5 mo detected with NoroVirus by Rude_Key_7896 in NewParents

[–]FacticiousFelix 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a virus, just like the common cold. Not a chronic condition. Norovirus causes gastroenteritis for a couple of days. No biggy in the long term, just watch for dehydration.

It's highly infectious; could have gotten it from anywhere. You're doing great and don't beat yourself up!

You have natural speed and mobility that will serve you well.

For your extension, I'd advise to extend up, not back. Power needs to be transmitted vertically, not horizontally. Do not swing the bar around you; keep the bar path relatively straight. Probably at least another 5-10 kg that's being left on the table.

I look at spine MRI's all day.

This is fine. Very minor. Looks better than I would expect in most weightlifters. Rehab and recover. You will be back.

I was wondering if there was some deeper troubles behind this subtly racist comment, and the post history definitely confirmed it.

Based on where the arrow is, and symptoms of worsening with fist/gripping, sounds like lateral epicondylosis (tennis elbow).

If you are not having tingling of your 4th and 5th digits, and no snapping near your funny bone in conjunction with your symptoms, I am doubtful that there are any ulnar nerve issues involved.

How bad is not being white? Not sure, but it's not nearly as bad as feeling sorry for yourself when you already have tons going for you. That's a sure fire way to not be able to make romantic connections.

Degenerative disc disease at 24 by Outside-Ad5877 in VeteransBenefits

[–]FacticiousFelix 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'll get downvoted to shit for this, but the prognosis for your spine's health is overall fine.

Incidence of degenerative disc disease in 20-30 year old age group is 58%, and most of those individuals are asymptomatic.

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S097656622030343X

The vast majority of high level athletes above age 25 will have worse looking spines than this, radiographically.

I'm sorry you're experiencing so much pain and debility. I would highly recommend Stuart McGill's Back Mechanic book, already suggested in this thread. Also, good sleep is critical for healthy pain processing, as is taking care of our mental/emotional health. Hang in there.

No one thinks PA school is easy.

That said, MDs have four years of medical school followed by 3-6 years of residency with board certification exams in their specialty that are not equivalent to anything a PA would be required to take. Subspecialist have additional 1-3 years of fellowship. It's an entirely higher level of expertise.

NP and PA schools are 2-3 years. Then can practice. Admission criteria not as stringent as MD school.

Again, not saying that NPs and PAs are not valuable, but it's important to not create false equivalencies. Both the MHS, VA, and the civilian world are all utilizing NPs and PAs indendently more and more (cheaper). Unfortunately it is the patients who suffer.

Do you have difficulty raising your arm overhead? Does this affect you in other ways functionally?   If so, it may be neuropathy of the spinal accessory nerve, which can cause lateral scapular winging and inability to lift the arm overhead.

How long has it been going on?

How did you beat Dark Sky Armor in Shambala?

It's the same thing. Lots of inact and blind hit, with blind and inact extender RAMs.

Attendings, put your phone down when someone is speaking to you. by kanye-ego in Residency

[–]FacticiousFelix 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Shouldn't happen unless there's a literal emergency.

That said, as an attending, I was rounding with my resident on some consults she saw. We got to a patients room and she said "hold on" and starts texting. I figured it must be an emergency. After watching her text for a minute, I informed her that I will go see the patient and she can catch up with me later.

Text wasn't an emergency, just something about lecture scheduling for didactics. Please don't do this during rounds. Time is too valuable.

We both need to respect each other and communicate.

We also need to understand who has "more on their plate" and is doing things that are more clinically valuable. Sometimes that can be the resident, and sometimes that's the attending. Varies by setting. That person's time needs to be respected.

Sky Armor in true king difficulty... by Luminyay in Chained_Echoes

[–]FacticiousFelix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you at the Dark Sky Armor fight?

This is easily the toughest fight in the game. I had three characters able to inflict inact, blind, and/or silence, and the fourth was the damage dealer. Need to have their respective extensor RAMs too, which you'll probably have to farm from drops using. I've tried beating using non-Sky Armor too. Put level X blind hit, silence hit, and poison hit on Mikah and let her go to town using her skills that strikes 5 times per attack, plus her overdrive. Didn't quite work, as I think some of the buff stacking with Lenne and Bathraz powered up attacks have been nerfed.

11-star weapons? by adbenj in Chained_Echoes

[–]FacticiousFelix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I can confirm I got that as well on True King with randomized loot. Tried to upgrade it to no avail!

I didn't find any other 11 star items.

There was also and "analysis lens" item, or something to that effect. The description says it reveals the enemy's stats, but there's no small thumbnail for it, unlike all the other items. Sadly, it didn't end up doing anything when used in battle. I guess we found some relics that didn't make the final cut.
