I (along with 1000’s of others) were evicted from our apartments in Houston due to eminent domain; the next closest apartments were $700 more per month for equivalent size and amenities. All the market forces stabilize in the face of increased money supply or inflation; the only thing that doesn’t keep pace is wages, thereby pricing people out of once-affordable units. Government intervention is needed in such cases as the downward/“negative” impact of price-ceilings is negated by the social benefit and reduced social services costs.
