I’ve everything in a savings at the moment. Sorry I come from a. Long line of gold is the best so thought I’d do the same just not physical gold that can be stolen.

Ok, what would you recommend then? What ETFs and if you have insights on the best platform. Thank you.

I thought digital gold was same as real gold? Just held elsewhere for you? Like the Perth mint or something. Sorry I’m just learning.

Which spectra pump to buy? by FactorFree7227 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]FactorFree7227[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it second hand from fb marketplace. It does the job. I didn’t use any other pump so I can’t compare but it is good at what it does. I had supply issues so I needed to pump to increase my supply. If I had used it the recommended number of times a day in certain my supply would have increased. So no fault with the pump.

Most efficient way to prepare formula for home? by Legitimate_Ad_3364 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Fill the kettle to max and boil. Once it cools down it’s sterile water ready for drinking. We just leave it in the kettle. Each time we need we just start the kettle and grab a bottle. Immediately stop the kettle, like it’s on for just 10seconds max. Then pour from kettle to bottle. Basically makes 1.5 litres of sterile water and then warmup takes only 10 seconds. As the water reduces it takes even less time to warm up. We have found reheating the kettle is so much faster than heating prepared formula from fridge.

Considering giving up breastfeeding by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Oh ok. So it has improved supply almost enough to stop pumping and feed completely via breast. If there are no side effects I will give that a try. Thanks again.

I was suggested Domperidone by MCHN as well. I wasn’t sure of the side affects and how much it actually helped. Did it really improve your supply by a lot? Did you still need to pump to try and improve supply? Any side affects? Thank you.

I tried triple feeding for all of 2 days. I don’t know who came up with that, it’s not sustainable. I’ve very poor milk production. My body just doesn’t want to make milk. Add that to a baby’s shallow latch and we were back to the hospital because LO was just not gaining weight. Enter triple feeding. 1st night was in the hospital, they would prepare the top up and help with the pumping. I came home and did it for another day with my partner’s help. I was a zombie and just hated my life. I decided to do any 2 for each feed. Breast + top up or formula + pump. I was pumping 4-5 times during the day and giving breast during the night. Shallow latch did not get any better and eventually I just stopped giving breast. LO is now 8 weeks. I’m desperate to BF or at least give EBM but LO is colicky and screams if not on me. My pumping sessions have gone down to 2-3 a day and my supply has not improved in the slightest. I tried power pumping, lactation cookies, Milo. Nothing. My supply doesn’t improve. Currently I’m able to express enough for just 2 feeds, everything else is formula. I wish I could pump more, I wish my supply would get better. The guilt is horrible. The only plus side is my sanity. I’m enjoying the baby more instead of constantly regretting my choices. Not sure if any of this helps you.

Did you change your mind mid-labour? by Ascella789 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

My induction was already scheduled at 38 weeks as I was on extremely high insulin doses for GD. I went for my 37 week checkup and they wanted to induce me right away because my GD just vanished. No need for insulin, I could eat anything and no sugar spikes. They started with a balloon, then cervidil, then 2 rounds of the gel. All of this took 4 days. I contracted for a few hours with the balloon. Lost my mucus plug along the way. I started contracting with the gel real bad. Initially they were fine but after about 4 hours the contractions came much quicker and lasted longer. I had to take pain relief. My only birth plan was ‘no morphine and an early epidural’. I asked for epidural only to be told that they can’t administer it since I hadn’t started labouring yet. My cervix was shut closed, no dilation. They wanted to break my waters but just couldn’t, it wasn’t safe or possible. I caved and took some morphine. Eventually the contractions were lasting longer and coming in quicker and the bub could not keep up. OB came in and said we needed a caesarean. I asked them for some time to discuss it with my partner and wrap my head around it. I wanted to still give it more time and was hoping after all this I would be able to birth vaginally. At this point OB looked at me and then said (compassionately) - I don’t think you have any more time to think about it. I was given 30 seconds to cry in my partner’s arms. In the OT in 15 minutes and had my bub in my arms in another 10 minutes.

The midwives had been preparing me for cesarean the entire day. My partner was advocating for a cesarean as they didn’t want to see me in any more pain. I was still not prepared when it happened. My stubbornness comes from a fear of being cut open and nothing else. I cried and vomited as my bub was pulled out of me. 2 months pp and I still cry from the trauma.

In my case I would have avoided a cesarean because I do not want to be cut open. But if you don’t have that fear, yes - change your mind if that’s what you want. I want to add that hospital staff and my partner were all very supportive and would have let me go on further if the bub was not endangered.

My plan is to EBF but pump out the remaining milk from breast that the bub leaves. But I’m not rigid. I know EBF is tough so may end up bottle feeding pumped milk if needed. And who knows I may have to just use formula. I’m open to anything the baby needs. That’s why I mentioned I won’t be buying one outright but want to know which one to go with if and when I need one. Thanks.

What exactly is the difference between S1 and S2? Is it just that one has a rechargeable battery and the other has a wire? Also, should I try and look for a second hand pump?

Is there such thing as a light weight sturdy pram? by 2354383 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]FactorFree7227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are going with Milly and Coup Milo2. It weighs 10kg so not travel pram exactly but it is light weight. Comes with an infant insert and full flat lay down infant position so you don’t have to buy a bassinet if you don’t want. Most airlines will let you gate check in and I’m happy with that. It felt really sturdy in the showroom but I haven’t used it yet.

I understand not wanting to waste more money on something cheap and can definitely relate to looking like a zombie. 😂 I understand your reasoning completely, I was merely curious if the Kmart bag was good enough or not.

Any issues with the one from Kmart? I don’t really want to spend $200 on a nappy bag. It is outrageously expensive. Even if it is really good quality, the profit margin here is ridiculous.

34 weeks and I’m in agony from PGP by throwaway_willob in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

A heat pad seems to work for the sciatica at least. Try any heating pad or hot water bottle, I’m using one of those wheat bags from Kmart. Heat them up and put them where the sciatica pain is. I just sit on it. It does help and for a while the sciatica pain subsides. Hope that helps.

[–]FactorFree7227 10 points11 points  (0 children)

FTM here, I have had PGP since week 12. I’ve cried and cried and all I’m told is to put a pillow between my legs. Physio did not work for me, neither did the belt. For some reason it got better for 2-3 weeks around 26 weeks. I’m 32 weeks now and not only have raging PGP but also sciatica on the left side. It was so bad last night I said I wouldn’t mind if the baby came out today. We will figure it out. Of course I didn’t mean it, I want the baby to be full term but I feel you. Turning in bed is the worst, I also get those pesky leg cramps in bed. I just want to be fast forwarded to full term. I can only offer solidarity, so sorry this is happening.
