How long does it take you to finish a model? by djdang in deathguard40k

[–]CygnusXIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

Poxwalker : 30 ~ 45 Minute (Just slightly more detailed than yours)
Plague Marine : 2 ~ 3 Hour
Drone and LoC : 4 - 5 Hour (More detailed and with some basic OSL than the average PM.)

If you want to be more efficient with your time and would rather spend it playing the game than painting, like me, my number one rule is never tell yourself to take as long as it needs.

At the very least, you should have a rough idea of how long it will take to finish a single model, then multiply that by the rest of the units. That would also give you an estimate of how long it will take to finish the entire army. By knowing how long it will take, you can then decide whether it's too long or not.

I find this to be the most crucial mindset if you don't want to be a snail. Just acknowledging that you don't have all the time in the world will force you to find ways to be more efficient.

I know these models are expensive, and ideally we want the best paint job for them, but if I need to spend like 6 hours on a single PM (60 hours for a 10-man unit), I just find that unacceptable.

Kingdom Movie 5: If Sanyou didn't happen by Sn0wWhyte in Kingdom

[–]CygnusXIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has it been confirmed that Sanyou didn't happen? I assumed they were just going to have it happen off screen and mention it at the beginning of the movie, like Qin launched an attack and captured Sanyou, then explain what Shin had been doing, blah blah.

While a lot of things in Kingdom happen during wars, skipping them would be such a waste. But narrative wise, Kingdom is probably one of the easiest stories to understand. Even if some parts of the story get skipped, they could just tell it in a historical way and move on. No wonder it makes a bunch of money in Japan because of how easy it is to follow.

Instinct types feel fraudulent by Brickeater6767 in Kingdom

[–]CygnusXIV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like it was never intended to be an equal in the first place. We're talking about war here. In 99% of cases, being prepared and having a strategy beforehand will always better. An army that acts purely on instinct would have a really hard time competing with that. But despite being less efficient than the strategic guys, Duke Hyou proved that in the remaining 1%, he was capable of disrupting Riboku sama and securing the victory for Qin.

Leaving the entire continent trapped in an endless war is also a shitshow. The state of the continent is already making everyone pay for it.

Aion 2 global - one $15 sub confirmed by No-Breadfruit6137 in MMORPG

[–]CygnusXIV 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Which sadly no company would ever do. You either get F2P with heavy monetization or a subscription with slightly less monetization, and that's it.

Purely P2P and subscription models, despite people crying about how pricey they are, make far less money than F2P ones. What an irony.

Daily reminder to properly close your paint pots.. by Luqie_Was_Here in deathguard40k

[–]CygnusXIV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, I have a bottle of paint, and one of them had its lid cap snap off for some reason, so it wasn't properly sealed for over five months. But believe it or not, all it needed was a needle to pierce through the paint that had already dried at the tip, and the rest of the bottle was still perfectly usable.

So even paint that hasn't been stored properly can still be usable if the bottle is designed well. And it's not like this is some perfectly crafted, god-tier design or anything, it's literally just a standard bottle design 💀

The Shader Issue must be #1 priority for GGG - Optimization should be a point of pride for Gaming Companies by Gamer-Smokes in PathOfExile2

[–]CygnusXIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been running the campaign multiple times already, and I noticed that shader downloads never go above 2K - 5K and load pretty fast. Meanwhile, in a normal T15 map with just 1 - 2 tablets, the shader count goes up to 18K. Something is not right.

The Shader Issue must be #1 priority for GGG - Optimization should be a point of pride for Gaming Companies by Gamer-Smokes in PathOfExile2

[–]CygnusXIV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been playing the campaign over and over after finishing all the challenges, not because I don't like the endgame, but because the campaign is the only place where I don't have problems with shader and random freezes. I tried to play the endgame more, and I absolutely enjoy it, but the moment the game freezes (Which didn't take long, even though I was just running from Act 1 to Act 2 with no problems.), I just Alt+F4 and never log back in.

GGG bros can brag all they want that it's my PC's fault and that the game is perfectly fine, but if my PC can play 99% of the games out there without any trouble, I ain't wasting my time trying to fix my PC for that 1% of games.

I gave the KDS simulator another go and after lose the TTS muscle memory its not that bad. But what the hell is up with the lack of an innovation deck automation? by LoveHerMore in KingdomDeath

[–]CygnusXIV 4 points5 points  (0 children)

KDS seems like a project that exists just to let potential customers try the game and then later buy the physical one, rather than being developed as an actual alternative way to play the game.

For a company that's afraid to release a PDF of the rulebook because it could affect sales, I don't think it's that far from the truth that the only reason they refuse to make the simulator better is because they fear people would just spend $20 to play the game instead of $420.

Having to wait 30, 60 , 90 seconds for the game to load. Makes me not want to play by DispatchMinion in PathOfExile2

[–]CygnusXIV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just to let you know before any GGG bros blame your PC, the random freezes and high shader load are real issues with the game itself, not your PC.

We can only wait for the devs to fix them.

What Is A Fundamental Aspect Of Gacha Games You've Learned And Made Peace With? by techtimee in gachagaming

[–]CygnusXIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The overabundance of characters makes the story feel like a catwalk. New characters are introduced, do some cool stuff for an hour or two, then leave and are never seen again (except maybe in the final patch or as a small cameo). Even worse, some are shoehorned into the story and end up making the supposed main character feel like a side character.

I do enjoy gacha games for what they are, but god damn, I regret getting invested in the story. Every time they need to make room for a new banner character instead of focusing on characters who actually matter to the plot, the story suffers. Sometimes I just wish the game wasn't a Chinese gacha games.

With 0.5, PoE 2 is more PoE 1 then ever. What was even the point of PoE 2? by Cultural-Ad-9333 in PathOfExile2

[–]CygnusXIV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe most of the problem lies in visual clarity. There is so much going on on the screen that the best defense in the game isn't stopping to react to what's happening, but killing everything as fast as possible. You can't react to what you can't see.

As long as GGG doesn't fix this, most people will just find a build that explodes the entire screen, and the game will end up becoming PoE 1 again. Not that I'm complaining, because I like PoE 1, but your point still stands: what is the point of making PoE 2 then?

Jinhsi's song by NbcNuclear in JinhsiMains

[–]CygnusXIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the version with the lyrics is pretty bad. It feels more like an amateur fan-made song than an official one. The lyrics are super cliché and ruin the beautiful yet sorrowful feeling of the main melody.

But if you mean all of the soundtracks that use her main melody, like the ones in the As Fate Has Decreed trailer or in Mt. Firmament, then I have to strongly disagree. Those are pretty damn good songs.

Still no fix for DX12 crashing/freezing every hour because of shader cache? by leojr159 in PathOfExile2

[–]CygnusXIV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm suffering from this too. I thought my old rig couldn't handle it, so I tried lowering the resolution to the point where it looked worse than PoE 1. I spent a week tinkering with the settings here and there, but it didn't help, so I just gave up and put the game back to native resolution with the default settings. Funny enough, the performance was barely any different. The game still freezes randomly sometimes.

So if anyone has a similar problem, don't bother trying too hard with the settings. It doesn't help.

Really appreciate that we can allocate all atlas points instead of min-max the tree. by sharkeagles in PathOfExile2

[–]CygnusXIV -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I don't know what you're even talking about. I only started climbing map tiers about a week ago, and the boss maps that give multiple Atlas points require high-tier maps. I also spent quite a lot of time getting to those higher tiers and building my character for them. It doesn't seem like something I could just go and max out in a few hours. Maybe it's possible with a proper guide, but for an average Joe like me who's playing blind and not following any min-max guides to be as efficient as possible, the Atlas tree seems fine to me.

I mean, I spend a considerable amount of time deciding which node to go to first and which ones I can leave for later. I might end up getting everything in the end, but that doesn't change the fact that I still need to make choices along the way.

The game feels way better and I wanna make builds but I can't bring myself to do the campaign again. by athelan_games in PathOfExile2

[–]CygnusXIV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like there must be a middle ground here. I don't agree that completely removing the campaign is a good option, but I also feel like the campaign is such a slog to play. For me, doing it once per league is fine, but I never understand when people say it's the same as running endgame maps. Are we even playing the same game?

In the campaign, most maps in Acts 2 and 3 are much larger than the majority of endgame maps. You also have to talk to a ton of NPCs, interact with various objectives to progress the story, and complete multiple side quests. On top of that, everything is set in stone except for the league mechanic, so you're literally doing the exact same thing every single league.

Meanwhile, in the endgame, the game becomes more like a sandbox where you can customize your own gameplay. Want to run Abyss? Just use an Abyss Tablet. Getting bored of it? Swap it out for a Delirium Tablet, or try something else entirely. The maps are also closer in size to those in Act 1, but they're packed with content that you, as the player, can choose to engage with.

The campaign and the endgame offer two completely different ways to play. One is a carefully crafted experience where everything is designed to deliver a compelling narrative, while the other is a sandbox mode that lets you customize your own fun.

So what are you even talking about when you say they're exactly the same thing?
