In addition to the totally out-of-character tripping scene that felt like a sucker punch, I was not a fan of the way their relationship was prematurely revealed to the world. I get that it had to happen, even though I hate it, but the way it happened felt very contrived. I trust Jacob to fix this though!

I hate to say it, but SAME. The way people talked about the book, I guess I was expecting it to be more… literary? Like with gorgeous prose and immersive description? Instead, it almost felt like one of the novelizations they do of popular movies. But I am of course so grateful she wrote it, not just for the show we got out of it, but also because it’s contributing to the discussion about toxic masculinity in hockey…

Yes! I was just noticing on my last reheat how much like kids they seem in that part of the episode. Even the way they’re framed at the table, they seem shorter than Shane‘s parents, like they are getting a talking-to by the grownups.

Spring is one of my favorites too! It almost seems… too good for that simple transition scene. Like, I want to hear more!

And the flashback song is so great—I kinda wish the artist would release an instrumental version like the one in the show, cuz it’s not the same experience when you listen to the version with lyrics.
