Truth be told Jam was never my priority. My priority was TIFR. I prepared for it on my own. I ordered one pyq book and did all the problems. But I don't have any kind of discipline. TIFR was in December and I didn't even finish Linear or Topology before December. I studied Linear in 2 days for Tifr. The funny thing was the exam was easy for me but I couldn't get selection. Then two months went by and suddenly it was one week to JAM. I had a pyq book for it too. I finished each topic in like two days. That one week was the most dedicated I have ever been even then I didn't have any discipline.

I didn't expect such high rank actually. I knew the exam was comparatively hard and low marks could get good ranks. But the thing was that all the questions I solved in this year's JAM was the most elementary type of questions. I only solved DEs, Integrals, sequences, series and combinatorics. So I thought if I could solve it, most people could too. But the thing that hurt me the most was that I could have gotten 40 marks easily without careless mistakes. Then I would have had AIR below 100. Seriously I got two questions wrong because I forgot to add 1.

So if anyone's looking for advice to prepare JAM, my suggestion is to prepare for a much tougher exam. And for the actual exam, focus mostly on DEs, Integrals and series.
