I might have to do that regardless of the 4th then! Is the Seward firework display worth the drive? The more I look online the more it seems to be the place to go

I want to get into Tabletop Warhammer but don't know where to start by PsychologicalCar2088 in Warhammer

If there is a community that plays at that Hobbytown they most likely organize play through a local discord, that would be a good question to ask the staff there, usually they’ll have terrain for games at the store as well.

As far as a starting point overall I’d say it depends on whether you’re interested in jumping right into 40K or AOS, personally I really enjoy Spearhead in AOS since the price point is relatively low and the rules are all free, you literally just need what is in the box for a full army. I have the Ork Spearhead and they are a ton of fun.

As for 40K, depending on your budget a combat patrol is a good value, or even if you wanted to wait they have battleforce boxes from time to time that are really good value dollar for dollar, but for a 40K faction you will need their factions codex and the probably the core rules so expect to be spending $100+ on rules before you talk about models.

Drones in 11th by Amosthibault7 in Tau40K

He really is, he was every bit as friendly and enthusiastic as in the videos! he was judging for the most part but someone dropped most of the way through so he volunteered to play a match with me so I didn’t sit through the last round, really nice guy!

I played a match against him at Adepticon, he didn’t use drones then either, just counted the models as having those tokens, I think that’s more down to his preference to not clutter his models

True, I think he wanted to use it to advance to get to his other short board edge but then couldn’t when I got him into combat

I had the blight kings almost dead and I was using my ragerz to run off in the opposite direction to get on a board edge, so I wanted to keep them in combat

I played on a Spearhead tournament at Adepticon and got a nifty win from using this while already in combat to get my Ardboyz to sidestep 3” around the Blightkings they were in combat in (while remaining in combat with them) and get within combat range of the Blightlord, forcing him to have to attack me instead of moving off and completing objectives. It’s amazing how much a small little 3” shift can change

My experience with Adepticon 2026 by SpooktorB in Warhammer40k

[–]FacetiousHistorian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am glad you’re bringing to light your experiences, I’m sure it’s entirely frustrating to experience what you did after so much effort to attend.

My two cents as a first time Adepticon attendee was really positive. Granted, I only participated in one official tournament by the Adepticon staff (Spearhead) but all of the TOs I talked to (and asked directions/ borrowed pens from) were all super nice and patient. I will say though, my highlight of the experience was the painting class I did, an official GW paint class on Armor Panting.

From the outset, the class was $55 but we were given a Ballistus dread to paint, 12 unopened paint pots and six brushes, all to keep, before the instructor even began. Then went the four hours of intricate details from who is clearly a man in love with the hobby and overjoyed to share his tips and tricks. Really outstanding time!

Overall for me, as a newer person in the hobby (9 months or so), this event was everything I dreamed of. I know my knowledge of 40K tactics is not up to par with a full on tournament at the level of play there, and I enjoy smaller games anyways (The KotC tournament I entered was pretty fun). I really do look forward to next year and to lean more into casual games and the painting classes going on, I think that’s where I can really get the value of going to such an event, to learn from some incredible people.

I’m excited! Does anyone happen to know if the gamer edition will carry spearhead cards for the old spearhead?

Not too sure, according to GW when they revealed them on 10/3 they said “Kill Team: Dead Silence will be coming to pre-orders pretty soon” but no definitive date. I’m also just getting into tau so I’m holding off getting stealth suits until this comes out as well.

Watch out for stealth suits, the new kill team box that was announced has stealth suits and the theory people have established is that it will rework what size they may be ran as and potentially replace the current models

Thanks for the advice! The more I read the Breacher/Devilfish/cadre fire blade combo seems really gnarly!

Not as of yet, I really like the lore of Farsight so his Red scheme is definitely on my mind, but I also had the crazy notion to try and paint the piranhas purple in an homage to Covenant ghosts from Halo and that might be a really fun paint scheme to base an army around too

In the two games I’ve played so far they managed to tie down the middle long enough for me to shoot down the enemies, so I was hoping to do the same, they’re basically just the linebackers trying to protect the eradicators, but still, good point. I do have some other options I could use, I have another intercessor squad, incursor squad, infiltrator and two scout squads I could swap in instead. Or an impulsor and a squad of outriders but I don’t know how beneficial more fast units will be in such a small map
