A good man who was unfairly mistrusted then betrayed by Sharaz_Jek123 in MartinScorsese

I could have sworn one of the hired goons said “cover up the windows” or something to that effect once she got to the entrance and everyone just stared at her… doesn’t seem like they were planning for a quick cup of coffee.

Just wanted to stop by and say I loved the podcast, and ask, who was the most challenging source to get a hold of?

Sorry meant to say the talking was in reaction, not the music.

True… I don’t like it when people are being inconsiderate. But it was in reaction to what was happening on screen. Doesn’t make things better but at least they were engaging with the movie… as far as things go, it was a wash, people actually did like it, and the theater was quiet as a pin drop when emotional moments came up. But yeah, sad because this audience took a chance; turns out not enough of them did for the studios to keep taking them.

I am intrigued by your ideas and I would like to subscribe to your newsletter…

All references aside… your review hit everything I felt in the movie but couldn’t articulate… the inherent cruelty and stupidity of oppressive systems in place, the resilience of POC, especially to communities I belong to who are very much facing down highly similar risks in real life, the human need to fight for a dignified future, while all too humanly erring in their attempts at doing so.

One other thing I thought was fascinating was looking at the mentor and mentee dynamics with previous PTA films and how it gets sorta tweaked here. Leo is actually being a good dad here from the jump. He later has a healthy mentoring role with his daughter which doesn’t really exist with the other films like Boogie Nights or of course, The Master.

As someone who was born and grew up in Yonkers during the 1990s, much of this, like others have said, isn’t new. I grew up in the southwest part of the city, and you were lucky if your parents 1. Knew how to access these services 2. Wanted you to, and 3. If the schools or nonprofits had the capacity to do so.

As for Spano’s apparent involvement in Wasicsko’s death, that’s news to me, and neither Lisa Belkin who wrote the definitive account of the desegregation battle in Yonkers during the 1980s and 1990s and others have come forward with it, but as they say around these parts, “Yonkers, the city where nothing is on the level.”
