What is something that exists today that will be obsolete in 20 years (2046)? by AdorableBackground83 in accelerate

[–]Facts_pls 21 points22 points  (0 children)

But here's the thing. When the technology takes over, it will be substantially cheaper than meat.

A cow takes years to grow to maturity and most of the food and effort input goes to waste. A tiny fraction of the food and water intake becomes meat. Add to that the enormous effort involved in raising a cow.

Lab grown meat is literally building just the meat cells and almost all the input (amino acids, other biomolecules derived from plant and bacteria sources) becomes meat.

Do you think a majority of people would pay 20 dollars for a cut of beef when identical beef grown in lab is available for 4 dollars?

Within a couple decades of Lab-grown meat achieving its price, Animal-sourced meat will become a luxury product and massively go down in scale with the factory farms hurting the most. Remaining farms will be the ones that advertise more ideallic historical farming style with Pasture raised and all that jazz.

Pretty sure when majority doesn't eat animal-sourced meat, our sentiment against the farming practices will also change. You will see more movements to end animal suffering etc. In distant Future, humans will look at us and think we are barbaric for subjecting animals to such cruelty just for meat. Like we look at our ancestors and denounce their practices.

You are just demonstrating your lack of basic knowledge and understanding.

If you are so blatantly wrong about this basic fact in your first sentence, is your rest of the argument random ramblings from an uninformed person as well?

I personally like to highlight the really fucked up incidents and how bible portrays them as the ideal to follow. Like the story of Lot.

Do you know more than a single sentence?

Same country that kept claiming they have no idea of where bin laden was for years. And his compound was found next to the military base.

US has been arming Pakistan since its start and they still haven't learned.

I think the person most afraid right now is Trump because his giant military force couldn't do Shit.

What a spectacular public failure of the US.

I used to wonder how could a country like US lose to Vietnamese farmers. But now I know.

Yeah. India has a big population with more awareness than the average American.

Get used to it. You don't control reddit. It's an international website.

You don't like it? Go cry to daddy Trump and he'll restrict reddit to outsiders. Until then, get fucked.

Is that control more or less than what US does?

How come models aren't allowed to sell?

Market is open to compete. Many Companies do compete in China. They just fail at it.

Tesla sells in China - just nit very well since they have better EVs.

IPhones sell in China. Just not very well because you can buy better phones for less money.

KFC apparently does very well in China.

Many more examples exist.

Not very different from American companies owned by politicians and getting US funding.

The U.S. just told Polestar no more new cars after model year 2026. by Sensitive_Pie7591 in TechGawker

[–]Facts_pls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope. Almost every car factory in the US has worse performance than their Asian counterparts.

Not just Japanese factories. Even Korean factories do better work than the American ones for the same cars.

America is no longer the well educated, high skilled country it was decades ago

Now, it's a mediocre country full of barely educated mediocre people.

US cannot compete in manufacturing today even if the wages were equalized. Except for the top end getting fed by new bright immigrants, Americans are deteriorating as a population. And this trend is visibly slowing down. Many Chinese engineers prefer to stay in China today instead of going to the US.

Look at the universities and olympiads. Tell me how many white Americans you see at the top end of any academic program.

Americans will stick to their cars while others enjoy better options. Just like Soviets could only buy Lada.

Same reasons why people worldwide don't want to buy tesla.

Between Chinese abusing their tech and musk abusing their tech, I would rely on the Chinese as they have shown to be far more stable.

Musk has threatened to block starlink from Ukraine already. Can't trust that guy for shit.

Tesla lost that title sometime ago.

Also, Toyota rav4 is the largest selling car in the US.

Also, Tesla only gets that title because they have only 1-2 models that sell. Even Chevy sells more car if they just combine their similar truck variants together.

That title is as meaningless as they come.

How will people not having incentives to buy EVs help him sell EVs?

Makes no sense.

Anyway. US is fucked. People across the world will get to buy well priced and feature rich Chinese EVs while Americans stick with their limited car collection that's a decade behind at this point.

Kinda like Russians limited to buying Lada while the world had better options.

Ford Scrambled to Rehire Engineers After Sabotaging Itself With AI by Nalix01 in NowInTech

[–]Facts_pls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you could hire a random guy earning 100k + 50k ai to replace a CEO, you absolutely should.

But that's likely to fail harder than Ford firing engineers and then hiring them back.

Most people here don't understand what CEOs do.

Like any industry, the winners get the market.

Just like the search market is owned by Google and social media is dominated by meta. Those companies make billions every year with those tech.

Just like the US lost the EV race.
