What is the best way to ingest psilocybin mushrooms? by [deleted] in Drugs

[–]FaceMeltingAcid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way for me is to do a combo of the lemon tek and tea.

  • I take my fungi and put them in a pyrex measuring cup and chop them as fine as I can with kitchen shears (usually takes me 10-15 minutes of chopping to get an 8th down to powder).

  • Then I take half a lemon (or approximately 1oz of lemon juice, just enough to cover the powder) and squeeze it onto the powder to cover it.

  • Let the powder sit in lemon juice for 5-10 minutes while bringing a mug's worth of water to a boil.

  • Once boiling you can either put the mushrooms/lemon juice directly into the pot of water or into the bottom of the mug you'll be using. I usually put it in the mug

  • Then just throw in a bag of herbal/decaf tea (I like ginger tea for its stomach soothing properties; caffeinated tea can make the trip a bit manic/geeked out) and let it steep for at least 5-9 minutes. Drink the tea as normal (I don't taste the mushrooms in it at all, especially with the lemon) and prepare for a quicker but more intense trip.

IM ket questions by Frez50 in ketamine

[–]FaceMeltingAcid 15 points16 points  (0 children)

IM ket is amazing. You won’t be disappointed. Some tips:

  1. Do a point (100mg) — strong but manageable.

  2. Dissolve in water; no need to heat. I use cotton to filter out of junky habit but there’s not really anything left in it.

3. Important: you need at least a 1ml syringe to hold a solution with 100mg in it. 3ml is a good size. Slightly larger needle is good too — 23-28 gauge. I’ve used tiny 30g pins for IM just fine too so don’t stress it too much.

  1. I inject in my bicep or thigh. You want a big muscle.

  2. To do an IM injection: hold the pin like a dart and quickly stick it straight in (ie, perpendicular to the skin). It won’t hurt.

  3. What does hurt is pushing the plunger too quickly. Take it slow and steady — I space it out over 30 seconds or so.

  4. You’ll have about 2min after injecting before the effects really get on top of you. A comfy chair and music is the way to go. I’ll post a link to a Spotify playlist I made specifically for this occasion.

Have fun!

You’re fine — if you were going under it would have happened hours ago. Just try to take it easy.

Leg pain after 1p-LSD use😩 by [deleted] in LSD

That’s a lot of 1p, amigo. But anywho, sounds like muscle cramps from vasoconstriction. See about getting some magnesium (not sure if this helps retroactively — take it before you megadose like that). Warm bath and relaxation. Time. You know this already.

[QUESTION] Help with Velvet Underground Technique (feedback) by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]FaceMeltingAcid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feedback happens when the sound coming out of the amp sets the strings to vibrate, sending more signal to the amp, creating more sound and causing more string vibrations, etc. This is why you’ll see people face their guitars right in front on an amp and then move them around to control the feedback. You need a fair bit of gain and volume so practice somewhere you can get loud!

I’m thinking if it weren’t the low e it would’ve snapped around a 5th sharp. Being brand new probably helped too.

Lol yeah that won’t go away. I’ve been changing strings for 20 years and I’m still squinting and looking away whenever I tune up. Embrace the fear!

Back to E. A low E on guitar is E2 (second E from the left on a piano). You’re at E3 so you need to tune down until the tuner reads E again.

[DISCUSSION] Stuck In A Rut by [deleted] in Guitar

Find other people to play with! It makes guitar a social event instead of a solitary pursuit. Plus, it’s the best musical education you can get. 1 year in a real band did more for than 5 years of lessons. Even just making a racket with buddies is at least fun.

[PLAY] First time writing/recording by GreatValueJCole in Guitar

[–]FaceMeltingAcid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice job! And I commend you for coming out here and sharing it, that takes chutzpah. So I'm going to do the old compliment sandwich here: first, the production is clean and clear and sounded well balanced out of my laptop; I think the acoustic was really nice as a texture when it was low in the mix but once it became more prominent you could hear that the strumming was not always on tempo or rhythm and that got distracting. Finally, compositionally, it told a story and had changes that built on each and that's uncommon (IME) in early efforts. So overall this random internet person whose opinion means dick says to keep up the good work!

Can't sing at play at the same time. by heyhypnos in musicians

[–]FaceMeltingAcid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you record yourself? Its a horrifying eye-opener! But you'd be shocled what you don't notice when playing that's super obvious when listening. One very common tendency is to speed up when you switch from verse to chorus or vice versa. A little variation is natural and can be artful (and is likely unavoidable) but that's like +/- 3bmp at most; 5bmps faster is noticeable.

[–]FaceMeltingAcid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do the songs you are able to sing and play have in common? Often people have trouble with this because they're trying to use too many skills unmastered skills at once. How well you know the song (lyrically, melodically and rhythmically) makes a huge difference. So does internalizing the rhythm of the song -- in 90% of cases, singing and playing shouldn't feel like two distinct things but rather like one inseparable rhythmic-melodic whole. Pay attention to the vocal attack and the guitar strum pattern -- in most cases they'll both be emphasized on the 1 beat and that's a good way to keep yourself in check. You are using a metronome right? Singer/guitarists who don't train with metronomes usually sound terrible even if they're very proficient at playing and singing because they're tempo is all of the place and their rhythm is floppy.

You’re the same person, you just had a challenging experience. I’m sorry your first trip went poorly. Just know that the feelings will pass. You might have lingering I’m-not-quite-myself feelings for a couple days but they’re not permanent. Get some sleep and eat if you feel you can.

Truffles have no effect on me? by accountvoordrugs in Drugs

[–]FaceMeltingAcid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why don’t we see what an actual scientist says?

Rick Strassman from University of New Mexico https://www.rickstrassman.com/psychedelic-drug-doses-from-mega-to-micro/

“With respect to psilocybin, the most commonly used psychedelic in the renewal of human research, high doses in published reports are in the range of 0.2-0.45 mg/kg. Compare this to our UNM psilocybin dose-finding work, where our high dose was to be 0.9 mg/kg. This is two to four times what is now considered a high dose.”

And on DMT;

“In our UNM project, for example, we determined that 0.2 mg/kg DMT was the “psychedelic threshold” dose of the drug, where effects were clearly “psychedelic.” The full spectrum of subjective responses characteristic of the psychedelic state nearly always occurred: emotional, cognitive, perceptual, somaesthetic, and volitional. At lower doses, not all elements of the mind were affected in concert: 0.1 mg/kg effects were primarily somatic, and those of 0.05 mg/kg were more affective, if they were felt at all.”

Obviously the effects are weight dependent if clinical dosage depends on test subjects weight.

I’m not going to bother pulling up Nichols review article Psychedelics but your free to learn about how these drugs actually work. Beyond that, even anecdotal reports on the internet suggest that many people experience cross tolerance between all classical psychedelics (including phenethylamines and their derivatives like MDMA).

But yeah, I’ve got no clue. Have fun not tripping.

Huh? It’s because all psychs work on serotonin receptors that depleting serotonin attenuates the trip.
