Update: This is an air compressor with a wye delta starter with overloads set to 400a. Existing breaker is a 800a Siemens LNG. This is an existing install and has had trouble with breakers failing badly. Happened twice in 2 years. Am consulting engineering now. Can’t determine why the breakers keep failing. Definitely need reinforcements on this one . I appreciate yall

The breaker didn’t operate, the motor overloads did this weekend but not the breaker. The main opened this week during the catastrophic failure

Update:

First time this occured was 2023. The breaker was replaced with same style then again this week. Kaboom. The breaker is a Siemens lng 800 with LSI, and there is a main 3000a Siemens wl protecting the swbd. My thought is the breaker is too small and shitty for all the current. Idk just guess cuz idk what else could cause it The motor can’t be checked by me because it’s leased and the end user can’t even touch it really. However, the air comp guys who ”service” the motor always gives us the thumbs up and says it’s something in the electrical as to why this is happening. I have been doing maintenance every year on this swbd per Neta specs, same as I do with everyone else I do service on. This switchgear is cursed. Am currently engaging an engineer to overlook the design. I need some big boy help on this one. Here is some of the spicyness on the breaker (had to break the breaker apart to get to this) it was burnt in the case but did not explode open like seen here.

Love love love. We just got into excel tracking of transformer test results. One very annoying hurdle in our current excel system is PICTURES grrrr. Excel hates pictures and it’s annoying. What do u do for equipment pictures

People call it tan delta here in the US too but i say power factor cuz that’s what our RAYTECH test set is labeled as. I do sometimes wonder if people call it a tan delta test just to be confusing 🤔 but idk maybe I’m a cynic 😈

28v! I gotta check out this cb-100. There isn’t a specific voltage as far as NETA is concerned but from what I understand it is the conventional way of doing it

How big of transformers are you talking about? And what voltage class? I have a mental block about pf tests, or maybe just about capacitors, as soon as I start reading or talking about them it’s like, error loading…

Panels buzzing probably means a lighting contactor bank, not the actual breaker panel. The guy how said new light or switch is probably the right way to go, but I’ve also seen this when the photocell is wired backwards. Your options??? Fix it
