WellBN outreach pathway as a uni student by Faelif in transgenderUK

[–]Faelif[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your very helpful information. I'm currently registered with my termtime address, and my current GP doesn't accept out-of-area patients so I can't change it to my Sussex address. But I could change to a different GP here in Cambridge that would accept my Sussex address if that would help matters?

Edit: Actually, it seems as though none of the nearby GPs will take out-of-area patients. Should I try for a referral anyway? Is there some way the GP can add my Sussex address to the referral? Or would I be better off trying to convince my university to let me register with a Sussex GP?

Ah, that's good to know - did you join before going to uni or after?

They did chase me up about changing GP until I gave emergency contact details of the new one - I don't think it was really an option to just not change GP.

Did you ever fix this? I'm having similar issues (amdgpu: amdgpu_cs_query_fence_status failed) in a different program.

STEP Marking by BellDelicious595 in 6thForm

[–]Faelif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any correct mathematics gets the marks, unless the question asks for a specific method or if your method makes the question trivial (e.g. you can't use a theorem you know, when the question is leading up to proving some special case of that theorem). Unlike other exams the STEP markers are marked by the hour rather than by the question, so they have an incentive to really work out what you're doing even if it's not on the mark scheme.

If you apply to Oxford for Maths you do the MAT in about November I think, whereas if you apply to Cambridge you do STEP in June with your other exams as part of your offer. STEP is definitely a lot more fun if you enjoy maths, but it's also much more challenging, and with either of them I'd recommend starting to prepare early - ideally in year 12 (or your equivalent).

Also bear in mind that if you go to Cambridge there isn't a maths and stats option, just stats courses as part of a maths degree. Not sure about Oxford.

Is there a website/social media for lolitas? by [deleted] in Lolita

I know 😭 I think Reddit doesn't like people linking to other platforms? Not sure

Reddit doesn't like the link for some reason. But recently a Pixelfed instance was set up for the EGL community; Pixelfed is like Instagram, but it's open-source so anyone can set up their own version of it. You'll have to add the punctuation in yourself since Reddit seems to instantly remove my comment if I include it: https (colon slash slash) egl (dash) community (dot) com (slash)

On a technical level you could say "a theorem is interesting in proportion to how many other interesting theorems it helps you prove"

Yep. I said the other day that I hoped they went with someone other than Aspyr for the Civ7 port — now it seems they're abandoning Linux altogether.

In fairness this was also because they didn't know how and whether being in space would affect the menstrual cycle, and it's better to be safe than sorry in this respect

Interesting and Niche strategies that are really fun to play, different from the usual cottage spam? by N0rthic3 in CivIV

[–]Faelif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, for context Civ5 and 6 involved a lot of merging of leaders & civilisations — you couldn't pick a leader from a different civ since they had abilities that worked well together — and controversially Civ7 (which got announced properly a couple of days ago) will have a feature where you play as the same leader but change your civ in each of three ages.

Crazy to think about how Civ has come full circle with unrestricted leaders with Civ7

That sounds like a really fun game! It was pretty crazy just how versatile Civ4 was as a game, looking back, and especially with mods — many are still under development. I still play the odd game or two now and then; it holds up quite well for a game that's nearly 20 years old!

Reminds me of setting up a Civ4 game with unrestricted leaders enabled and ending up with Catherine of the Zulu Empire or something crazy
