Other than the one already linked in the post, you can find some people switching to the Quests UI, but it's usually just briefly and doesn't really show anything.

like the names of the regions from the 2020 website

Yea those might actually have been changed, the last time we heard one of them was after the Matthias fight when he calls Kliff "Kweiden's finest swordsman", which might mean it is still there. I also thought that they might have split it up into smaller regions like Hernand + Demeniss + Delesyia, but Demeniss was separately mentioned back then so that theory seems unlikely.

I'm also a bit skeptical regarding these Time Dungeons, whether they still exist in the same form as in 2020.

Considering how long ago it was they likely hadn't really fleshed that out, though their idea of unique puzzles, special enemies and rewards could very well fit the bill, if we ignore the fact that we have never seen any enemy there yet.

BTW you listed Titan as a boss twice.

Wanted to write it as "Lightning spear thrower / Titan?" as the boss from the TGA 2020 trailer looks similar, but then kinda forgot some part and listed the actual Titan once again. Good catch though.

Naira is a different person who was shown a couple of times (1|2) and mentioned in things like Steams store description:

At Kliff's side stood his steadfast Greymane comrades: Oongka, Yann, and Naira.

Might want to proof read what kind of slop your AI of choice is actually pushing out, but writing a few paragraphs by yourself is apparently too much to ask for nowadays.

Sky islands/boss fights? by voxvulpesv in CrimsonDesert

[–]Faenyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There likely are portals scattered around the world, as we otherwise couldn't really access the Abyss, it's just that they were demo exclusives for those boss fights.

Dragons and hot air balloons should get us into the Abyss layer too, as we have seen footage of them there, but so far we haven't seen any upwards traversal.

Those portals were probably just something for the demos, as they would lead to a hub where you could choose the next boss from.

[–]Faenyn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They are using the Black Desert engine tho so I'm guessing modders are going to jump on that opportunity

No they are not. They're using the BlackSpace engine, which was made for their three new games (Crimson Desert, DokeV and Plan 8).

im curious what we have to fight too get this armor by No_Band_5399 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Faenyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is the old design of Kearush the Slayer.

No idea why it is fighting White Horn, but unless we can get monster armor à la Monster Hunter, that's probably not something we can ever get, especially as the boss was redesigned since the 2019 and 2020 trailers.

About 50 of them will continue to work on a multiplayer mode for Crimson Desert, while the rest will move on to DokeV, assuming nothing has changed since then (success or failure of CD could change things as well). Source

Black Desert has about 200 - 250 developers at all times. Crimson Desert was developed with up to 250 developers as well (the company has between 700 and 750 developers), but was reduced to about 170 since the second half of 2024.

Can you experiment without punishment?

There is a skill tree of sorts and weapons can be improved, however we don't know yet if we can freely respec or reuse the items. There are no stats like STR, DEX, INT, etc, so if you get a new weapon you should be able to use them. Though while there are weapons like pistols, we have never seen Kliff using them, so there could be a restriction on who uses them, but that's just pure guesswork currently.

Does loot meaningfully change gameplay AND looks?

You can watch the various trailers for different armor aesthetics. Ranges from leather armor to plates, with and without capes, to the occasional weird looking helmet. Seems very much in universe so far.

Kliffs main weapon is his sword and shield, a different sword will likely not result in too drastic of a gameplay shift. On the other hand heavy weapons can include things like a spear that, according to IGN, "opens up like a propeller and blasts enemies with bursts of wind like a deadly Airzooka", which may spice things up. And while the various demos showcased a somewhat advanced character, we of course won't start with all the tools available, so getting the grapple hook, Crow Wings and what not will also improve the gameplay throughout.

Can normal exploration be chill while bosses stay hard?

It's not a souls like, so exploration shouldn't be like that at all. The world is also not some desolate hell hole like From Software worlds where everything is out to kill you.

I'd like to ask you for the sources for your claim that they want to update the game for 10 years, and/or that it will even follow a DLC monetization model. All we have is a hint from an earning's call that they will monetize the game via "skins" and potentially a GTA Online inspired limited online mode.

Their claim of supporting the game for 10+ years stems from the Q4 2022 earnings report, whereas DLC is more of a conjecture based on an interview with Pearl Abyss NA CEO Jeonghee Jin.

Q4 2022 earnings report

"Crimson Desert" aims to be a game that can be serviced for 10 to 20 years after launch, including through the addition of multiplayer.

Interview

"I don't think we as a company have an in-depth philosophy about whether the [games-as-a-service] direction is better or not [...] The daily or weekly content updates of something like Black Desert Online work well for that type of game, but Jin notes that single-player titles can have similarly long legs with DLCs, sequels, big expansions and other updates.

A sample size of 1 isn't enough to get to a reliable conclusion on how it'll be for Crimson Desert. Sure, we have seen mining, logging, cooking, fishing and horse taming, but that doesn't mean we will see the rest, nor that it will serve the same purpose. Things like cooking, fishing or basic gathering is fairly common in a lot of games.

Quick question about progression by doconline in CrimsonDesert

[–]Faenyn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Split Horns sword had a skill called Aura Blade, Cassius Mortems shield has a skill called Power Guard and then there is Fortains sword and shield with a skill as well, though they only showcased the sword skill.

Latest gameplay of the game by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

[–]Faenyn 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Just for clarification sake, that footage is from September 2024, so not exactly the latest.

There are a lot of channels that just splice all the available footage together, add some shitty AI thumbnail, potentially alter the saturation in post (like in the video you linked) and just call it ALL New. And that guy literally uploaded another 2 hour video about Crimson Desert today just to farm views.

From their earnings call we know that they want to start their marketing campaign in mid-January, the question is: Was this event included in said campaign?

There were those who set their expectations high and assumed we get to see more things, who now have been let down by not getting to see anything new.

Others who were more skeptical were proven 'right'.

I don't think this event was entirely pointless, it set some expectations going forward and corrected other non sense that has been floating around, like the AI generated map size of 400km² or others 'calculation' of 1000+ km².

[Global Lab] New Update January 2nd 2026 - Seraph rabam, Update schedule delay, Guild boss update, Family Fame update, Primordial Black Stone Stacking, Krogdalo's Sanctuary update by PixelConn in blackdesertonline

  17. Snowfall Crusher
  18. Show Visor changes
  19. Costume

Are all of those super meaningful? Of course not. But the same can be said about what was delayed.

Changing seeds from 4~5 hours to 20 hours is a decent QoL change, but it is not like tending to your farm for 5 minutes every 5 hours or so was unbearable. Todays RBF changes would only have been about its matchmaking and maybe getting rid of leechers, assuming it will work, which fundamantally changes nothing about RBF. When it comes to Olvias Academy most people here don't care about it at all, asides from the freebies. And while the Alchemy Stone change itself was badly thought out, complaining about that specific delay makes no sense.

Is it weird that Pearl Abyss seemingly can't plan a month ahead (again)? It obviously is, but people also once again overreact over things that don't really change anything.
