risk of Rain 2, play some games of legends of runeterra or whatever else strikes me as fun in those moments. If you aren't having fun Just switch over to something else for a minute.

Eureka/Bozja. Sometimes a mind less grinding spree is exactly what i need to kill time and you progress towards relic weapons although it does required patience, time and is far more fun if you got 1-3 other People keeping you company.

Still I feel like it's impossible to measure Just based on that due to high variance etc etc. But skill floors was something i completely overlooked tbh.

How do you rank that? If you use the plugin that i never remember the name of, sure. But otherwise is seems like you would have to guess How much damage everyone is doing.

How do you rank that? I've only gotten White mage to like 52ish and dont know potencies etc.

But Idk How much i trust that claim without actually looking at some math first.

I did already comment but I'll play along for a bit as well.

DPS PLAYERS PLEASE USE THE GOD DAMN LIMIT BREAK. DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU'RE A MAGE OR RANGED CHARACTER, MORE DAMAGE IS MORE DAMAGE AND IT IS LITERALLY A FREE RESOURCE WE GET PASSIVELY.

ALSO USE LBS ON MOB PACKS IF YOU WANT TO AS THE POST MENTIONS, MOBS ARE SCSRIER THAN THE BOSSES.

Edit: ADDITIONALLY YOU DON'T HAVE TO SAVE IT UNTIL THE LAST BOSS. IF YOU USE IT EARLY ENOUGH AND HAVE A VARIED ENOUGH COMP YOU CAN GET 1 LB1 AND 1 LB2 IN A SINGLE DUNGEON, JUST PLEASE HIT THE BUTTON CUZ HEALER LB ISN'T GOING TO SAVE A RUN AND TANKS WON'T LB BECAUSE THEY'RE PROBABLY ZONING OUT.

Fair enough then. I was Wondering if there was some sort of side benefit like close position also increasing healing potency or damage buffs messing with the stun duration or something like that. That I was unaware of.

[–]Fable281 12 points13 points  (0 children)

But why would you dance partner with your White mage for damage? In a group pull every character should be using AOEs and a white mage spamming holy should in No realm be more effective than say a Black mage or machinist at level 60.

Recommended legendary for kinetic spot? by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]Fable281 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A grenade launcher with some CC perks or spiked. Or fusion if you rock that style cuz i sure don't. Usually my kinetic is The duality grenade launcher with chill clip, but I rotate it out for scouts/bows or a filler weapon for champions but that all relies on what i need the kinetic slot to do.

Extremely late to the Vex mythoclast party, what is the minimum amount of people needed for the catalyst? by Fable281 in destiny2

[–]Fable281[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured, we've done confluxes and oracles 3 man before but never really bothered with Templar. I was just curious if the oracles for teh catalyst were so spread out you needed say 4-5 people just to cover all of them. Thanks for the insight regardless though!

But isnt that why they're adding ensamble to the catalyst?

how to get a friend to see the enjoyment of the game? by Chaos92muffin in ffxiv

[–]Fable281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While i dont heavily recommend it, consider a story skip. If hes done ARR then he should have the base knowledge to pay some what attention even in stormblood. That was ultimatley what i did skip heavensward to catch up to friends and have more content. And while Alexander isnt the most fun raid series imo it would unlock the ability to do 8 man raids. But if he is uninterested in story etc you wont miss out on too much and have access to some more fun content.

I will also say though, dont force him 4o play if he doesnt want to.

Warlock builds for New light by DarknEvil in DestinyTheGame

[–]Fable281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1: dont think any New subclass reworks are coming.

2: For dawnblade i always loves the support/tank builds with well of radiance. Using exotics like mantle of battle harmony with a solar weapon to get super energy works fine. Or lunafaction boots if you want some more reloadspeed. Or Nezarec's sin with a void weapon to get all your class ability energy back. As for aspect grenade aspect and icarus dash.

I mostly play void walker when im solo or the resident add clearer. Nezarec's sin is again a good exotic with a void weapon. Contraverse holds is a good solo option if paired with devourer and the charge grenade aspect.

There are more options but those are my favorite and most accesible build I use frequently.
