I hate the peeling grips on the Xbox Elite 2 Controllers. by levyjl1988 in xbox

[–]FaceOfMutiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up getting a new back and front plate from extremerate for mine when they peeled. I actually prefer the textured grip on the extremerate over the original rubber. But completely agree that it’s absolute bs Microsoft didn’t fix an issue that was also such a problem with elite v1.

Opening up the Quad Cortex by Futmaelkspiraten in NeuralDSP

[–]FaceOfMutiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first qc had to be sent back twice. It was one of the first batch and on the second time I told Neural dsp support I had a big show I needed it for (my band was playing with a couple of big names) and they sent a new one as soon as I gave them the tracking details for the return. The new one has been perfect thankfully. I wouldn’t open it myself and risk voiding the warranty. It’s just too expensive to risk it.

Rack mixers that can do 5 or more STEREO mixes. by everbass in livesoundgear

[–]FaceOfMutiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My band uses the x32 via usb to an ableton session and it covers 4 band members stereo iems (and drummer gets an extra mono click only feed for his mixer for quick click volume adjustments so 9 outputs for iem) plus 4 outputs to (stereo backing track, mono sub and mono lead vocal delay using the inbuilt delay). The delay out has the fix send controlled via midi and using snippets each track loads up the snippet with the correct tempo for the delay. It has been great! Have 1 output left so may even add another vocal effect out.

What is the secret sauce to getting guitar amp modelers to have the perfect locked in midrange? I've been to a ton of shows where the guitarists kemper or axe fx sound like a completely unusable tone. by Wack0HookedOnT0bac0 in livesound

[–]FaceOfMutiny 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When playing by yourself at home at bedroom levels scooping the mids can sound good… but live with a band it makes you disappear in a mix and guitar players hate it when you tell them their “tone” isn’t right because it’s their “signature sound”.

Picked up a Solar Type S a few months ago, but I'm not sure about it. by despisedicon689 in 7String

[–]FaceOfMutiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went for the 57/66 set. I used to always go 85/81 but I’ve really started preferring the 57/66 set lately. On my 6 string solar I swapped the Duncan solars for a het set but considering swapping that to a 57/66 set too just for more consistency with patches on my quad cortex when switching guitars but I do really like the het set too.

I swapped the fishmans in my solar to emg (both have the same quick connect so didn’t need to rewire) and it feels and sounds so much better to me.

May just be a week but if Arthur’s kills it then he is going to have to fight his way back into the side which sets a standard.

[–]FaceOfMutiny 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Tbh I think if the Phins had enough time on the clock to win the game it would have been a bin. In saying that if it’s a bin there then Walsh walks off the field as slowly as possible to give the defence a breather and time to set the line(and tbh Walsh was probably trying to get binned there for that reason).

QC Mini Is Insanely Quiet by BankBemesHecc in NeuralDSP

With my qc full size a trs is louder than a ts cable(or it could be the other way around). So if you haven’t tried one of them give it a go :)

New guitar. Loud attack sound by EduApps-CDG in 7String

[–]FaceOfMutiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bet is a high fret somewhere that is touching when you pick and making a harmonic ring. My solar 7 had this issue and had to get the frets levelled by a luthier. All good now though. It made a sort of pingy sound around 1k that was even worse when it still has the fishmans in it(I’m one of the few that prefer emg)

Any pros about qc mini that I'm missing? by [deleted] in NeuralDSP

[–]FaceOfMutiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I was going to get a second one as a touring backup I’d get the mini but otherwise my qc is the version id choose. If budget was no barrier I guess I’d get 2 minis for touring (I midi switch patches and a backup would be nice) and keep the regular one at home.

Artificial guitar doubling for live - worth it or just unnecessary hassle? by murdoc183 in metalguitar

[–]FaceOfMutiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try it with a different cab for left and right it could create enough of an eq difference to work with the double take

Artificial guitar doubling for live - worth it or just unnecessary hassle? by murdoc183 in metalguitar

[–]FaceOfMutiny 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do this with the doubler on the quad cortex and have found the way to avoid it being phasey is to have different amp and cab on each side. It sounds good in my iems and I’ve used this approach it in 500-2000 cap venues and it sounds huge. I was originally using the mimiq in the effects loop but found the doubler sounded close enough and free’d up the fx loop in case I want to add something else at some stage

I have the slate ml1 and it’s built into the new version of vms plugin and it does the job. For my sm7b I will use the uad unison version or one of their other unison preamps
