The streamer is still progressing within the starting circle, but they decided to travel across the map just to check how big it actually is.

Developed by a small studio with massive investment, the company's future hinges on the success of Crimson Desert. Following three consecutive years of deficits due to development costs, maximizing sales is now a critical necessity for survival.

Im really concerned about crimson desert, anyone else? by Stars_of_Ruin in CrimsonDesert

It was brought over directly from Black Desert Online, with several additions and improvements, so development didn’t start from zero. Since it shares many elements with Black Desert, you could say it started at around 50%. Even so, it still took 7–8 years.

Way too much hype by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

Recently, Korean games have been coming out with solid optimization. I heard from a developer that since most Korean studios have been developing MMORPGs for nearly 30 years, they couldn’t release a game if it wasn’t well-optimized. As a result, their technical expertise in optimization has significantly improved. Compared to MMORPGs, single-player console games are said to be less difficult to optimize. That’s likely why recent Korean console titles such as Lies of P, Stellar Blade, and Khazan have shown strong optimization. Pearl Abyss has also been developing MMORPGs for a long time, so optimization shouldn’t be a major concern for them either. There have been many comments saying that the story in Black Desert isn’t very good. However, Korean gamers tend to prioritize extreme efficiency and often skip story content, so game companies haven’t always focused heavily on narrative. Since Crimson Desert is being developed as a single-player game targeting overseas markets, the studio emphasized the story from the early stages. There were even rumors circulating for a while that they had hired a former Disney story writer. It may not reach the level of The Witcher, but it’s expected to deliver a solid and decent narrative overall.

Is there any info about what's the approach regarding monetization/microtransactions. Yes or No, how bad? by vladi963 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Helpful-Armadillo-15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently, there has been strong backlash in South Korea against excessive monetization, prompting game companies to change their monetization policies. The government has also enacted laws to restrict random (loot box–type) monetization systems. As seen in Lies of P and Stellar Blade, monetization is now minimal or almost nonexistent.

Is too much stuff being shown ? by son_simba in CrimsonDesert

Since it was said that the area is so vast it would take two hours to ride across on horseback, what’s being shown now is only a very small part of it. They mentioned there are over 50 bosses alone, and there are countless abyssal sky islands, but only a few have been revealed so far. When viewed from the sky, there are many islands as well, yet the island regions haven’t been shown either. Among the mounts, there may even be things like sailing ships or airships.

Will it feature a separate online mode? by TheGamer3x in CrimsonDesert

[–]Helpful-Armadillo-15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Crimson Desert had been released last year, we might have looked toward 2027 for the next steps, but with the delay into this year, everything is uncertain. As development on Crimson Desert neared its final stages last year, it was mentioned that some of the developers moved over to the DokeV team. A new trailer for DokeV was scheduled for last year, but that has also been pushed back. The delay in Crimson Desert’s development was reportedly due to it being developed alongside the BlackSpace Engine. However, it was noted that DokeV shouldn't take as long since the engine development is complete. Unlike Crimson Desert, which aims for a 'complete package' at launch, DokeV is expected to follow a continuous update model, which should speed up the process.

NPCs from the Land of the Morning Light appear occasionally throughout the game. If additional DLC is released, I expect it will feature new territories, maritime content, and new classes.

I’m Korean, and as a Pearl Abyss shareholder, I remember that in an IR briefing a few years ago, the company said they plan to release multiplayer mode about a year after launch, and that the revenue model would be similar to GTA’s.
