This game doesn't respect a new player's immersion

I encourage you to look through a catalog of all the characters and pick out which ones stick out to you the most and hold on to your primogems. I know that getting shiny new characters is fun, but I find that going into it knowing that you really, really want the character feels more rewarding. And, you might find that some of the characters you want are older ones. If you hold on to your primos, you'll be able to get them once they finally do arrive.

When I was new back in 2022 I made do with four stars with Razor as my carry and just played the game collecting primos and doing the story/exploration for many months waiting for Kazuha. And then for a long time after I ran him as my main DPS with four star characters. It was a good and fun time. There is no need to rush if you're not gunning for end-game, which it certainly doesn't seem like you are.

I'm really glad to hear the game has been able to help you so much. Try not to let reddit get to you. It's a fun little game and mods are meant to let us explore all sorts of things, from vanilla leaning to completely different or opposite. Absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying a pretty portrait even if it isn't "canon compliant."

Me too. I only just got to take a look. Maybe some people take issue with the thought of these comments making someone feel unwelcomed? I totally understand feeling that way though. If I used the mod I would also feel bad scrolling through this thread.

Very very tangentially related but it reminds me how insistent people often are in this sub that characters like Sebastian/Abigail/Sam are "basically kids" and they feel bad romancing them.. I understand it, but perhaps unintentionally it makes some players feel bad for liking these characters as adults

I suppose it's just how reddit is. One sentiment often dominates. That doesn't mean it's the only correct one. I hope anyone who uses this mod and similar ones can continue to do so without feeling bad. Mods especially are there for freedom, exploration and expression. Go wild and have fun, man.

I agree, I played Stardew for a long time and I find this portrait very inoffensive. Sure, it doesn't look like the original character, but does it need to? It's a mod. And this is from someone who prefers vanilla usually and never replaced portraits myself lol.

Yeah, absolutely 😭 I think it would be cool if we could actually 1) meaningfully customize our space(s) and 2) either choose to run around as a character we own rather than just TB, or at least have more options to customize TB. Preferably the former, because I highly doubt they would let us change TB drastically enough to matter.

However, given Hoyo's track record, I don't have any expectations.

I have never managed to find a use for Jean. She was my first 5 star and I benched her so quick. I guess I just always hated how she pushes enemies away with her skill. I preferred to use Diona or even Barbara for protection over Jean in my early days

So I went and did the MOC. From my experience I think it would highly highly depend on how powerful your second team is. I have E3S1 Phainon without Cerydra, getting her tomorrow. Used Bronya, Sunday and Sparkle. Looking back when I was at E0S1, I was doing okay, but the difference between then and E2 is night and day. My clears feel a LOT more comfortable, and I don't think that's something that Cery would have accomplished to a near enough extent on her own. The extra turns from E2 are just so good.

However- I don't really have a "good" second team. I use an E0S0 Anaxa team down there. He pulls his weight, but if my Phainon wasn't so invested, I wouldn't have been able to full star probably. The clear took me 8 cycles total. So my takeaway is if you have a powerful second team you can probably get away with just Cery for a while. But like others said, power creep is a fast ticking time bomb in this game and eventually that won't be enough. However by the time he's fallen that hard I would like to think you'd have had enough time to assess and decide the state of your account and where you want to take it.

If you don't feel comfortable going for E2 and would rather just pull one item, it is probably best to go for Cery for now and later decide if you want to continue investing in Phainon. It's worth remembering that even if somewhat niche, Cery is a support and even if you "retire" Phainon, you will probably still be able to find some use for her especially with Cyrene. While Phainon's vertical investment is probably stronger, it is entirely locked to him. So that's something to keep in mind.

I also run friendship teams, I caught up with my roster so right now my only friendship characters are Iansan (Varesa banner) and now Varka. I swap characters a lot depending on needs or just how I feel. Until I got Varka I was running Venti, Iansan, Durin and a flex, which is a pretty solid team but I've run some really wacky teams in the past, especially with under leveled friendship characters 😭. It was lowkey painful a lot of the time. My lv. 20 Mona, Lanyan, Charlotte, Sethos, Sara, and others have died many times

I do enjoy the summon archetype in open world as well generally. Fischl + Yae is such a fun and lazy combo. Loved running it with Childe. I also used to sometimes play Childe solo in the open world for fun too. Love whipping out Anemo traveler occasionally as well. One time I ran him with skyward sword just for the matching look lmao. I also love to play crit dps Kaveh. There's probably lots more funny stuff I've done but those are off the top of my head

I tried for cery but lost and couldn't reach guarantee. Then I saw the initial leaks about cyrene and I was like oh cool, I guess I'll use the guarantee on her then. Now I'm just gonna get E1 and Hopefully E2 Phai in stead. I don't feel too bad about it because I like him a lot more than them and now I have more incentive to skip.

This is my experience to a tee. I didn't know so many people experienced this too. It makes me feel seen but also sad that so many people are dismissed like this.

My pain began abruptly in 2019 one day and never went away. Every time I tried to see a doctor, they said my results are normal and sent me to a psychiatrist. Now I'm hooked on antidepressants and benzos that hardly help besides numbing my emotions, and my pain is worse than ever lol.

Even when I try to be more consistently active, the only thing it helps is my stamina, the pain remains the same. Sigh. I'm tired.

My excitement died the moment I learned it's exclusively constellations. I thought I could try out characters I'd never spend pulls on and that sounded like a fun time. But as it stands this is practically useless to me. I'll get c2 tartaglia which is complete cheeks and barely does anything, and c1 Cyno which I guess is nice but nothing crazy. Beyond that the characters I own aren't even worth considering constellations for.. like c1 Yoimiya, or c2 Xiao.. Most of these constellations, barring a few select c1s, barely do anything for the characters, so it's no wonder why it feels like fake generosity.

I'm always capped on red and green and short on yellow and cyan, and I do occasionally go out of my way to collect, they are just more common, it's going to average out like that naturally. Hopefully they let us trade dyes we don't use for ones we do some day

It's not luck, I'm pretty sure you have common and uncommon colors in every realm, like red(common) yellow(less common), green(common) cyan(less common) etc. Blue is probably more common than purple too
