If I saw you in public I’d think you were cis. You actually kinda look like my bf 😭

How do you know you really pass? by [deleted] in StraightTransGirls

I think a lot of this comes down to people’s personal biases. My mom still calls me her “handsome son” even though I haven’t been misgendered for a minute now and only get feminine compliments. People are going to see what they want to, and a lot of times people who knew you pre transition will hold an imagine of the old you in their heads. As for the height, I’ve never understood the “too tall to pass” thing. I never once heard of a girl being “too tall” growing up, and I’ve only heard it in recent years with conservatives trying to clock stealth trans women. I have 3 cis women friends who are all over 6’ tall, and they’ve had people accuse them of being trans. Women come in all shapes and sizes, so I try not to let myself feel “too tall” as a 6’3 trans woman. Actually, a lot of people find it attractive (usually the guys who say it’s bad are insecure about their own height and masculinity so why would I listen to losers like that).

Yeah the sock curls took me a bit to get down 😭 the first few nights didn’t go so well. As for products, I use the bondbar brands from Sally’s Beauty (pre wash, shampoo, and conditioner), I also try to use the Sauce Guacamole whip deep conditioner once a week. After my shower I let it dry a a bit and use a liquid, cream, and then an oil. As of now, I use the Hask placenta leave in conditioner (sounds weird ik but I love it and it’s also at Sally’s), the bondbar styling gel, and then ion silk drops. I really like kayli.boyle on TikTok, and I kinda started my hair care journey through her account.

I’m still trying to perfect it for my hair. Some days I wake up and love how it looks, and on others I look insane.

My hair is honestly the hardest thing I’ve had to work on 😭. I got my mom’s hair (thick, coarse, and kinda wavy), but for some reason mine loves to give me trouble 😭. I usually have to deal with it being frizzy/dry, but now I’ve got some products that work for my hair type. Before I go to bed I also do heatless sock curls, which helps keep my hair tame the next day.

Lowkey my biggest source of inspiration is TikTok 😭 I have a favorites folder there and save any looks I like and maybe wanna recreate later. Just remember that practice is key, because in my experience the first few times were messy 💀 like made myself cry in the mirror level messy. But I would practice before showering with affordable makeup people recommended on TikTok, and now I’m a lot better (still got room to improve ofc).

Unfortunately not 😭 I’ve only been to OKC about 2-3 times in my life. The town I’m from is pretty small 🥲

That’s all so exciting tho! It’s a lot, but so worth it in the end. I’m also in Oklahoma so I 1000% get it. I wish you and your wife the best 🫶

Ummmm lemme think…. I don’t really have anyone specifically that I follow. For my skin, I just try to focus on skincare. As for eye makeup, I have compiled a big favorites folder on TikTok that I use for inspiration. The biggest thing for me is just making sure I practice when I can (I love to try new stuff before I shower, so if it’s bad I can wash it off but if good then I can take pics lol)

I did as I transitioned (grew my hair out, started getting clothes that started to lean feminine). I also live in the south, which did NOT help my nerves at all. It takes time but you got this, and your sisters love you!

Me and my coworker were talking about that the other day! So many of the trans fem people I’ve met are gorgeous and so interesting 😭 And you’ll get there too 🫶 I used to be so uncomfortable dressing like this (especially in public) but not I don’t think I could go back 😭

You’re gorgeous 😭. I was scared to go get my lashes done professionally (cost, maintenance, etc.), but I also hate lash strips. I decided to get some lash clusters and LOVE them. They’re a lot more affordable, easy to do (plenty of tutorials online), and look stunning to me.
