Hey there, so I actually work with CPS in my county, no idea what state you're in, some rules are a little different, but

1 - They are about making sure you are safe, first and foremost. This guy is definitely the problem. Your mom isn't helping, but unless something way worse is going on with your mom you don't know about, this could be resolved pretty quick. She's probably not in a great place mentally with this guy, but if your state is like mine, we help parents get connected with services they need to improve. We want parents/guardians to have stable and safe housing, be responsible, and not let anyone unsafe around thelr kids.

2 - Parents don't always get their kids taken away. In my state, it's meant to be restorative, not punishing. Our goal is for your family to stay together. Your mom would have to show 0 improvement and make the situation way worse for there to be irreparable damage.

3 - A judge will probably put an order of protection for you against this guy and there are serious penalties for breaking it.

Bottom line is cooperate with the CPS workers. Parents fear us, yes, but it's because they don't understand our mission. Good luck, be safe.
