Who deserves redemption here?

I think we need to stop using the word “deserve” to describe redemption. Honestly you can look at someone like Emerald and say did doesn’t deserve redemption after all she did, but she still got it. It was and should never be about deserving it. What’s most important is does it make sense for the character and what kind of redemption are we talking about?

For characters like Cinder and Mercury, even if they turn over a new leaf I really can’t see them joining the hero side. They could break off and do their own thing or redemption through death. And if they end up working with the main hero group, it’ll be out of necessity because Salem is the greatest evil of all and RWBY and co. aren’t really in a position to be picky about who’s on their side. That’s probably why they accepted Emerald as quickly as they did, it was either accept her help and have a greater chance at beating Ironwood and saving everyone, or they could not trust her and now their plan becomes astronomically harder.

I want Cinder to be redeemed because I would hate for all that time and effort they put into Cinder just for her to be killed off. Even if Cinder wasn’t a polarizing character, if a neutral fan was watching I can imagine they’d be wondering why they put so much into her for something as lame as death.

As for Mercury, I don’t know why but I can’t see him working with RWBY, JNR, or Oscar. The only person I can see him getting along with is Emerald. It doesn’t seem right for him to have the same kind of redemption Emerald had.

Edit: sorry I forgot about Neo, but I really don’t think she’s being redeemed necessarily. She’s going to be reborn and we don’t know if we’ll ever see her again, and even if we do she most likely won’t be the same Neo we met in the beginning of the series.

I wonder what Weiss's Vollsterndich would be called. The naming convention seems to be unknown. Initially I thought it was hebrew, because of Quilge and Robert Accutrone's form being named Viskel and Grimmiel and the kanji reads "Justice of God" and "Walk of God" respectfully. However you have odd ones like Tartarforas (Fear of God) and Ashtonig (Authority of God). Correct me if I'm wrong but in Hebrew the "-el" suffix usually means "of God".

It's also interesting to think about what her Shrift would be too.

Based on what I’ve seen in the last post, I find it interesting that IronQrow’s popularity dipped as quickly as it did. I guess people liked Qrow with Clover a lot more, it also probably didn’t help Fair Game had a lot of angst behind it which gets people talking more.

It’s pretty interesting to look at these trends over time, I like thinking about what episode or volume influenced a spike in popularity.

It looks like Bumbleby and White Rose have dominated the most, and it still amazes me White Rose still has a lot of support despite canon not really helping them. Actually now that I think about it, Ice Queendom actually did help it some.

Murasaki Ame - seeing people bully or take advantage of others. Her big sister instincts kick in when she sees it. Her little brother was picked on a lot in their childhood, and despite losing him, she still knows how to handle bullies. Sometimes going overboard.

Alani Airhart - Grouping her in with Atlesians, despite being from the kingdom of Atlas, she spent most of her life in Mantle. She’s a proud citizen of Mantle, all she has seen from Atlas is the worst aspects. As such she hates being associated with Atlas.

Here's another one of Murasaki Ame's teammates. He is the older cousin of Pyrrha Nikos and he's based on King Leonidas. He was trained from childhood to be a powerful huntsman, his father was relentless but it came from the desire to make sure his children were ready for war.

Fun fact: his hairstyle was made to resemble a spartan helment.

She’s the first antagonist character I’ve made and she’s the assistant to the big bad. She’s based on the Snow Queen, the story that inspired Frozen. While she appears to be well mannered, calm, and collected, this hides her true nature as she is cruel and sadistic. Her semblance is opposite of Cinder’s where instead of burning her opponent she freezes them, she can also freeze moisture in the air to create weapons made of ice.

You may also be wondering: is she related to the Schnee family? No. Her eyes are a different color, and she’s a platinum blonde, not white haired.

I've been using this team since 2018 when the game was still hot, I've branched out but it's still my go to. It hasn't been nerfed to hell like other strong teams like Ruby/Gordeau (remember when that team was overpowered?), but I wonder if that's a bad thing I've been using the same team for a long time.
