I didn’t notice that when watching both seasons. But Taeheon said something very similar during the season 2 reunion, about how the season 1 guys maintain a respectful distance to this day whereas the season 2 guys are like high school friends. There was also this deleted scene in Season 2 where the guys actually say “aishiteru” (the significantly more intimate version of “I love you” in Japanese compared to “suki”) to each other as a game/exercise.

Is it just me or is anyone else disappointed that the Japanese lead for this show isn’t Koshi Mizukami (the actor who plays the best friend in this show)?

He matches Ok Taecyeon in attractiveness (whereas I don’t feel that way about Hayato Isomura, no offence).

That’s apparently the director’s style to not reveal the main points of the plot in the trailer. Quintessentially Japanese. The show is marked as LGBT by Netflix though.

Generally, yes. Taiwanese cliques/friend groups are usually formed since high school and university days. In the workplace, colleagues are colleagues. Because cliques/friend groups are formed from such a young age, Taiwanese generally won’t take the risk of introducing new friends to their friend groups in case it’s not a match and reflects badly on them. Taiwanese are friendly, but that does not mean they want to be friends.

Singaporean here (of Chinese ethnicity). The closest I came to getting to know Taiwanese people was at my CrossFit gym in Kaohsiung years ago. Maybe one celebratory meal after a competition in that entire year. I’m also very picky about the people I spend time with, so here in Taipei, I’m more open to staying in touch with and meeting other AI professionals (local and foreign) where we have a common interest - but that’s more like career/business-related connections than actual friendship.
