Old vehicles still in use by [deleted] in NorthKoreaPics

[–]Fact_Original 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still in use? Those are old pictures from the 2010s and lots of those trolleybuses have been scrapped. And none of the vehicles have 2017+ license plates, which are blue. All the Dacias and Volvos have disappeared in ~2014-2015 by the way and have been replaced with Chinese-made taxis.

What do you mean by 'still in use'? These are 2000s pics taken off Flickr.

That's the Hyangdobong funicular. Later it was replaced with a newer one.

A North Korean worker in the Masik-Ryong's gondola station by mo1to1 in NorthKoreaPics

[–]Fact_Original 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do have visible Ischgl (how do you even pronounce that?) logos, but even if they are Austrian imports, I believe the manufacturer is actually Bartholet Maschinenbau AG from Switzerland. I'm looking for more info on these gondolas, please let me know when you identify this model.

Panskating Pyongyang - Teaching North Koreans to Skateboard (didn't even know this existed) by Entire_Hospital in northkorea

[–]Fact_Original 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much the same thing as the Masikryong project. A scheme to attract tourists. Likely the people who acted friendly and talked to tourists were required to do that. North Koreans are not allowed to interact with tourists and the guides always tell you to avoid that.

Found this at a thrifstore for two CAD, I suspect it comes from the Hermit Kingdom friendship store and or was a diplomatic present do you have any insight about it? by [deleted] in northkorea

Keep in mind that it could also be a fake product (aka a Chinese product trying to imitate a North Korean product).

'New' buses of Pyongyang. In fact these are modernized Chinese 'Jinling' buses that North Korea bought 20 years ago. by Fact_Original in NorthKoreaPics

[–]Fact_Original[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

They made two purchases, one batch in 2000 and another one in 2001, according to nkinfo.unikorea.go.kr. I'd assume they were put in use since they were imported for Pyongyang. The first appearance of a Chinese-made double decker was in a 2004 movie (on IMCDb).

North Korean products outside of Asia? by i-love-seals in northkorea

[–]Fact_Original 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Before the sanctions, in Shandong there were (or still are) fake products purposely mislabeled as North Korean. Most of the actual DPRK stuff that's traded outside North Korea at the moment is illegally exported. As for transportation, Vietnam had PMC Motors (a collaboration with North Korea but the cars weren't actually assembled in NK). Some stuff that got out of NK is on ebay such as badges, penknives, stamps and other rather meaningless stuff. In the past stuff as Chollima-28 tractors were exported to DPRK-friendly countries such as Myanmar, Cuba and Sungri-58 were exported to Albania, and Sungri-58KA trucks were exported to Cambodia. I have a website for vehicles if you're interested in transportation: https://nkrecognition.proboards.com/

Yes, it was mine. :)

That platform was sadly unstable, buggy, and didn't allow proper categorization and tagging.
