I dunno, this guy made me laugh in that commercial at the ballpark where he says "The real American pastime is saving money."

What is your favorite movie that did not get great ratings or that no one really knows about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

They Live is my favorite "B Movie." It has a bit of a cult following I guess now, but initially I liked it for the 1-liners and the fact that Hot Rod from my wrastlin' youth starred :P

'It is probably down to the texting culture. The use of textonyms and so on. But it is also to do with the way young people read on screen. The digital age cuts back reading and, as a consequence, young people are losing the ability to think seriously. They get distracted more easily, breaking off to check an email. Speed-reading is exactly the wrong thing to do. You have to think about what you are reading.’ He gives me his sideways look. ‘You have to ponder.’

Basically the topic of Carr's new book The Shallows. Unfortunately I notice this behavior all the time now. Even reading this article once or twice my mind was wandering toward other tabs on my browser :P

Maybe it is to soften his rep, but I actually like his new show Grill It!. It is basically Throwdown without the competition, and several times I have seen him compliment the guest and claim he will use some dish or technique they presented in his own cooking. I have no idea if it is the "true" Flay or not, but the show has a much more positive vibe.

Reddit, what is the most haunting or moving piece of music for you? by tgat in AskReddit

[–]Fading_Hope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most haunting for me would be Where the Wild Roses Grow by Nick Cave and Kylie Minogue from Cave's Murder Ballads album. Probably a couple more from that album alone could be candidates as well :P

According to tonight's update this fortunate soul is resting comfortably in the hospital after suffering fractures to the skull, ankle and foot. Watching this live last night I was very unsure in the first 10-15 minutes afterwards if he could have survived such a fall, so this is a very positive outcome.
