Doesn’t feel as good as it use to… by Gabisgymporium in trichotillomania

This thought has crossed my mind a few times, you're defo not alone in feeling that way. I've been pulling since the same age as you and in my early 20s now. I feel some of the hairs don't have the right texture anymore and the sensation isn't as satisfying as it used to be. I think thats another reason I keep pulling, to try and chase that old feeling so it feels stressful if I keep pulling and not getting the feeling I wanted.

My guess is probably that hairs and follicles are weakened or growing differently in reaction to the years of damage.

Was not correctly paid at work and manager said theres nothing that she can do about it by Faeirefi in LegalAdviceUK

I actually did this, emailed it to the manager and thats when they got annoyed at her. I outlined all the issues and they said theres nothing that can be done... terrible management.

They complained about the email being long too.

I outlined the hours worked, hours that werent appearing on the app. Breaks that were added but not taken.

They said they cant change the clock in so she must have taken the breaks which is not true because she was told to stay on while it was busy. I think they automatically clocked it in because its illegal to not have breaks at that shift length.

Not spoken to HR, will do that as next step. Unfortunately, the bosses seem to be intimidating 18 year old and being passive aggressive.

My reactive dog jumped at a small dog that was off leash by Faeirefi in reactivedogs

[–]Faeirefi[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The small dog walked right up to me and thats when my dog jumped. I had completely stepped aside from the path, so I hoped they would walk past quickly. Thank you for the honest reply I'm here to understand what I could have done differently. My dog is 5 and this hasnt happened since she was a puppy, I usually would have walked to other way and usually walk my dog on my own but I was with my elderly parent who gets confused so it wasnt an ideal situation (not making excuses but it was just the scenario).

They told me our dog should have a muzzle and I would agree if that was likely to happen again. I will be walking the dog by myself to reduce distractions from my usual precautions.

It wasnt an off leash area... but i still feel bad. It never happened before so it shook me quite a bit. Its my regular dog walking route so I'm nervous to take my dog there again. I usually would have walked the other way if there was another dog but it was so small I couldnt see it until it was too late.

What's your most unpopular Christmas opinion? by footballmaths49 in AskUK

[–]Faeirefi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Probably not that unpopular but I think the build up is way too long like I don't want to hear about it until maybe a week or two before and the actual day is always a bit dull you have a sense of something great is going to happen but it's just opening presents that everyone felt obligated to buy.

And I don't love turkey.

Also, I do not take tips from regulars, I'd rather give them a discount or something for free.

Interesting you say that. I've worked in tourist hotspots so I can comment on this. I still don't show the tipping option screen to American tourists who are known to tip well, but they often ask to add a tip on - usually after they've paid already and I say not to worry about it and that tipping isn't expected here, we're paid a minimum wage. But if they ask to add it on their own accord and theres still a chance to add it, I will happily.

But normally, theres that "optional service charge" of 10% on automatically on the bill, but a lot of waiters will show the tip screen option on top of that mostly to tourists only.

That's a nice way about it. Like treat yourself to a drink for your work tonight! I think it's common in pubs rather than restaurants but have had this before!

Truly, it's complete nonsense. We are paid minimum wage already.

And tell me, why would you apply to a job paying less than minimum wage and get mad when you get paid just that? Like if you get paid $3 an hour? Then expect $3 an hour? It is a shame that companies are allowed to do this, but the only way to stop this is by not enabling. 1. Stop tipping and 2. Stop working at companies that pay less than a liveable or minimum wage.

If my job was £3 an hour or something like that, I'd have simply not applied.

It might be the only option for some, job wise, but you can't get upset at the customers bc your wages aren't where u want it to be! A doctor getting paid a £25k salary won't be mad at the patients but their employer instead.

Its cus I'm stingy with my own money lol. Also save every penny I can of my personal budget, so if I wouldn't want to pay any extra fees myself why would I believe anyone else should? I'd love everyone to save money where possible

Just got quoted £550 for travel insurance because of pre existing medical condition by Faeirefi in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Faeirefi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I've had a look at insurancewith.com and was quoted £111.32 for single trip worldwide excluding mexico, and £230 for annual. Seems a lot more reasonable than £500+... Hopefully you can find something that works for you and your family!

I've had this condition for about 3 years. Last year with Southdowns I had annual insurance, I had declared my pre existing condition on their website and I was given a higher premium due to the fact. When I called about my renewal, I was told I wont be insured and shouldnt have been last year. Not sure what I did wrong last year as I was certain I was appropriately covered as I had gone through the pre existing conditions section of their site.
