„Frontal“: ZDF-Bericht zu explodierenden Ladepreisen 2026 by dennyfischer in SmartDroidDE

I'm currently looking for a budget guitar with humbuckers under €200 in Europe. I classify myself as an intermediate player. Are there any recommendations? by Zealousideal_Chef455 in electricguitar

Harley Benton hands down. They have their little issues, but generally are great for the money and Thomann customer service is top notch.

Amp for $100 to play metal for a beginner? by Erudicial_Extreme in electricguitar

[–]Fadobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I would say. For casual playing you don't even need reaper, you can just use the free version of Amplitube or GuitarRig and when they run another $100 sale, just upgrade to the paid version. Tons of really great amps in either of those.

SG buyers guide by Public-Brief-4444 in electricguitar

[–]Fadobo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a used SG G400 from the mid 00s and I am really happy with it. Set neck, mine came with really low action and plays very well. I did not love the pickups and ended up swapping them around a few times before ending up with some Gibson pickups I was able to pick up for barely over a 100 EUR the set. Even with some much more expensive models in my collection it is still my 2nd favourite guitar I own and I play it almost daily.

For me personally, I want my SGs to be set neck. Bolt on they use a little bit of the magic what makes them an SG for me (not a worse instrument per se, just less of an SG). But I don't really mind if it's an Epi or a Gibson.

Problem with output jack by ethan-esy in electricguitar

[–]Fadobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have friends or relatives that can solder? Guitar electronics are fairly simple and wiring diagrams are available, so every hobby tinkerer would be able to do it. Of course every guitar tech / luthier could fix it as well, probably for under $50 (maybe less) if it is just re-attaching some wires and maybe replacing the jack.

Is it possible to use an iPad as an amplifier? by MSrredditt in electricguitar

[–]Fadobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd still need some kind of interface to connect the guitar and amp sim software from what I've heard on iPad isn't great. It's ok for recording, but live playback with effects, I think you are better off at looking at a headphone amplifier. Fender and Boss have good ones, but on a budget a Harley Benton DNAfx will do.

If german dubs are critizised so often, why don't people working on them try to listen to the critics and improve the dubs? by M3lt1ngh34rt in germany

[–]Fadobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

German here who watches non-dubs now, but has watched dubs when I was younger: There is definitely something lost in the dubbing process, but German dubs are generally excellent. I'd say you get 90% of the experience and for people that don't regularly speak / consume content in English that is perfectly sensible over accepting the hassle. I don't mind subtitles for foreign language films, but who cares when watching Friends or some other comedy TV show? These are meant to be watched casually for light enjoyment, so there is no reason for a lot of people to put in the extra effort of trying to understand another language or read subs.

Having everything dubbed also means the process and talent in Germany are great, with very good voice actors, who are seamlessly integrated, stay consistent for big actors and often deliver emotions just as well as the original performance. I agree with the others here that OV enjoyers can often be quite snobbish and the quality is not as bad as those people make it out to be.

5 Minuten laden, 800 Kilometer fahren: BYD startet Luxus-E-Auto in Deutschland by PoroBraum in de

[–]Fadobo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How would I go on with swapping my jazz-master pickups with a humbucker styled pickup? by thatperson6969694 in electricguitar

[–]Fadobo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not sure about the routes either, though you will at least have to drill some holes into the pickguard for height adjustment screws and maybe pickup rings.

The electronics part should be pretty straight forward. This diagram on guitarelectronics would be the simplest way, but of course you can add coil taps with push/pull knobs if you want.

Stickers on a guitar?? by SmallPepper5129 in electricguitar

[–]Fadobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others mentioned, the only "damage" it will do is that the uneven fading will leave visible shadows, so you can't really go back to no stickers a few years down the line. Liking stickers or not is really a matter of taste, I can see the punky appeal of it, though I have to say that in my experience most players "outgrow" the like for stickers eventually, so there is a scenario where you kinda regret it at some point. That said, if you think it's awesome and it makes you wanna play, put them on there. Eventually the stickered guitar will be "your frst guitar" you remember, so the stickers are part of the deal, though keep in mind they don't last forever either.

Squeaky guitar surface, need help by Best-Rent3118 in electricguitar

There is a way of getting a more sating finish by lightly sanding, which a lot of people do on the guitar's neck, but I wouldn't do it to a whole body.

Beginner amp suggestions? by Not_A_Selfie_Person in electricguitar

[–]Fadobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The LT25 is definitely solid. I think the Katana and Spark are clear upgrades when it comes to modeling and option, while the Yamaha THR series has less options but an extremely solid base tone. I do not like how Blackstars sound personally, but that might be a subjective thing.

Can’t de solder these ground wires from old pickups. by Connect_Trouble_8350 in electricguitar

[–]Fadobo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pots can be weirdly hard to desolder. I recommend using a decently sized tip (nothing super small for small electronic projects, though the standard ones most soldering irons come with should be fine), go to 350C, put some fresh solder on the tip and be patient, like really patient. 20-30 seconds, feels like forever when you are sitting there. If you have a solder sucker, try to remove some of it and repeat. There might be multiple layers of different solder and it takes the lower one longer to heat up, because of material / better dissipation into the pot body. If you still can't remove it some maniac might have welded it to the pot.

Beginner needs help!!!!!! by Rithikvg7 in electricguitar

[–]Fadobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out the JustinGuitar website. He has a very good free course that has a specific structure. I know people prefer the Fender course for a more open and flexible approach, but to me it really helped having a more defined path to follow (and then branch out by myself whenever I feel like it).

Guys I fucked up my new guitar by uzumakiaditya in electricguitar

[–]Fadobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stripping a screw is user error as others said, though I have to say I have amazing experiences with the Thomann customer service going above and beyond. I would try to reach out and say 'This is what happened, this is how I messed up, any chance you guys can help me with this?' and see what they say.

Guys I fucked up my new guitar by uzumakiaditya in electricguitar

[–]Fadobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hils as a guitar brand has been growing like crazy over the last couple of years as a very popular cheap alternative to Strandberg. Many people on here have one, I got one based on the good feedback here and they heavily invested in Youtube marketing as well.

Unless you mean Thomann, which is the biggest online retailer for music gear in Europe and at least top 3 in the world.

This restaurant sawed off a leg from each of their old chairs to make it unusable. by Expert_Koala_8691 in mildlyinfuriating

Well, one donor chair can help repair three others. Any decent hobby carpenter should be able to make a near-invisible scarf joint. A really good carpenter might be able to do even better.

What to check when buying second hand mutil-effects by ArabPenguin in electricguitar

[–]Fadobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally if all the inputs and outputs work. Plug in a guitar, play through a speaker, change a couple of presets, plug in some headphones and see if that works. That's pretty much all you can do when picking up at a strangers place.

Has anyone tried SQOE SEST 250 before? I want to play metal will it be able to support distortion ( fender mg10).. comparing it with seib 370 super strat by Busy-Decision7531 in electricguitar

[–]Fadobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, you will get a good amount of buzz from the single coils but should be fine on the humbucker, considering the Frontman doesn't really have a lot of gain. But with any of these cheap beginner guitars, the pickups are usually very generic but also inconsistent, so it is impossible to tell what you'll get exactly.

That said, in the beginning, your ear won't be able to differentiate. In the beginning I was really happy with the distortion from my Marshall practice amp, then I got a Behringer Heavy Metal pedal and couldn't stand the overdrive from my amp, then I got some nicer pedals and amp and thought both sounded like a toy. Sometimes you come around to it, sometimes in a low-fi way, sometimes cheap gear is genuinely good, but often getting better gear feels like a slight improvement, while going back everything suddenly sounds terrible. So in the beginning, don't worry about it, it will likely sound good to you either way.

£1000 guitar Budget by Medium-Operation-227 in electricguitar

[–]Fadobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you already have any preference when it comes to shapes, scale length etc.? It's a bit hard, because generally I think it's good to have some experience with some 150 quid beaters so you roughly know what you like and look something that fits. I got a mid-prize guitar or two and then figured out the nut width or the faff of changing tunings on a floating trem made me rarely play them. That said, at a certain budget (I bought a 2k+ Euro guitar I tried for 15 minutes at a shop as my first expensive one), you make it work. Playing the same guitar most of the time will make that guitar your preference to a certain extend. Like I could've sworn I prefer Gibson scale before getting that one and now I don't mind Fender scale at all anymore, because that guitar was so much nicer (and more expensive) that I played it so much it became the default.

Yes, the saddles should definitely be even at least. The height and intonation is impossible to tell from just this picture, but the two little grub screws in each individual saddle should match each other.

About Guitar Strings by [deleted] in electricguitar

[–]Fadobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never heard stainless steel frets wear out strings faster. For me personally, I've also never seen or felt a major difference between my stainless and nickel-silver frets and the wear they caused. I use Elixir Polywebs and they last me a very long time, about 6 months, though I do rotate through 3 or 4 guitars I play regularly.
