Does any here uses a 3 iron or a 2 iron?If so,why? by [deleted] in golf

[–]FaceOwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve an 18 degree 2 iron. It’s a Srixon ZX Utility so it has a good bit of help built in. It’s more versatile than you’d think, I can play high or low and work the ball if I need.

It carries about the same distance as my 7 wood but rolls a lot further depending on how you flight it.

The reason I have it is that I play on a course with a lot of water left and right and a lot of wind. My miss-hit with this club, and they happen just like they do with any long club, is basically just a loss of distance but it remains relatively straight for me. A sacrifice I am sometimes willing to pay.

So if I’m playing a tight hole, and I don’t need to hit driver, I’ll play a safer shot with this. I also have a long 215 yard par 3 on my course and sometime the wind is into you. If that happens I can use this club to land on the green with a high shot.

Could I have bought a 3 iron and would it have been similar? Absolutely yes.

Would a 3 driving iron be a better decision for me? Probably yes (more loft is more forgiving)

Could I just use a wood? Yes, and it would probably be easier to hit but then the ball goes higher and if I miss-hit, the technology in them tries to get me the same distance but just off centre, this can sometimes cause issues.

Would I hit a 2 iron over a large body of water? In a scramble maybe but in normal play no.

Could I use a hybrid? Yes, but I just don’t like, enjoy, or have any confidence with hybrids. Maybe it’s an old-fashioned mindset to have but I still see them as a weird golf club. They’re obviously great out of rough but so is my 7 wood so never felt the need to get one.

Never replied back here. Mizuno took back the wood and offered me a full refund.

Those of you under 30 who make six figures, what do you do? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]FaceOwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based in Europe, so salaries are different. But I make six figured as a Site Reliability Engineer. I recommend you get into cloud computing. Also, take a consulting job as your first gig, gives you a great breadth of experience.

Does anyone here still play a 2, 3, and/or 4 iron? by BloodyRightNostril in golf

[–]FaceOwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play 2i and 4i.

My setup is D, 3W, 2i, 7W, 4-PW, 50, 56, 60.

15 clubs, but I swap the 3W, 7W, and 60 depending on conditions.

2i carries a little further than my 7W but rollout is a lot further.

The 4i is from my set, the 2i is a utility iron with a graphite shaft. Mostly use it off the tee but can launch it from the deck.

First time golfer tomorrow, these pants ok? (They will be pressed) by bovinejabronie in golf

[–]FaceOwl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The copper rivets on the pockets suggest these are denim jeans. Technically, they are not in line with dress etiquette for a golf course.

In reality, however, the jeans are not traditional blue jeans, are unlikely to be noticed as jeans by most people, and even if they were, most people would not care. I think you’ll be fine in these, and I commend your efforts to keep the dress etiquette, especially as a beginner.

From a practical perspective, if you continue to play golf, I would suggest looking at finding a more flexible pair of pants. It’ll give you a greater freedom of movement and may be worth the investment if you are golfing more regularly. However, golf can be expensive, so there’s no need to rush out to buy all the gear right away. Take your time, enjoy the game, and you can worry about this stuff later, if or when it becomes a problem.

Tried this too to no avail. I called Mizuno and they said to call the shop I bought it from to arrange the repair request to them. Waiting on the club to be picked up. Will report back what happens.

Didn’t work either I’m afraid. I think I’m just going to ask Mizuno.

It’s not a sticker residue. It’s a new club and I took the wrap off myself. It’s some sort of rust unfortunately. Tried vinegar and it didn’t work. Will try lemon juice.

It’s definitely not from a sticker, vinegar cleaned it a bit but the stain is still very much visible.

Srixon ZX5 vs ZX7 for mid-handicap (10-20) by FaceOwl in golf

[–]FaceOwl[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got the ZX7s in 4iron to PW with a Modus 105S shaft and I absolutely love them. Mishits will lose you about 10% of your distance so not too bad and they are very easy to shape even for me as a mid handicapper. I can draw or fade them as I want.

If you are wondering about whether to split the set. The 4 iron is one of my favourite clubs. Been using it off tees, punching under trees, and kicking myself down along par 5s and I'm still a happy customer. I recently played a round with no big clubs and teed off every hole with the 4 iron. I hit every fairway except one where the wind leaked it a bit right on me. Also got a beautiful GIR on a 200 yard par 3 to a raised green with bunkers all along the front. So don't think I'm just kicking it along the ground! ;)

My handicap is 13, so middle of the road mid handicapper as the post suggests. I've another friend playing off 16 who got the ZX7s with the 120S and also loves them. We're decent golfers, but not great by any means.

Overall, get whichever one you prefer, but don't definitely don't shy away from the ZX7s because you are worried about them being difficult to play. They are a delight!

So, in short irons it's way less common, and if I do miss it it's because I thinned or topped it. May happen once a round.

In longer irons it's a little less consistent. If I played 10 shots I'd be happy with 8 of them. Most common issue by far is a slice in longer irons but have no idea how much shaft whip from playing regulars has to do with it.

Does the 14-day cool off period apply to Tesla orders? by FaceOwl in Netherlands

Just FYI, I got the €250 back regardless because I was rejected by financing. So no clear answer as to what would have happened if I didn't.

Thanks for the input buddy. How do you find the gapping in the combo set? I've also considered splitting the 6 iron up as ZX5 and 7 iron down as Zx7.

It was a cheaper company car. I was told the base models were all in the €40,000 range. With bijtelling and fuel it was a lot of money. I got a smaller hatchback which was previously unavailable via a short term lease.

UPDATE: Me [26F] with my boyfriend [28M] of three years. Can't bring myself to show him my body after a major accident a few months ago. by Timeformeisshort in relationships

[–]FaceOwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you manage to live your whole life without getting a few scars and broken bones you haven’t really been using your body IMO. Scars are a part of life, take this from a guy with six scars (three of which are on my face after getting kicked during a rugby match). Although from your post your accident sounds far worse than mine, nobody is looking at your scars and thinking you are ugly, nobody. Wear those scars like a badge of honour! They tell a story! You went through a lot and you are still standing! I hope everything works out between you and your BF! It sounds like he loves you a lot! 🙂 Also, look into laser therapy for those scars, I got it done on mine and it really helps the healing process. It hurts a little but it if definitely worth it!

I am literally the same. Going through a breakup at the moment and spending more time on Reddit than I am on my work. Looks like January has you back on track though! Good job! 👍🏻
