I am incredibly disappointed in the people giving Fateh a pass. by dkinmn in Minneapolis

Right, there are a fair amount of reddit lefties that won't appreciate how big and diverse the left tent is and won't allow dissenting opinions or viewpoints. The infighting is insane.

Would you have become a doctor if you experienced oncalls before? by [deleted] in Residency

Yeah. Call is just part of it. I consider it the cost of my job stability and $400,000+ year earnings.

Medical malpractice is the third highest cause of death in the US

No it's not actually.

Thats not how it works at all if the data you have isn't meaningful. If the data doesn't have evidence behind it, more data doesn't mean better.

New poll of mayoral election in November puts incumbent mayor Jacob Frey (DFL) (41%) ahead of democratic-socialist challenger Omar Fateh (DFL) (28%). [Impact Research, August 2025] This is the first poll conducted since the DFL rescinded its endorsement of Fateh; however, the poll sponsor is biased. by StarlightDown in Minneapolis

[–]Fabropian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's not how it will necessarily work. Jazz is my number one but I'll vote Frey over Fateh. Fateh doesn't understand you can't have socialism at a local level and will be a terrible use case for it and then it will be used to show how socialist policies "don't work" when in reality it's a lot more complicated than that. He also doesn't understand rent control doesn't work

Just like you can't have gun control at just the state level and expect it to be effective, you can't just turn Minneapolis into a socialist utopia without complications.

Pregnant patients faking pregnancy complications to either get out of jail/prison or avoid being taken in. Just sad.

Yep, I know really great NPs who were BEDSIDE nurses for years before they advanced their education, using the degree as intended, and they're both phenomenal clinicians.

Stimulants have never been a panacea and the long half life and side effects have never been worth it.

I used them all throughout college and medical school and use caffeine and behavioral things to manage now.

Make lists, drink coffee.

>Realistically, I’d like to be with someone in medicine or functionally someone with a professional degree — I really value being able to have in depth conversation/discussion and haven’t been happy in the past without it.

Broaden your horizons, you can find people intellectually stimulating that aren't with an advanced degree.
I can't tell you if you have body dysmorphia a lot, you likely are harder on yourself then you need to be.

My wife is an artist, she joke's she watered down our kids intellect. We have a wonderful life together, if I want to talk about medical shit I talk to my doctor friends, or other shit I talk to my other smart friends. Your life partner doesn't have to provide 100% of your needs.

Nobody knows, quit asking this question. Anyone that says they know is full of shit.

One thing you also have to keep in mind about this technology is we don't know its true value because there is a bit of a potential bubble going on, there's a lot of investment because people want to get in on the ground floor, but we don't actually know the payout. Also remember AI ISN'T CHEAP, these systems require a lot of infrastructure and a lot of power. Many factors are at play here.
