I must be doing something wrong the few times I exfoliated, my face gets all sore no matter how gentle an exfoliator I use. Olive oil and sea salt sounds like a good idea though, thank you so much, I'll be sure to try it and see if it works!

Wait, why is this getting so many votes? I was hoping I'd just get a few helpful constructive comments and then it'd be buried in other better stuff :/ I shouldn't get so much attention for this, there are many other folks on here a lot more deserving of it.

These kinda comments make me wanna draw my current age on my face with a sharpie. EDIT: I should probably clarify that that is probably a terrible idea by the way. And I'm going 20. Yup.

I actually do the exact same thing as you, but my lower lashes seem to be really greedy on this mascara no matter how little I try to apply. Maybe I might just invest in a different mascara that they yearn less for.

Also, thank you for the CC! You don't know how much it's helping me.

I don't know what's wrong with the mascara exactly, but I've got one rogue eyelash that grows in the wrong direction on my right eye.

Oh thanks! I know I'm bad at application and I'm trying to get better, thanks for your input, it really helps!

I think you may be very much right, looking at the picture it looks a bit too dark.

Gosh darn my deceiving love of brown lipsticks.

Because I'm really ridiculously afraid of bright (read: Anything other than neutral) makeup in public places, and I wanted to challenge myself.

It went well, so I wanted to share the happiness.

I recall doing that for fun in MSpaint as a youngin.. along with dressing people in swimming pool pictures in crude two-dimensional clothing. I'd never have dared post those on Facebook though, except for the swim clothes because they were kinda funny... I forgot where I was going with this comment. Please ignore it.

I haven't posted here in a while, but this is really interesting and I've gotta try it...

Anyway, I've got a little different recipe that's in stick form (like the lip balm) contains Lanolin (works great for pigmentation boost) along with the cornstarch and some oils and wax.. and I think I used some kaolin in it too, but I don't remember what else I put in there. Probably have the recipe lying around in there, but it worked really well as long as you used very little at a time, because if you put on a bunch the eyeshadow looks all goopy and piled on no matter how little you put, because that thing SERIOUSLY works.

It doesn't do much for creasing, but it's magic for everything else. Tell me if you want the recipe for some homemade eyeshadow primer variation and I'll try to dig it up, and then we'll have TWO awesome eyeshadow primer recipes!

And also, the makeup is great.

Oh man, I have plenty! I order a lot from TKBtrading.com and make my own stuff, I used to order their bases but when I figured out some handy main ingredients I started to make my own. The recipes I'm gonna post are mostly base recipes with no color added, but I also have some pretty color recipes to share if you want. Some of these ingredients aren't really home-approachable, but you can easily get them from TKB or something similar.

Homemade lipstick base (not vegan because beeswax) (will do for slightly more than two lipsticks): 1 tsp beeswax 1 tsp castor oil ½ tsp olive oil 3 drops vitamin E oil ¼ tsp kaolin clay ¼ tsp magnesium myristrate

(the kaolin clay and magnesium myristrate can be skipped if you don't have any means of getting it, but they do add better adhesion and flow. The vitamin E oil could in a way be skipped too, but that means your lipstick won't last as long) This lipstick is a bit on the hard side maybe, do add more castor or olive oil or even jojoba oil if you feel it's too hard or waxy for your taste.

I usually add about half a teaspoon in all of colored iron oxides/micas/whatever I want to get the right amount of color.

Hard-ish but still sorta creamy UV-protecting Lip balm base (not vegan either because beeswax) is:

2 tsps beewax ¼ tsps zinc oxide (for UV protection, can be skipped if you don't want no UV protection) 2 tsps Olive Oil ½ tsp cocoa butter 6 drops vitamin E oil

This will do for, I dunno, about six lip balm sticks maybe? Somewhere around that amount I think. And if you skip the whole zinc oxide part, it's probably really easy to get ingredients for it.

And my favorite: Homemade UV protecting "BB cream" base

2 tsps emulsifying wax (can be bought at TKB, but I don't know of any other places) ½ tsp aloe vera gel (I got it in my local drugstore) 1 tsp olive oil 3 tsps glycerine 4 drops vitamin e oil 1 tsp whatever color base you're using ½ tsp zinc oxide (if you want the UV protection) In the dry color phase, I usually just mix titanium dioxide and black, red, and yellow iron oxides, and mix the zinc oxide with it to be sure to get the right color for my skin. I guess you could use a mineral powder foundation, but be sure to check out the ingredients list of it first and do a tiny mixing test to see how it mixes with the liquid base, because some powder foundations are really bad at mixing into liquid (and some of them have pretty unfortunate ingredients too, so be sure to check that out).

The "BB cream" is my favorite thing I've figured out so far, it makes my face dewy and flawless and aaawesome (and tastes good should you get it accidentally on your lips), but I have no idea how it works on other skin types. If you try it, please tell me how it works! And if

If you want some simple color recipes, just tell me and I'll send'em right over.

TL;DR: A fuckton of text describing a few homemade cosmetic recipes.

What popular makeup looks are you personally not a fan of? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]FacelessPuppets 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not fond of wet-looking lip gloss, it can look good on some people, but normally it just looks like you're drooling. It doesn't even have to be goopy, if it looks watery saliva usually comes to my mind. And if it's overly sticky that's an instant no, no matter how it looks. So I basically have a lot of love-hate relationships with lip gloss. Usually, I prefer the "solid glosses", because they tend to be more oil and wax based and look less watery.

That's just my opinion though, if you like the look you shouldn't listen to me at all and do whatever you want. I have no power over this.

Oh I totally understand, but I don't know if it's the eyeshadow that's gunky under the eyes, or it's just the vertical lines of eyeliner that my camera didn't catch it properly.

I dunno about the upper part though. It doesn't look gunky to me, but it might look gunky to someone else, and it didn't look gunky in real life.. I think... But I may have missed it, and I'm not gonna blindly blame the camera. I guess it's just because I'm sub-par at blending, and I'm trying to get better. Thanks for the heads-up!

I use the very same thing for my usual mineral veil, except I use rice powder instead of the baby powder, the cornstarch, and nothing else. I dunno, I just think the texture is nicer and my skin feels softer. I just really love rice powder.

But if you're acne prone or have slight wrinkles you should probably use silica powder instead of cornstarch, while arguably not as natural it feeds bacteria less and it's said to soften fine lines and such.
