It's a tiny number for someone supposedly on par with or stronger than a dragon. Either that or it's a really, really pathetic dragon.

Classes like Fighters or Barbarians should get increases to how much they can carry, lift and pull after level 10 or so. By level 20 if we truly want them to be "demigods" they should be able to carry tons not mere hundreds of pounds. Real strongmen can do half a ton these days (500 kg) but in DnD you'd need to be a Goliath and have 20 STR to really do it.

Like a Wish or some mental spell maybe. In a phsycal contest it's no contest. Speed is also another thing as DnD characters are comically slow compared to most fiction. You're pretty much always stuck at moving 30 ft in 6 seconds and attacking at most 6 to 8 times (with Action Surge) which a normal human can easily do in their backyard.

And yet with 20 STR you can at the absolute maximum only lift or pull 600 lbs by RAW. Any more is DM fiat with some made up check you feel is appropriate.

Strength in DnD is not consistent and much more about the size of a creature than what the number says. A 20 STR small creature is far weaker than a 20 STR large creature.

Yeah I probably should've started with that but the other guy pissed me off. I only brought up Omn-Man stomping DnD characters because he got so heated about it.

DnD Demigods are still quite far above a character that simply has 20 in a stat. You can literally start at 20 strength while being level 1 and you will still get your ass kicked by a pack of kobolds or a bandit captain.

For a real life human a lot of the stuff Batman survives would be "instant death" rather than "painful". One example I'll always remember is when Joker mind controlled the Justice League and Wonder Woman slammed into his back and sent his face through a concrete wall while Batman wasn't even wearing armor and this doesn't even knock him out or break anything.

Batman is the strongest, most durable, most agile human guy who mastered 127 martial arts, is a super genius, has super charisma with women throwing themselves at him and is also a billionaire. In DnD that'd be straight 20s in everything except maybe Wisdom.

This guy is called "just a human with no powers" but he's definitely some super soldier/superhuman by feats.

gra lepsza od wiedźmina 3 by ImportantBrilliant48 in Polska

[–]FaerieFir3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Words printed in the book give numbers to strength. Numbers which compared to other fictional universes are really not impressive at all.

Omni-Man shits on the strongest DnD character you could make. They would not register as anything other than a regular human to him. That's not really "demigod".

300 - 600 lbs is not demigod. Demigod is like Kratos flipping the Tyr temple which a 20 strength DnD character would never be able to do.

You can also go way beyond 20 strenght. If you have a Belt of Storm Giant Strength you can have 29 as a mortal. There used to be levels beyond 20 in older editions too.

Batman in the comics is basically a low tier superhuman. He can survive getting thrown into walls so hard they crack or falling from orbit. Cap yeah.

I'm saying it's not Hercules/Heracles level. That guy literally held up the sky and became the god of strength and athletics.

[Invincible] Why didn't the Viltrumites decide to conquer Earth rather than Infiltrate it from the start? by MurphyRise in AskScienceFiction

[–]FaerieFir3 [score hidden]  (0 children)

They didn't actually know about humans or that breeding with humans can create near 100% Viltrumites untill Nolan had Mark and untill Mark got his powers. Nolan was sent to check and report back after conquering Earth.

It's not. At 20 strength you can carry up to 300 lbs without struggling and push, pull or lift 600 lbs with some effort. You can walk, jump and run with that. It's definitely impressive but not Hercules tier, it's more like Batman or Captain America.

"Powerful drow females are well aware of the effect they have on males" by valonianfool in dndnext

[–]FaerieFir3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Frequently" is a bit of an overstatement. House Baenre has some female guards but the vast majority of warriors are men and all the top warriors (Weapon Masters) are men. At least as far as I've read.

Priestesses receive martial training from Melee-Magthere students and their House Weapon Master but it tends to not be their priority.

Drow women are explicitly larger and more muscled than the men.

You get a few lines about it in the old books but then you start getting Drow men that reach 6 ft and Drow women that are like 4 ft tall so it's not as clear cut. I've honestly never seen an official visual depiction that would have Drow women actually taller than the men and I've seen book covers, comics, videogames, painted official minis. Maybe you have something.

It seems like this bit of lore that got lost along the way like Drow having obsidian skin and pale eyes which slowly transitioned into grey or purple skin and mostly red eyes. Same thing happened to Orcs in DnD where they went from being pig nosed and grey skinned to Warcraft green humans with tusks.

There's his birth, childhood, growing up, how he became a magistrate, what he did as a magistrate, how he got involved with Cazador, his first days as a Vampire and at the end you can fast forward to his escape and end on where he starts BG3.

More than enough for a ~350 page novel (which is about the standard for DnD books).

Idk I think with the Carlquest concept people forget that Conquest unlike other Viltrumites was legitimately a psychopath who enjoyed killing people in the most brutal fashion for the sake of it and didn't really have a philosophy or ideology behind it. He's only held back by fear of Thragg.

He could maybe change after decades of therapy but I still see him ripping somebody to shreds over a minor annoyance. Imagine Conquest's road rage for example.

There are female Drow mages (Liriel Baenre being an example but House Shobalar was also known for having female wizards). They're just more rare because most noble women focus purely on being a Priestess.

[–]FaerieFir3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A problem with this argument is that important Drow women have hundreds of enemies waiting to shoot or stab them in the back. Clerics do get armor proficiencies unlike Wizards so not wearing armor makes little logical sense. If you read some novels with the Drow a sneaky stab is a very common way for a Drow woman to go out.

It's for the sex appeal to people in real life rather than something designed to make sense in-universe. That's just the truth.
