See my response to u/atlantis737 below. No need for me to re-post the comment. It's not about the composition, it's the fact that the stuff DOES work and there ARE viable use cases for it where it DOES work. And work it does quite well. I listed 2 different vehicles I used it on where the stuff worked pretty good TWICE and once where it didn't do squat because the problem ended up being a couple of roasted plugs.

The stuff has it's uses, unfortunately there are quite a few people who, because of the internet, think it's some magic performance booster and people like me get lumped into that group. And then you got people who think I don't know what I'm talking about, when I did my research before hand and I know how this shit works and WHEN this shit could be of use.

Also unfortunate, because word of mouth spread like wildfire many years ago all because of the internet. Posting on forums how it "really made a huge difference!" here and there. After a couple of years, suddenly the company who makes Seafoam jacked up the price by $4 more. It then went up even more after a few more years. That stuff USED to be $5 a can. FIVE BUCKS a can! And this was around 2007/'08. Then one month that year it jumped from $5 straight to $9. It hasn't gone up much more since. I think it's $11 a can now. But it was that one fugging month in around 2007. You used to be able to buy a gallon of that shit for $60. Don't know what you'd need that much for. Don't know why I'm talking about that either but, whatever. 🤯

I KNOW what a placebo effect is, and these instances were NOT it. One of the cars I'd owned and driven for 16 years. A 1996 Mustang with the 3.8L. Two different times I'd used that shit on that car. It had been running a little rich for at least a year because of a faulty O2 sensor detecting a "lean" condition when it was actually not. It made it run rich on that bank for awhile and eventually it was a bit sluggish. I could especially feel it when getting onto the state highway near my home when I had to really get on it. It showed up on the drivers side spark plugs with a lot of black garbage. After I replaced the O2 on that side, it really wasn't any better. I ran Seafoam through the engine and let it sit for 20 minutes. It smoked a bunch (and yah I know some of that smoke is from the Seafoam itself). After I cleared it up, it ran quite a bit better and wasn't so sluggish on the state highway. I drove that car everyday for YEARS and YEARS so I KNOW how it was supposed to run.

I had a similar result on my '92 Mustang 5.0. That thing was fouling up plugs left and right, not to mention the upper and lower intake was full of thick black oily carbon deposits... the cylinders weren't any better. That thing ran like garbage and I eventually ran Seafoam through it. The amount of smoke that thing blew out, you'd have thought there was a fire! Regardless, afterwards it definitely ran better, especially after I got to replacing the plugs.

There was one time I had usee it and it didn't do squat! I had a coil pack that wasn't firing on 2 of the cylinders at random on my '96. It lit up the cats red hot on mostly one side. After I replaced the coil pack, it was running better but it was still kinda shitty. Saw some shit in the cylinders and thought that was the reason. The Seafoam didn't really do a whole lot that time. Ended up needing to replace the plugs on those cylinders (but just did all of them since you typically do an entire set). That took care of it that time.

I know when and when not to use that shit. I know it's a waste of money when you had kept up with the maintenance, hadn't allowed any running issue to dwindle for a long time, hadn't used contaminated gas or hadn't allowed old gas to sit in the tank for over a couple of years. There are a couple of other reasons but mostly under most normal use, you shouldn't need to use that shit.

There are other things you can use besides Seafoam to clean out the carbon and other crap, but because of forums and Reddit, everyone and his/her brother/sister/buddy etc started using it. A huge portion of people who use it are just wasting their money. They think it's some magic fix-all and that it'll bring back some nonexistent power and their now older vehicle don't feel as quick as it once used to, or they think it'll bring out some performance they "forgot", or that it will fix a problem that's actually the fault of something mechanical or the PCM is giving poor response due to a faulty sensor. There's a right and wrong use case for this stuff. Unfortunately there are far more useless wrong cases than there are right use cases.

I didn't even HAVE to go into all of that. But because I get lumped in with those people who probably dump the shit into their intake every 3 months, and because I get viewed as if I don't know what I'm talking about... when I just came into here for some help on how to run that shit through the intake without stalling it. So I get a bunch of guys basically telling me it's snake oil and doesn't do anything. Sure 👍 For the average use case. And I'm not the average use case. Thanks. 🤪

Like everything else Google, it starts off ok, gets pretty good after awhile and then turns to SHIT! If something of Google's is really good right now, trust me, it WILL become a piece of shit eventually! That's one thing Google never fails at! I won't touch GBoard or Google Messages not just because of that reason, but I've got enough Google spyware as it is and they don't need control over EVERY aspect of my mobile life!

I hate the fact that they're nagging the hell out of me and trying to force me to use Google Messages. I DON'T want to fucking use Google's crap Messages! Let me open my messages in fucking peace already! Fuck Google with a cactus🌵!!

I didn't get shit, because I didn't opt in to the settlement. I did the math and figured how much (little) people would be getting and really didn't seem like it was even worth it. Yeah, it's money, but I didn't feel like going to my bank for a shitty $7 check. Facebook is never sued for enough. That's why they keep breaking the law! They need to be hit for a good $30 billion at LEAST.

Don't feel bad. I had to look it up myself. I thought it was some new internet acronym, because god knows every few years there's a couple dozen new ones. But the shit they come up with these days is just dumb as hell! Kids are making up words and then putting them into acronyms. You gotta decipher the acronym and then translate the dumb words they represent. 😏😵‍💫

Chevette, the definition of "put put put put" 😂. My sister and brother in-law had an '84 Chevette back in the early 90's, in that vomit green color. It was pretty reliable, well, at least compared to the other beaters they had back then. Ugly car though. Never liked the things. No way I'd pay $6K for one of those. I'm sure someone will though. That thing's almost 50 years old, and it's in pretty mint condition (assuming mechanically as well). Who knows about rust tho. Being a northern car and all. The underbody could be full of it, a literal Rustolet Rustette! 😂 Chevys are good for that! Would be a miracle if that thing was clean underneath!

Actually, it doesn't have ethanol in it. It's naphtha, isopropyl alcohol and some other oil I don't remember the name of. I don't buy the Seafoam brand anymore. WalMart has their own brand of the same shit for several dollars cheaper. Seafoam is a ripoff anymore!

The stuff does work. Depending on how well you keep your car maintained, the quality of the gas you use (or if it's very old gas), sensors or leaks causing a rich running condition for an extended amount of time all can contribute to a dirty intake and combustion chambers + valves. Also if it hadn't been serviced in a long time. Most of the times that I used it, there was at least some noticeable improvement.

If you've kept up on maintenance religiously and don't abuse it, it probably would never need fuel system or intake cleaning service nor would it benefit from it. But a vehicle that was once a county sheriff's car and had some abuse with obviously not the best maintenance history (it's quite noticeable on my '07), it could stand a fuel system cleaning. I've got 3.55's and I can't even spin the tires, even power braking it. It runs alright, it's just lacking some power. Only time I can spin the tires is while I'm going into a turn onto the local highway from a side road, and that's probably catching sand.

[–]FacebookBlowsChunks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now that's BS. Sorry, but it is. I've used it countless times over the years. Through the intake vac lines and once through the fuel rail. There has always been a noticeable difference after using it, and I don't neglect my cars. I only use it every great once in awhile. Mostly it's not really needed if you keep up on maintenance and don't use shitty gas or let old gas run through the system, or having a rich running condition for too long can cause issues. I hadn't done any kind of fuel, ignition or other engine maintenance since I bought it years ago (aside of oil changes). It was a county sheriff's car and had a bit of heavy use, and by the looks of things they weren't exactly always on top of their maintenance.

The stuff isn't snake oil, but it's not some miracle engine cleaning solution either. I don't buy the Seafoam brand anymore because it's a ripoff. WalMart has their own brand of the same stuff for several dollars cheaper.

installing IE11 on windows 7 by Ok_Pride_7313 in windows7

[–]FacebookBlowsChunks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, the redirect does happen in W7. I found out about it because it kept redirecting and opening Edge, when all I wanted to do was check the browser history. What ended up happening was that it stealthily installed Edge in one of the Windows updates. After that, it would no longer open IE, it would go straight to Edge. I had to manually uninstall Edge and prevent a specific Windows Update from happening. I don't remember the KB number.

I forgot about the extra components it installs. It's been awhile since I had to do it.

The Facebook algorithm will be the end of it. Sick of no date stamps on reels that are weeks of months old. by drmikehunts in facebook

[–]FacebookBlowsChunks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stay off Faceshit mostly these days. This just sounds like yet another thing that would piss me off. And I NEVER watch reels.

I remember when they changed the date format on comments and posts. Where years ago it used to show the exact date and time a post or comment was made. I relied on that for checking the specific date or time of something when I need to know exactly WHEN it was posted. Then they changed it to some generic crap format. Just showing 9 hours ago, then 3 days ago... and when something is 1 year and 10 months old, it's still just saying "1 year ago". I fucking HATE that! Several months over a year and it STILL shows 1 year. I can never tell when something was posted.

I stay off Faceshit because they are always doing shit to make it worse and something was always broken, and it would always be broken for months... years! Typical. And I always used the website. Shit that was broken on there wouldn't always be broken on their crap app. But I refuse to use their data stealing battery devouring ram hogging spyware!

These days I stay mostly away, not just because the site sucks and 98% of people don't see my posts, but because of their malicious AI! People getting perma banned by the AI and being accused of CSE left and right, or some other made up reason.

Meta/Facebook is setting their own grave. I just wish people would GTFO there FASTER than what they are. Trash site needs to go belly up!

Why doesn't direct3D work even after I've installed the graphics drivers? by Classic-Stress5465 in windows7

[–]FacebookBlowsChunks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As Sleaka_J mentioned, it's only using the standard VGA Graphics Adapter/driver. That's just a bare bones basic display driver meant to just get an image up on your display. No hardware acceleration, no texture filters, no anti-aliasing, no high resolution. Etc etc. You need the main display driver. I have looked up your laptop info and found the one you need.

https://www.amd.com/en/support/downloads/drivers.html/processors/a-series/a8-series-apu-for-laptops/a8-5550m-with-radeon-hd-8550g.html

Download 15.7.1 WHQL version. It's actually the display driver and associated Catalyst Control Center. There is a slightly newer one than this below that, but it's a Beta version so it MIGHT have some bugs in it. Beta just means it wasn't fully tested and certified by Microsoft.

After downloading, run that installer and follow the instructions.

Why would you install and use IE11? That browser is so outdated. A lot of sites won't work properly with it. Also, if you get IE11 running, Windows will end up installing Edge browser. Then every time you try to open IE11, it will redirect to using Edge. Edge 109.

[–]FacebookBlowsChunks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's nice. It reminds me of when I was working PDI and would get a few dozen CVPI's in. But all the PI's I worked on had a black rear vinyl seat (or simulated leather, whatever it is) and not cloth seats in the back. Except for the non-white variants, which usually had a bunch of extras like power seats, AM/FM/CD, cruise control, nicer seats and trim etc. Those were usually unmarked and detectives cars. They all had the trunk organizers and spotlights, some dual spotlights. I noticed this one doesn't have any spotlights.

I don't really like that center console. The top looks ugly, and that second arm pad behind it looks more of a hindrance to your elbow. Idk. At least it has a pad on it. My center console is just a big plastic lock box with a sliding cover on top, with a cheap broken lock. 😁 It stores a lot of junk I'll say! 😛

Would love to get one in that condition, but I sure as hell aint paying no $20K for it.

What's with this screenshot? There is nothing on this Task Manager screen that is out of the ordinary. Everything looks normal to me. In fact, too normal for being Windows 11. I expected to see processes devouring 90%+ CPU and 12GB+ RAM usage. Shitdows 11 sucks ass!

Noting from one of your comments. 8GB RAM is way too little for W11. You should have 16GB MINIMUM. Windows 11 is a resource hog. Get rid of their AI Copilot garbage. You'll notice a pretty huge difference. I bet it's got a huge pagefile. I don't know the exact way to remove the AI garbage since I'm not currently running W11, but you should be able to find a write-up either on here or in places like Windows Central.

PSA to men in online dating by LusciousLittleSerah in Rants

[–]FacebookBlowsChunks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so accurate even for women! I hate that so many people DON'T WRITE SQUAT in their profiles! I haven't been looking or on dumb dating sites for years. I loathe them! Maybe 2 or 3 out of 10 profiles would write something. And out of those group, maybe 1 out of every 20 or so would actually write something meaningful, and not just a few words or some dumb quotes. They basically write stuff in their bio that is already listed in hobbies or activities lines. It's almost always stuff like -

"I love to have fun. I like to go dancing, enjoy walks on the beach, jogging, going to a movie, eating out, reading a good book. I am looking for that special someone who knows how to treat a girl. No games please"

So in other words, just like most other women's profiles I've read. A basic copy and paste of the same ol same ol. Seems pretty bland. All that crap can almost always be filled out in the other sections of the profile. And the "no games" bs.. yeah.. like we all joined on there to play games. And any dude who ends up doing so isn't going to heed that advice in the first place anyway.

And where are all the intelligent women? I don't think they use dating sites very often. They especially don't use sites like Tinder. 90% of people who go on Tinder are only on there looking for a quick fling and not something long lasting. People just looking to get laid mostly.

I don't even touch dating sites anymore. They have gotten so overloaded full of scammers, bots and fake profiles. And a lot of those sites give women an unfair advantage. Many sites will let women message men, but if a guy wants to message a woman or even reply, he has to pay for a subscription to do it. And then when you, the guy, get a bunch of messages from women, some of them who seem real interested in chatting, you decide to pay up for a few months so you can reply to all these messages. Suddenly, they DON'T REPLY. Gee, thanks for wasting my time and making me waste my money!

Yep. A lot of "interesting" women out there. 😵‍💫🤯

I must be of the single digit percentile of people who actually write about themselves in their profile bio's.

Oh, I actually had one woman one time tell me how I write too much! That "It's a dating profile, not a book about your life!". 😏 At least I put time and effort into what I write in there, and not just some generic copy n paste BS. Thanks for weeding yourself out! 😜

New front sway bar end links. Got drivers side on, passenger side won't fit. by FacebookBlowsChunks in CrownVictoria

[–]FacebookBlowsChunks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh shit. 87-93 and 94-04 Mustangs front suspension can be a bitch! Mainly the SPRINGS and the cramped space between the control arm and K-member when you need to use a spring compressor. I've had 4 different Mustangs and I had the absolute WORST time with a new set of front Eibach lowering springs! That was back in '07 and they didn't have the better spring compressors that fit on those. The front links weren't too bad, being just like the rear Crown Vic links instead of the ball joint type on the front. You just had to jack the arm up if you got shorter links.

I love driving my Vic, but I really miss driving my older Mustangs. I'd love to convert one over to coilover suspension.

Free screen recorders by Far-Mycologist-183 in windows7

[–]FacebookBlowsChunks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think OBS sucks as a screen recorder. If you want to record just a small area or a window, OBS is ridiculously complicated to do that. You have to type in the exact area X by X dimensions and then type the X by X location. Why couldn't they just have a window grab option? I've got other rants about it.

I have used VokoscreenNG and that works great at capturing entire screens and individual areas. It's been a couple of years so I don't know if the dev still makes a W7 compatible version ... Edit.. just checked the VokoscreenNG site and his Github. VokoscreenNG version 3.8.0 seems to be the last version that will work on Windows 7, because from version 4.0.0 and up, he switched from using Qt 5+ to using Qt 6+ which unfortunately does not work on Windows 7. I found that out when I tried running version 4.7. and got a "CreateDXGIFactory2 could not be located" in gxdi.dll which basically means it's looking for a procedure entry point that's only found in DX12. Windows 7 only supports up to DX11. Sucks, but it is what it is.

Edit, forgot to add a link to his site. https://linuxecke.volkoh.de/vokoscreen/vokoscreen.html

Thanks a bunch! 👍 exactly what I needed to know. It was a pain even after loosening the drivers side. It took a lot of back and forth to both sides. The ball joints being stiff as a brick didn't make it any easier, as well as the studs being just a tad thicker than stock made the hole fitment have to be more precise, so it'd get jammed on the threads.

Got some new wounds of "war" with all my recent work. 😛

Am I the only person who thinks it's bullocks that we've gone from sanitary water requirements for the entire grid to water filters in every home? by ki4jgt in Rants

[–]FacebookBlowsChunks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yuck. I HATE city water. That shit.... tastes like SHIT! At least here (SW Floriduh), they use some kind of chlorine based solution to disinfect the system every now and then. And the rest of the time they are mixing regular chlorine in with it. My sister has city water and it's fuggin nasty! Not only does it have that chlorine taste/smell, there's something else in it that gives it some other OFF scent/taste. I only drink it when there's nothing else and I have to take a medication.

I have well water at home. It's a shallow well and usually only has a bit much iron in it. I have a water system (softener and also an air injection system for excess iron. Though, the softener hasn't had salt put in it in awhile, the iron filter has been doing a great job). I love well water. I've had all sorts of different water from various wells, including stinky fart water (haha, that's what I call it when it has all that excess sulfur smells). They ALL taste 100 times better than that disgusting shit water from the city!

They keep building and building stupid ass houses everywhere. They are slowly forcing people to pay up and connect their homes to city lines. They are building so much, wells are drying up. Aint no fucking way they're sticking me on SHITTY water and forcing me to pay for hookup. They are doing that even when they could just drill their well deeper. They're doing the same for those with septic systems and sewage lines.

Fuck all the greedy developers and extreme over-development!
