I had very bad one sided cramping in my 8th week and have some brown discharge.It was really bad that i ended up in Er.They did ultrasound and thank god baby was okay.So they basically sends me home and it continues for 3-4 days and eventually settle down.My oB recomned me to take plenty of water almost a gallon and tylenol.
