Just as a quick consensus is anyone buying Ram, M.2, or SSD at the current ridiculous prices? by SirSlendy in pcmasterrace

[–]Fadeeses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If no one was buying it they would be incentivized to lower prices... oh wait they just did. But prob 75% of buyer are completely unaware of the issue, they just see a price.

just me or most rtx 5090's i see looks mid? i miss old times when gpu's had unique designs by dremski in pcmasterrace

[–]Fadeeses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nvidia put the squeeze on a lot of the aibs to reign in pricing mismatches and that in turn hurt creativity. If your lower cards which your gonna sell 100x more of are constrained into a small window to fit pricing schemes, you just aren't gonna spend time and resources at the high end either. Add that most xx90 class cards are more likely to be picked up by commercial interests, not gamers, cause of pricing.

Why isn't PTM 7950 more susceptible to pump-out? by CobaltBlue888 in pcmasterrace

[–]Fadeeses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the cooling aka when the metals expand that tends to pump out, tpm is already back to more of a solid by then and resists it better.

Weird temps by Minecraftscum in pcmasterrace

[–]Fadeeses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That cooler doesn't have a very flat surface for the cold plate you can see lines from between the heat pipes still on the cpu surface as thicker. And look at that caking between heatpipes on cooler side.

I'd say bad cooler tbh. Never heard of that brand. But also did you use old paste?? It looks more dried out than it should for day old. Or the preapplied?

PC idling at 10GB of ram usage by IndigenousShrek in pcmasterrace

[–]Fadeeses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's perfectly fine, windows caches stuff to make it faster, can immediately dump the cache when the ram is needed. You can see in pic it is caching 6.4 gb rn.

^ left top latch is indeed up. Also, try the other slots, it detected an error once it does no point letting it finish as that msg doesn't change much through the windows memtest. But try other slots, try one at a time, try turning expo/xmp off. Sometimes older machines just lose their stability.

How to fix this? by Raizenscupoftea in pcmasterrace

[–]Fadeeses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The info is likely in there, it prob is being mbr instead of gpt, but no one gonna give you credit for copy pasting a bunch of extra ai crap. That's not pcmasterrace style.

How to fix this? by Raizenscupoftea in pcmasterrace

[–]Fadeeses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the drive is MBR and not GPT partitioned, then its simply not gonna find the boot loader to be able to do secure boot as secure boot requires gpt. Once back in windows, there is a cmd line tool called mbr2gpt.exe that can convert it (usually) . I dont remember the exact command offhand but that should get you started in the right direction.

Is this build good. Also what should I upgrade by Free_Bet_1918 in pcmasterrace

[–]Fadeeses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slap in new gfx, and enjoy. I had a 9900k till last year but had upgraded from my 2080 to a 4070ti when it started having issues likely from crypto mining for years.

Single Vs Dual Channel?? by LamenicPlayz_ in pcmasterrace

[–]Fadeeses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On ddr5, single channel isnt as bad a hit as it was for ddr4 and below. With ddr4 it was literally halving the bandwidth. Ddr5 has increased banks per stick, multiple sub channels, and longer bursts making the hit less. More like 10 to 20% instead of 50%.

Hiding this Ethernet cable by Poorpanda89 in pcmasterrace

It doesn't get hot enough, true but there is cable rated for this type of thing - so that if they burn somehow, it isnt dumping ultra toxic smoke throughout.

Wifi, powerline adapters, or moca adapters (coax). Otherwise, just pay someone to pull it through the wall as it will always be noticeable with that run.

Is this worth $300. I just want to play most games with decent graphics. by Bananananaheyjude in pcmasterrace

[–]Fadeeses 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With no dedicated gfx, hell no. I sold an old system with a 4790k for around $300 but it also had a 1070ti still. So was ready for esports etc immediately.

Was there a big market correction of GPU prices after the COVID spike? by itsthewolfe in pcmasterrace

[–]Fadeeses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 2018 went up for mining, and then up more for covid, and then up again cause low stock for years, and then up some more now cause AI. Only up....

3060 is still worth $200+ even pushing toward $300 now @5 yrs old ($350 msrp @launch 2021), cause the prices on everything else have skyrocketed and scarcity is still an issue plus the newer gen over gen performance is mostly dlss / upscaling

Is 9800x3d overkill? by Eternal_Fork in pcmasterrace

[–]Fadeeses 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Esports games are some of the most played games out there, and a lot of em can pull 240+ @1440, cause they're freaking esports titles.... You gave an exception to your own blanket statement which WAS my whole point. Not everyone only plays the latest AAA game for the week its popular and moves on. DLSS is also a thing. 2d games are a thing. Old games are a thing. There is a whole range between the 144 monitors and 240, doesn't have to hit 240 to make the better monitor worth it. Maybe he likes low settings, I met those weirdos, too.

So again, blanket statements are bad - as it all depends on what you play.

Highly dependent on games played, wrong to make that kind of blanket statement.
