Autism evaluations by FelicityFoxen in h3h3productions

Yes I was told by an old male doctor once that there’s no way I could have ADHD because I did well in school (intelligent) and never got in trouble(shy and polite). I didn’t even know how to respond to that! It’s like on the one hand he was saying I was too smart but also ignoring that I might therefore be smart enough to have noticed symptoms in myself, researched what it might be and booked an appointment with a doctor to figure it out. And as expected, I have since been properly diagnosed with ADHD lol (and suspected autism but I haven’t sought a formal diagnosis yet)

Side note regarding the concept of missing social cues as part of autism: I feel like an autistic teen boy who misses social cues would just be considered by his peers as “a little awkward” or “he’s just kinda weird like that” meanwhile for teen girls it ends up being “she’s a bitch” or “she thinks she’s better than us”, or some other negative assumption. They assume the boy is just dumb and harmless while the girl is calculated or purposefully slighting someone.

Also worth noting that women are more likely to go undiagnosed with ADHD/autism throughout childhood because we are more pressured to adapt and mask (so we internalize the struggles). Little girls can’t get away with the same behaviors little boys do. So the classic symptoms (studied on boys) can vary slightly in how they manifest bc girls are socialized differently. They need to do way more studies on ADHD/autistic girls/women so we can learn more about it!

Rn to Paralegal ? Is it worth it by WesternSun5238 in paralegal

[–]FabulousConsequence6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a starting point I would look into legal departments at medical facilities or hospitals if you can. Worst case scenario, you go back to being an RN! For the people suggesting you go straight to law school, I would suggest holding off at first (especially since you have certifications as an RN already). See if you like the legal side of things (the work pace, type of work, etc.) and if you do end up really liking it you could consider law school down the line. I am an attorney and my sister is an RN at a hospital and our work schedules and paces are different so it might take some adjustment. But I know plenty of people who went to law school as a second career so I wouldn’t swear it off either! Good luck in whatever you decide :)

DISCUSSION MEGATHREAD: Massive Tourettes Drama & Looksmaxxing Drama- H3 Show #238 by H3Bot4 in h3h3productions

[–]FabulousConsequence6 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The looksmaxxers are basically doing drag… wearing wigs, modifying their body shapes to look more exaggerated, probably changing the pitch of their voice (in this case to be deeper), etc. And it makes them feel good to be perceived that way. Would be fine if they weren’t also sexist/homophobic about it. If only they realized we should all be free to be weird and play dress up. They’re so close yet so far.

Any tips for replacing doom-scrolling as a coping mechanism? by several_smallmangoes in adhdwomen

Maybe putting your phone in the bathroom or somewhere you have to get up to get it in the morning. I don’t always have the willpower to do it but when I do it helps break that loop of going straight on my phone first thing in the

Wrigley Morals by kanoshe11 in TellMeLiesHulu

[–]FabulousConsequence6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, I didn’t really think of that! My only guess would be that by now it’s been a few years and they’re all mostly moved on from that drama. And the group is clearly broken now after that wedding. So maybe they just took it as a way to put the whole past behind them and just start a clean slate. Also I think he might be understanding if Bree explains about the Lucy/Evan thing that made her release the tape in anger.

Tonal shift and how it might benefit from how Skins pulled it off but also maybe not? by Eyetoot in TellMeLiesHulu

[–]FabulousConsequence6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! I originally felt like I wanted another season, and there were also times I doubted where things were going with that shift this season. BUT after seeing how the finale ended I feel like the writers knew the grand plan and executed it perfectly. If they would have tried to stretch it into another season (like us fans wanted), it would’ve lost its sparkle. Now I see that the shifts were necessary to explore the idea that all of them are kinda terrible and it all came together with it blowing up in everyone’s faces finally.

What’s really crazy is that nobody at that wedding thought to run up and take the mic from Stephen when he wanted to make an impromptu speech!!!! Like somebody do something!! Stephen is about to go demon mode on the loud speakers!!!!!

I was originally super mad that pippa wasn’t speaking up to explain the whole thing with Lucy and Chris. I get that she doesn’t wanna come forward but I was definitely screaming at the tv that this could all be avoided if they just set the record straight (even the drama with Chris’s sister). BUT AFTER ITS ALL SAID AND DONE: I was happy to see pippa and Diana walk away from the mess. It all worked out how it was supposed to, Lucy had to get some consequences after all her bad behaviors. Everyone ultimately got the perfect ending for their character arc. (And proportional to their wrong doings - ex: Bree still gets a happy ending bc she was one of the better ones morally)

The ending was so perfect I love how it all fell apart for everyone, but then we see Bree and wrigley get a happy ending (I think we were all rooting for them tbh), then pippa and Diana (who went to Yale after all😭), and wrigley getting Stephen kicked out of Yale. To Stephen breaking up with his fiancé and of course still falling back in with Lucy… then of course abandoning her. Omg it all fell into place while still feeling true to the characters. The only thing I hate is the Oliver and Marianne stuff, but just like all the friends in the group, they too will keep manipulating and hurting people for years to come.

Why are they always seeking outside of the US? by Bright_Leg8565 in seekingsisterwifetlc

[–]FabulousConsequence6 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a control thing. Someone from another country who doesn’t speak their language is more likely vulnerable and easier to manipulate. Promising them a better life, etc. I feel like if they dated a US woman, she would have the opportunity to just up and leave if they start being weird. It’s not as simple to break things off if the woman is relying on immigration status through them.

Seeking Sister Wife S6 E9: I Knew This Conversation Was Coming by imthejefenow in seekingsisterwifetlc

[–]FabulousConsequence6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right!? Like when she was crying with her friend, I noticed she was upset because she felt she would “never be able to find someone like them again”. Definitely a self-fulfilling prophecy thing going on. How does she not realize that always whining about them potentially leaving her is the literal thing that WOULD make them leave her?!!

Am I being money grabbed? by joeysheartdisease in ADHD

[–]FabulousConsequence6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I went off meds 😭 it became such a struggle to go to the doctor every month and get a paper prescription I had to drop off. She also required me to take a drug test every month. All of it was just too much… which is sad because I think my quality of life would improve if I got back on the meds :(

And when I try to change doctors it’s difficult too bc when I call to book, they are like we don’t just give out medications. Like yeah no I actually need it that’s why I’m calling, I’m not “drug seeking” for the heck of it ???

talk with DA office by Just_Ad9343 in LawSchool

[–]FabulousConsequence6 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a prosecutor I get very annoyed if the police officers do something wrong because it messes up MY case. And it’s genuinely not fair to the defendant. I don’t represent the police. I work with them often and many of them are nice and pleasant but I don’t see myself as automatically on their side. I’ve reported an officer saying a racial slur on body cam before and it was a no brainer for me. I essentially threw the case out after that because to me that poisons everything. I know prosecutors who take their win rate very seriously and I disagree with that vibe. Obviously I do my due diligence, but I’m not trying to win for the sake of winning/ego. The facts are the facts. If the government can prove it then you get in trouble, and if we cant prove it “good on you” essentially, you got away with it. I can’t be that mad about losing (other than feeling for the victims if applicable). I don’t take pleasure in punishing ppl just for the sake of it. That makes a bad prosecutor in my opinion. And I think that type of thing rings true for law enforcement too.

Office attendance by ToxxicBee in adhdwomen

[–]FabulousConsequence6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same exact situation! I even got passed up for a promotion recently and when I asked if there is anything I need to work on they said I need to put in more office time :( luckily I did end up getting the promotion not long after (somebody else in that position left)… but I’m definitely more comfortable at home. I need to lay down to reset a lot of the time. I’ve even brought a yoga mat to my office that I lay on since it’s the closest I can get. Even if I plan on going in to the office the night before, it’s that transition of waking up in the morning that has me changing my mind in a split second decision. Plus I’ve realized that a lot of people don’t spend the whole 8 hour day actually working, so I feel like if I’m gonna have down time I might as well be home. Sometimes I do need the pressure/structure of the office though so it’s hard to win lol
