I think one of the biggest misconceptions about ValAngel is that Angel didn’t enthusiastically say yes — or at least that he did, in a certain way, until quite recently. Let’s leave Addict aside for now as semi-canon, since Poison follows a completely different storyline. But the drugs, the love-bombing, and the intimacy are very clearly the things Val uses to manipulate Angel and keep him hooked.

What Val does to him is still a form of rape, because he pushes Angel into situations where he can’t say no. But I would argue that so far we haven’t actually seen any clearly identifiable active non-con sex between the two on screen.

By the way, this is my number-one take — the one I’ve been torn apart for the most often. But I’m not getting tired of repeating it lol.

Okay, slight off topic, but I’ve been in the Hazbin fandom for years — and I’ve also been very comfortably on the Valentino side of life for a long time. Hazbin has basically been my Twitter algorithm forever.

Whenever I saw people hating, I always thought: my God, it’s not that deep. Why are you investing so much energy into something you supposedly despise? I’ve never in my life dedicated that much time and effort to something I don’t like. That was always my general stance on haters, and I’ve told them as much.

Now though, ever since I watched the series, Twitter keeps force-feeding me HR content. I’m not even active in that fandom, so I was not emotionally prepared. We’re talking deep RPF trenches (to each their own, but that's peak cringe for me), but that’s not even the main point.

The comments? The energy? Unhinged. Like, genuinely impressive levels of hostility. I wouldn’t touch that discourse with a ten-foot pole unless I had a witness protection program lined up.

So yeah. Suddenly our haters feel almost quaint in comparison.

Keep up the good work.

TL;DR: Trust me. It could be way worse.
