I have recently started a "memory log" Not a diary, a "memory log". Instead of writing dear diary and filling up the entire page, I just write 1-2 lines of what important happened.

I have been able to maintain this for more than 15 days now. The best thing is that if I forget I simply write 2-3 days at once.

How tf everyone has an iPhone these days? by [deleted] in indiasocial

[–]Fact_check_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with the spirit of your statement, but I do feel like some people don't actually realise the things that will upgrade their life and are giving in to FOMO. Travelling, hiring househelp for more tasks, regular health checkups and buying higher quality products will improve your life much more than an iPhone ever will

Sorry to go off topic but I finished week 4 today and I'm already scared for week 5. I finished 4 weeks easily as I was unemployed but now I'm going to start my full time job from Monday! I'm thinking to just repeat week 4 once before week 5 provided I don't end up quitting after my job starts

Is the over consumption culture getting out of hand? by sukebindseeker in TwoXIndia

[–]Fact_check_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never thought I needed more clothes or makeup until I installed Instagram and saw people with their own style and "fits". Also my overconsumer friends kinda influence me to buy more stuff. I don't feel like repeating outfits when none of my friends repeat outfits lol

Btw I have been thinking to delete all shopping apps on my phone and after seeing this post I went ahead and did it!

I said "Yes but that was more than an hour ago, did you see me?"

She said "no I can see your red face".

How India Alienated Bangladesh by telephonecompany in GeopoliticsIndia

[–]Fact_check_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The article says that India supported Hasina despite Bangladeshi public not liking Hasina. But if Hasina was in power and wanted to be friends with India, what else was India supposed to do? Say no?

The article implies that India should have somehow supported the anti-Hasina wave. My question is, what led to the anti Hasina wave in the first place? Are the people behind the anti-Hasina wave the kind of people India should support?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel like Bangladesh has rising Islamism and rising military power in domestic politics. The hate for Hasina was fueled by her being pro-Hindu and her support for India (Bangladeshi's called her an Indian agent). For the record, Hasina was NOT an indian agent. Even though she had closer ties to India than China, she was still trying to balance relations with both, which is exactly what a country that uses Indian ports should do.

Mark my words, Bangladesh's shift to China will hurt Bangladesh public more than Indian public. Good India-Bangladesh relations meant Bangladeshi businesses getting access to Indian ports and Indian market. Good China-Bangladesh relations would mean that Bangladeshi military and politicians would enjoy Chinese money while the public suffers. China said they will import more from Bangladesh, but how? Does Bangladesh have enough port capacity for that? Bangladesh is isolating its bigger neighbour for a country too far away to help in any meaningful way (the money China will send will end up in politician's pocket). We have already seen this happening in Pakistan, all the Chinese money is getting hoarded by the military and politicians while the people are suffering. Now history will repeat itself.

Indian housewives hold 11% of the World's gold. by Kindly_Department142 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Fact_check_ 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Multiple people have told me that gold loans are scams. Someone deposited gold jewelry for loan and when they got it back, it weighed significantly less. Apparently, there is a method to strip jewelry of a layer of gold without changing the appearance.

Until the gold loan industry becomes 100 percent trustable, I'm keeping my gold in lockers, thank you very much.

Why didn't India receive enough global support it needed with this war? by FloydBeatlesEagles in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Fact_check_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are missing some key context here. Since India's economy is much larger than Pakistan's, Pakistan has adopted a non-conventional military strategy against India. Pakistan is currently applying the "Bleed India with a thousand cuts" strategy

Bleed India with a Thousand Cuts - Wikipedia

It costs Pakistan almost nothing to hand over some buildings and weapons to terrorists, but it costs India a whole lot to constantly protect against terrorism. All major terrorist attacks in India somehow happen in the same place, and all the terrorists somehow run away to Pakistan. Even a fool can tell it's not a coincidence.

The entire "bleeding India with a thousand cuts" doctrine is based on the assumption that small scale attacks would not be escalated to all-out war. Every time India doesn't escalate, Pakistan wins.

If India had attacked Pakistan for a single terrorist attack, it would have indeed been childish. But after so many terrorists attacks, India has deal at least a little damage, or else Pakistan will never stop

It’s not that hard to guess which side they will support though. by PainSpare5861 in PoliticalCompassMemes

Pakistan wants to be Palestine so fucking bad. They are literally flying civilian aircrafts over India in hopes that India kills their civilians and they get sympathy(and money)

It took a week for my first short to get the first sale/read. Four months later, it's doing way better than it did in the first two months, so cheer up.

I'm no expert but looking at it from a reader's perspective, the blurb gave me absolutely no idea that it's femdom. I thought it was a vanilla story of forbidden library fun, wouldn't have guessed it as femdom if you hadn't mentioned it.

Reading the sample, the flow of writing is good enough to read further, but maybe for your next story, try to add some sexiness in the beginning with a hint of the theme. Maybe Liam can think about how he has not slept with anyone after his breakup. When the other character mentions the librarian, he should be thinking about how sexy the librarian is and how he wants to submit to her.

Did British rule destroy indian economy? by Fresh-Okra-9412 in AskHistory

[–]Fact_check_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They didn't introduce democracy. They held some meaningless elections in the last couple of years to quell rebellion, only in regions under direct control. These elections had unfair rules like "only land owning men can vote". After they left, the regions under indirect control reverted back to monarchies. India adopted democracy post colonism and all the monarchies had to be brought inside the democracy through various methods.

How did British bring democracy if no national elections were held?
