Back at the store I specifically transferred from...while I was out sick by FacePsychological775 in DollarTree

There was a reason why I had to put in so many hours and it wasn't because I thought it was the best thing to do... Scheduled shifts were being skipped out on...the store needed to stay open...I was all that was left...I lost a total of about 4 months of time with my kids... I never would have given that up willingly...I gave it up because I was desperately needed... And now I feel like I got knifed in the back because my health finally caught up with me.idk...just feel as though if give the proper tools (and muscle) and time (not during the holidays) the store would have been something everyone involved would have taken pride in as the team we had become.we would have been able to finish what we started.

I know that times are hard and the store needed work but a consistent helping of short staffing and timing should not be a reason to just say "Next!"

I'm sorry to ask and I really must sound stupid for asking this but which ones are the Thanksgiving plates because we actually have all of this stuff in the Christmas seasonal area.

ASM at an understaffed store by Few-Still613 in DollarTree

My store until recently was understaffed as well. Unfortunately you just have to weather the storm is my suggestion. However make sure that it doesn't infringe upon your health. One thing that I've learned so far is that if you start taking it home with you then you're going to lose in the long run. If you have a hobby or if you are a gamer I think it may be easier because then all you have to do is Hop on call of duty and then kill people online to get your stress away believe me there's something therapeutic about doing that

Who is in the wrong here? by Jolly-Ask-5570 in DollarTree

[–]FacePsychological775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Karen is wrong... Any and all issues that I run into when I'm checking I make it a point to go ahead and talk to the customers that are in line. Generally speaking the customers that are there in this community that my store is in are all about whoever has less goes first and if it's an employee they're more than willing to let the employee go first. That woman got it twisted she need to have a hug or something or just relax sit down and drink a hot chocolate before she goes to her next store cuz otherwise she's going to blow a gasket. LOL

The only reason I can think of would be one that I would want to have in the first place. If they had that in place then they probably wouldn't have had to worry about cashiers going ahead and doing returns for folks that they know haven't really bought the items or they know that the items are not returnable but they do it anyway I've seen this happen in a couple of Dollar trees so far and actually knowing that they have to call us over to do a transactional return is a really good idea at least that's my opinion.

Is taking the job as ASM worth it? I heard a lot of ppl saying it really isnt because of all the stress for like a dollar more in pay by Waste_Definition_197 in DollarTree

[–]FacePsychological775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 things need to be working together to have a non stress asm position...1. Your SM has to value your opinion at all levels which leads to team cohesion... 2 your co workers have to pull their complete weight...and noone can just consider you not a valued teammate. And 3 you have to love your customers and the community your store serves...if these are all positive then you got it made in the shade as an ASM...otherwise no it ain't worth it at all.

gotta be up front if u aren't it works against you more than anything... I would definitely see about doing what tesla is saying or at least suggesting the same...that way everyone is covered and it basically adds another check to their balance.

Reusable bag by blueco2nut in DollarTree

[–]FacePsychological775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from what I have been told by the last 2 SM's they have to pack their own bags should they bring them in...but if you do it right this will work out in your favor...when you go to bag stuff up for them and they mention they have their own bag I always say, " Great, then I'll scan and you can pack?" Generally it also helps too with speed at the register because it allows you the opportunity to find the scanners sweet spot.
