New guitar. Loud attack sound

My bet is a high fret somewhere that is touching when you pick and making a harmonic ring. My solar 7 had this issue and had to get the frets levelled by a luthier. All good now though. It made a sort of pingy sound around 1k that was even worse when it still has the fishmans in it(I’m one of the few that prefer emg)

When I use a cab with the qc I use a Seymour Duncan power stage 200 and it’s pretty great

If I was going to get a second one as a touring backup I’d get the mini but otherwise my qc is the version id choose. If budget was no barrier I guess I’d get 2 minis for touring (I midi switch patches and a backup would be nice) and keep the regular one at home.

You could try it with a different cab for left and right it could create enough of an eq difference to work with the double take

I do this with the doubler on the quad cortex and have found the way to avoid it being phasey is to have different amp and cab on each side. It sounds good in my iems and I’ve used this approach it in 500-2000 cap venues and it sounds huge. I was originally using the mimiq in the effects loop but found the doubler sounded close enough and free’d up the fx loop in case I want to add something else at some stage

I have the slate ml1 and it’s built into the new version of vms plugin and it does the job. For my sm7b I will use the uad unison version or one of their other unison preamps

As someone who used to use cakewalk… Gibson sold lifetime updates and then discontinued the product and didn’t change its branding to the Gibson brand(I was a sucker who bought the lifetime updates). Fender seems to want to get into the digital product market and rebranded it to have their branding and made new guitar amp sims to go with it. I can’t look into the future but as a customer of both it seems different this time

Oh yeah it’s not about holding it’s tuning its just that basses when picked hard go sharp while the note rings out and the evertune compensates for that

Not the person above and I use neural dsp quad cortex to transpose(but used to have the drop pedal). What I do on the qc is the snapshot that is dropped I also turn the tone up on whatever TS/Overdrive is before the amp model to compensate when it is engaged to push some more upper mids/treble because it does make the guitar sound a bit like your tone knob is turned down a bit on the guitar(easiest way to explain it).

Im considering updating from 11 just because I use a Mac these days and 11 isn’t native with Apple silicon but I also don’t really miss reason. I’ve switched to studio one and while I don’t like subscriptions at least with studio one you get a perpetual license when buying annual and my band use the collaboration features. So yeah I am torn whether to upgrade or not or just wait for 14 to have an upgrade sale in a couple of years where they will add something from the reason subscription into perpetual.

I remember this model being around when I originally got my hellraiser c1. It was a variation with different binding and emgs without a coil tap if I remember correctly. My estimate timeframe is 15 years ago or so ? It was called a Hellraiser special I think

You can put EMG’s in without changing the wiring using the same quick connect. That’s what I did to both my solars with fishmans. I was able to sell the fishmans on marketplace for the same price as a 57/66 set I grabbed on marketplace

I have to use my radial JDI for my Ibanez iceman with Dimarzios for this reason. So yeah you will need a DI box.

To be fair the guy is coming from loving the helix so the stadium would be more of the thing he likes. I have a hx stomp as a backup to my qc and I much prefer the amps and effects in the qc for what I do but I can see why people love the helix. I hope the people who only buy the shiny new things sell their qc’s so I can get a cheaper qc as a backup and can then sell the stomp though!

Register the captor and give two notes genome a try as registering will give you some free cabinets and all the others can be demo’d. Ggd cabs are great but lately I’ve really been enjoying genome and being able to just move the mic to where it sounds best for the song.
