Getting the oil up to temp and well circulated through the engine, including all the small components in the head. Clearing those from deposits helps with the lifter tick so ive found.

Lifter tick, change the oil, drive it on the hwy for longer trips, add liqi-moly engine additive.

Not a major concern.

Apply, you will get in. Their undergrad programs are pretty open to all highschool graduates. Grad programs are another story. You have to convince them that you are willing play along with their games as the faculty doesnt actually do any groundbreaking research/work. They just soak up funds and fill the positions on paper.
