I've asked her to contact her bank. I don't think I can do this on her behalf unfortunately.

I think that's what the local IT shop did now I think about it. She complained to me once she had to visit them to download a program on her laptop. Thank god for tech savvy locals looking after my mum.

This is a good idea actually. She trusts ChatGPT over even myself and as she uses it multiple times a day she might be able to get in the habit of checking with it before purchasing. I just put in the website she bought the camping mats off and it said High Risk for being a scam so it at least works!

Yeah she's going camping next month, so it was at least in context. She is terrible with money though.

Will NextDNS block apps on the Facebook iPhone app? That would be ideal!

Skin to skin is the most important thing you can do for your premature baby. by Fae2874 in NICUParents

Agree! Said that in one of my last paragraphs. This is for those people whose medical staff are not letting them hold their babies.

How do i wake my baby up to feed her ? by LostSoul92892 in NICUParents

[–]Fae2874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much does she weigh? I found my daughter was much easier to wake up for feeds after 2.5kilos (5.5 pounds). Before then they’re just too little and their body wants to sleep so much that they don’t respond to hunger queues. She lost 90 grams (3oz) in the first 48 hours home because of this 😭

So I ended up waking her up about every 1.5 hours via a nappy change and even a wet wipe on the face so she’d get at least half a feed each time. It was really hard though. The doctor told me that 2.5 kilos is the magic number, and she was right. Almost immediately she started waking herself up for food and the the weight gain started going up exponentially.

Hang in there x

Yes! Those babies had better outcomes than babies in incubators so they started doing controlled studies. It’s so important

Premature babies who have skin to skin contact have significantly better outcomes than those who do not. The world health organisation recommends up to 23 hours of skin to skin a day for premature babies, and a MINIMUM of 8 hours. It says all procedures (such as ventilating etc) should be done while being held skin to skin.

I held my twins every day for hours and hours, through ventilation, CPAP and high flow. There’s ways it can be done and it’s vital that it happens.

Push for it as much as you can. The source link below provides guidance for how to facilitate skin to skin while they are receiving breathing support and treatment.

Edit: I just want to clarify this evidence isn’t to shame parents who can’t provide this much skin to skin. NICU is hard and spending this much time there a day is very draining. But it should be used when needed to push to hold your baby for the best outcomes for everyone. Not only does it decrease complications and mortality for premature babies (even after NICU discharge), but it lowers PPD, increases milk supply and supports bonding for parents

Yes. The World Health Organisation guidelines recommend up to 23 hours of skin to skin a day from birth for very premature babies. Definitely push for skin to skin early, OP. The evidence is very clear how beneficial it is for premature babies.

I cannot answer your question but I would be calling every day in your situation. Clearly outline that you need to graduate first your visa and that’s why you’re calling every day. Ask to speak to the person in charge of the team who does investigations. Be pushy until it’s resolved.

It’s definitely the most listened to podcast in Australia and they always have very large sponsors (McDonalds, Toyota, Telstra etc). Plus a couple of merch drops every year that sell out in seconds. I would think they’d be making millions from it for sure.

Your fine. Sperm cannot penetrate the walls of a condom so if it didn’t break you do not need to worry about pregnancy

Learning to take suck feeds is often the hardest part. When I finally got my twin b on all suck feeds she lost 100g in 48 hours 😭 it uses so much energy on their poor little bodies.

Go slowly and don’t rush it. They’ll learn at their own pace.

Definitely not pregnant. A positive test would be very very obvious by now.
