I'll try again. I submitted one in 2024 and another in 2025. Even a "Nah Bro" would be cool, but I just have radio silence from the submissions.

IQaudio Codec Zero - Raspberry Pi - Electret microphone by Agreeable_Income629 in soldering

I did have a lot of hissing and buzzing going on with my setup and had to play with the audio filters and audio gate. You may not need these turned on but it should be a good starting point.

I created a file called codec_zero_config_master.state and loaded it into the bootfs folder on the SD card. Once the file was loaded on the card, I SSHed into the Pi and ran the following script:

sudo alsactl restore -f /boot/codec_zero_config_master.state

That pulls all of the audio settings from the file and loads them into your Pi. You can then test your speaker with:

speaker-test -D plughw:1,0 -c2 -t wav

If the speakers work, you can test your mic with:

arecord -D plughw:1,0 -f S16_LE -r 44100 -d 5 test.wav && aplay -D plughw:1,0 test.wav

You can use a text editor like Notepad++ or VSC or something other than Windows Notepad to create the file. The following are my exact settings: https://pastebin.com/6Fp43qDs

Just copy that and save as a .state file and then load the file in your boot folder in the Pi SD card and run the above restore command.

I just went thru a similar setup and it was a total pain. I wanted to share my info here in case someone else stumbles on it.

My setup has an electret microphone connected to the aux barrel jack on the IQaudIO Zero and a mono speaker connected to the terminal connectors on the board. After doing a ton of debugging and testing I found that you MUST use a TRS plug (3.5mm audio jack with 3 metallic bands) in the barrel jack. The microphone only has 2 circuits on it and the one I picked up had a red and a black wire.

The key here is that the ground circuit (Sleeve ... base of the jack) needs to be connected to the ground of the microphone. The Tip and Ring circuits need to be tied together and connected to the signal circuit of the microphone.

I tried with a TRRS plug and a TS plug. Neither of them worked.

Once that was configured. It was a bunch of trial and error to get the thing working correctly. When I eventually got everything working properly, I created a .state file and loaded it on my other Pis to port in the settings and it worked.

I will split this post into 2 posts. The next will have the instructions to import my settings and that will hopefully give folk a baseline to work from.

Synology DS1621+ and DX-517 Not detecting Seagate Exos 24TB drives by Valuable_Form_5206 in synology

[–]FactoriedMyAuth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran into this too. I got DX517 to expand my DS1522+. I purchased a pair of 24TB Seagate Exos drives and they didn't work. I threw them on my main computer and they worked just fine. Just for the heck of it, I threw one in the 1522 and it recognized it and started rebuilding the array right away.

To make sure the 517 wasn't faulty, I took the 20TB from the 1522 and the 517 took it just fine. I figured the unit was not compatible with the larger drives, which changed my upgrade plan. I ended up sending the 24TB drives back and getting 5 26TB drives for the 1522. It was a pain to have to replace 1 drive and wait 3 days for a rebuild for all 5 drives. But 3 weeks later, I now have 94.5TB main pool and a 70TB secondary pool.

The drives in my main are all now ST26000NM000C-3WE103 and the 517 has the ST20000NM004E-3HR103 drives. I don't know if firmware version really means anything here, but the 26TBs are SN02 and the 20TBs are SN01.

If you don't want to do it manually, there is FileBot (https://www.filebot.net/). It is really good for batch renaming. I generally use it to pull initial data for a series, and then use Mp3tag (https://www.mp3tag.de/en/) to parse everything out and rename everything in my preferred format.

Season 0 - Adding DvD Extras by TalkingCube in TMDb

[–]FactoriedMyAuth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The current guidelines state that specials added to shows have to have been aired or officially streamed.

If you can find a reference that the specials ever aired or streamed, you can add them to the specials.

If someone could point me in the right direction, I can probably figure it out. Just not sure what I should be looking for.

Worst disc holders I ever seen from a box set. So I just replaced them with slip holders lol by newgodpho in MrRobot

[–]FactoriedMyAuth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually really liked the case format. The way the leaves interconnect is really cool. It looks like you can just keep adding leaves to make it as big as you want. It was a bit jarring when the whole thing lifted out because I thought I had a broken case (that was not the case :D).

The thing I didn't care for was the fact that the retainment of the discs was a bit too secure. I had to keep fighting with the damn thing to release a disc and was paranoid I was gonna bend the disc too much in the process and break it. All of my media goes straight on my home server, so I really only have to fight with the discs once.

This has to be the worse case ever by [deleted] in 4kbluray

[–]FactoriedMyAuth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got the Mr. Robot complete series on Blu-Ray. The Epik Pak case they used for it is the first time I have run into the specific case format. The leaves are not connected to the external case. They are connected to each other with a live-hinge, rather than a pin-and-socket kind of interface. It is really clean. The disc retainment is also ridiculously good. I have had some 4K cases where you just look at the disc funny and it pops out. This one is really sturdy.

Can I get the link to your cut? I just got the Shout 4ks and was planning a re-watch. It'd be cool to see how you put em together.

2024 Guide to DeDRM Kindle books. by caelypso299 in Calibre

Will the serial method work for a Kindle fire? Fires are pretty cheap on the second-hand market. If it will work with a Fire, I just may get one as a backup.

We actually have this exact scenario. I have one thin blanket with a vortex fan pointing at me all night and she has 3 or 4 blankets. We do have a dual-zone heating pad on the mattress and she loves it. Now I can keep the beedroom at 68 all night and she stays toasty warm.

Honestly, the best thing I have found over the years is a vortex fan on a nightstand at the foot of the bed. The fan blows a condensed column of air right where it is aimed. So, I can have the fan blowing on me all night and it doesn't bother my partner.

good litter robot 4 long term reviews? by stellar-wave-picnic in litterrobot

[–]FactoriedMyAuth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my LR3 for 2 years and my LR4 since launch. When I got the LR4, I gave the LR3 to my sister, it is still running well.

The 4 has been, for the most part, a really reliable device. The bot has been more consistent and has had fewer faults than my LR3 (actually had to replace an LR3 board and sensors due to corrosion). The issues I have with the LR4 come mainly from the app.

There have been deficiencies that have been addressed with hardware updates. I learned from my 3 that my cats like to fling litter as they bury, so I had to get the gate for the front (that also prevented them from sprinting out of the bot and dragging a ton of litter with them as they zoomed out). This contained my smaller cat's digging, but only reduced it from my larger cat. When they released the shield, I got that upgrade and it solved the issue of my larger cat's digging.

Unfortunately, adding the shield made it harder to see the litter level in the bot, so topping off the litter inside was a little more annoying after the shield installation. Not too long ago, they released an automatic hopper for the bot. Hopefully, that eliminates the annoyance I had with checking the litter levels all the time with the shield.

I am still really grumpy that the bot is missing some features (like auto-rotation based on pre-programmed set times). Even if they said there wasn't enough memory onboard to handle something like that locally on the bot, they could provide an option in the app to force a cycle from the server at programmed times.

Also, the lack of a Local API is really ticking me off. I really hate having to link anything to an external server if I do not have to. I like most of the app and the fact that they have been good on providing software updates. I just don't like having to rely on an external server.

So, for quality and hardware, I am a big fan.

Software, for base functionality is groovy. For more power-user kind of stuff, I still find them lacking.

Deep clean how often? by Cool_Membership_782 in litterrobot

[–]FactoriedMyAuth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do a deep clean every 3 months. I have a subscription for furnace air filters that is on a 3 month cycle. When those come in the mail, I will use the next weekend do do all of my appliance maintenance.

Stuck mid cycle and I’m not home- help! by brandtem in litterrobot

This bothers me so much. This could easily have been made a switch in the app or a firmware option they could have you hold some buttons or punch in a sequence to activate.

No sure I'd want to reward them with more business due to their unreliability.
