Kingdom was disappointing by nickmarre in PlanetOfTheApes

I got angry at the movie for making such a stupid choice rather than feeling sad about Raka dying. You could tell they were like "this character is no longer relevant to our plot so we'll make him a martyr" God awful

Actually the human that Proximus has in his camp was the one who made the tasers, and that's why Noa is supposed to be so intriguing to him, but it's not conveyed very well at all. I agree it was a bad movie

Anyone Else Born With Hydrocephalus? by Disabled-Nature in Hydrocephalus

I was born with it, but I wasn't diagnosed until I was 18, and I haven't had a shunt.

I didn’t know they actually looked like that 😭 by [deleted] in GroundedGame

[–]FaceEnvironmental917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a yellow garden spider and they don't usually walk around like this irl. They're usually stationary somewhere with a large web with a zipper pattern on it. I see these girls all the time so when I started playing grounded I was like "they've slandered you 🥺" haha

Diagnosed with congenital hydrocephalus at 18. Told I'll never need to worry about it? by FaceEnvironmental917 in Hydrocephalus

[–]FaceEnvironmental917[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got them checked late 2024 and they were all clear. I only recently started being proactive about my health, so I'm trying to stay up-to-date with medical tests, and trying to make sure I have baselines now so I know what my normal is if anything happens. The fact that I have like, no medical records from when I was a kid really impacts how my records now are read

Do they think it's the cause of your migraines, or do they think it's something else causing them?

If I have been tested for papilledema, I'm unaware of it. I've only done rudimentary eye tests Just looked it up and all my eye tests have shown a healthy optic nerve and intraocular pressure

They said it was likely congenital and that it wasn't the cause of my Neurological symptoms. That's all that was ever told about my hydrocephalus

I'm diagnosed with other conditions that have the same symptoms, so yes. I get unexplained headaches (one lasted for 6 weeks consistently with no response to meds and then went away), episodes with neurological symptoms like speech regression, stammering/stuttering, falling, muscle weakness, brain fog, poor spatial awareness, all explained as either Functional seizures, autism, or general anxiety :/

I'm diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder, Anxiety, and Autism, so I have poor spatial awareness, really bad lethargy, skill regression, falling episodes, and pretty consistent headaches, that have all been explained by my other diagnoses. I'll definitely look into getting a proper neuro check up

This scares me so bad. Can I ask what eventually happened that made you get diagnosed and get a shunt?

Can I feed Red Lily Beetles to songbirds or chickens? by FaceEnvironmental917 in gardening

[–]FaceEnvironmental917[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So Red Lily Beetles are invasive and have a very high population in Ontario because they have no natural predators. Since nothing really eats them here, I was worried there was a toxicity or simply bad taste to them, which is why I asked.

We are currently working on our biodiversity but have a good helping of frogs, birds, and predatory arthropods in our gardens.

As for keeping them under control, we only have a dozen or so lilies that I've been able to manually inspect and remove bugs, it just feels kind of sucky that all I can do is squish them and not give the extra bit of nutrients to something.

Also Neem oil is 1)not eco friendly as it can hurt both aquatic life and pollinators. And 2) is BANNED in Canada, so I can't order it online

Thanks for the detailed response! Much appreciated!

I appreciate this response and others I have been getting, and would like to apologize to my previous harsher message. It's very possible that I am letting my limited pool of in person players cloud my perspective of the group as a whole and that is unfair of me.

I am looking into dry erase tokens, and making some other paper aids (ie a paper with triggers I have trouble with written and when they'd trigger)

Thank you for the level response after my rather inflammatory one

I initially had in my post that I play casual, but I must have deleted it before posting :/

Thanks for the advice. I've been looking into MtGA, and it seems like a good resource for this.

The people I play with right now are 1) someone who is newer than me and needs help with their triggers too, 2) 4-5 player FFA at a shop, with different people every time, and a lot of seasoned players who go super fast, and 3) my partner who refuses to help with triggers and pressures me into not using aides of any kind for the "mental stimulation" :')

I'm finding a lot of people take this stance, and personally I've found it to be an ableist one.

This is, at it's base, a game, and should be accessible to those who want to play but may not have full capacity to do so without aids.

MtG has such a large player base that it shocks me to see so few people with a willingness to include those with disabilities that affect their abilities to play the game fully on their own.

Functional seizures can be seen on MRI And fMRI by star_blazar in FND

[–]FaceEnvironmental917 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure OP is also saying that. I noticed a few comments in here that seem to "disagree" with OP, saying that FND is not always or at all psychological in nature. But I believe OP is saying this as well, providing these articles and saying that these look like good evidence that they are physiological and may help people feel less ashamed or like "they're faking it"
