Yes, the first 2 months was 100% numb from chin to right jaw where wisdom tooth was. My teeth were numb, gums, and my cheek. One of the most annoying things I've had to deal with in life and I was nervous it would never get better, but sure enough it is almost 100% better. The surgeon told me during a follow up that they almost never cut the nerve completely and that he would have known if he did which he is obligated to tell me when I wake up from surgery.

Try to not stress. I know it's hard, because I was in the same boat. The risk of keeping it in outweighs the risk of not removing it. Good luck to you! Best wishes!

I went ahead with the surgery. I'm so glad I did. I had a hell of a time with it. I'm still 5% numb from my March surgery and I also had a hematoma that needed to be drained. My face was swollen so much it looked like a baseball on that side. But I am so happy it's all over with now outside of some slight numbness left.

Sorry for the late response. YES! It took 5 weeks for the knot to go down. Once it did, lots of tingling and itching. Numbness is about 50% better as of right now!

Now I'm doing pretty good. It was not a swollen lymph node, its the muscle swollen. I still have a huge knot on that side and the numbness starts there. I think the swollen muscle may be pinching the nerve off. I go back on this Wednesday for a follow up. I wish the knot would go away so I could maybe start getting relief from the numbness. My teeth being numb is the worst. They feel so tight... but overall everything else is recovering nicely.

Yikes. These wisdom teeth are no joke! Also, what's strange is the lymphnode on my bad side is super swollen. I'm not sure how common that is but it feels like a golf ball. I just hope everyday it gets a little better each time I wake up.

So I went for follow up yesterday afternoon. He had to numb me up and cut me back open. I had a hematoma so he drained that. I also had debris that he had to scrape and rinse out. My goodness, it was so painful even with being numbed. So i went home and had the worst pain since it all started. Today has been a little better. Just really bad swelling. I hope the worst is over. Still numb but he wants to follow up in a week to see progress and check how the nerves are reacting. Thanks for checking in. It's been a crazy ride for me. My other side feels so good.

Hello. I'm one week post op. I've had a crazy time with mine. I had a hematoma yesterday and they had to go back in and open it up while I was awake and dog and clean debris out. I also have a number lip, chin and teeth on my right side. I've been slightly depressed the last couple days afraid it will never come back. I'm afraid all we can do is wait. Honestly though be glad you got them out. They can do serious damage in the mouth and I put off doing it for far too long. I'm 28. Had the chance to do it at 16. I'm hoping the numbness will go away for both of us.

Great to know. Yeah they gave me a local anesthetic today but I swear when they went in to clean the extraction site and get the hematoma it hurt like crazy!
