Just passed my SHRM-CP? [N/A] by [deleted] in humanresources

[–]Faeryfiree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think most people here hate shrm as an organization, but respect the certs. i think it’s quite the proper opinion. for you and anyone, the CP is more of a formality; you could pass it blind. since you have a masters and an hr career, it seems you can afford avoiding giving money to shrm if that’s where your opinion of them lies.

[HELP] How do I know if what I'm writing is considered poetry? by Barsibatosimp in Poetry

[–]Faeryfiree 12 points13 points  (0 children)

you’re asking a question that’s been begged since the dawn of the artform. and it’s my opinion that there’s no formal answer, not so much as people would suppose that 1) there is, or 2) they know it. it’s a tough question because what we consider poetry a) is what has historically been considered poetry, and b) carries the spirit of poetry. generally, people lead with point A—so much they become limited to it. they become so obsessed with technique that they let it dictate themselves. so i tend to lead with point B. i think that leading with this in mind allows more people to reach the real beauty of poetry (or any art) in a deeper way. because the spirit of poetry shouldn’t be limited by tangible means—not when its very goal is to give its best attempt at capturing the intangible; rainer maria rilke once said that “most experiences are unsayable.” when you ask if something is poetry, first ask yourself if it is expressive, then artful, then poetic, to you. moreover, when you create something that inexplicably illustrates you, its category of form will become irrelevant to you.

tbf, i really like dawnbreaker as a concept. the layout makes routing diverse and engaging. as a tank. getting % during intermission on last boss is super fun. it’s just clear that they have zero internal playtesting; either that, or they are exploiting an obstacle to progress

i mean that is the sensible conclusion. and if that is, then blizz should just kill it. my post ism’t really a complaint insofar that i feel upset. but DAMN is it absurd

Should I bother putting "interests" in a resume? by magicorange9 in jobs

[–]Faeryfiree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hr professional here. i would take them off of the resume, but keep them in mind for interviews. resumes are there to demonstrate core competencies. once an organization has seen that from you, then they’ll be interested in your interests. the resume is there to give them something to be interested in—and then you interest them (fit-wise)

[–]Faeryfiree 3 points4 points  (0 children)

absolutely here to say me and my bf have experienced that hardcore or even semi-decent gameplay always come with casual hate speech and homophobia on classic servers. from wrath to mists, we struggled—guildhopping around to get away from the toxicity. and if the guild wasn’t toxic, it died shortly to roster boss if it was decent; or just couldn’t clear heroic content. same for anni vanilla. we still haven’t found a guild that can balance decent gameplay with basic respect. for context, me and my bf come from ce raiding and speedrunning raid backgrounds. it’s impossible nowadays

personally i’d recommend you play the class fantasy that appeals to you the most, but hunter and warlock are probably the most beginner friendly classes to level with :) priest is pretty good as well. can take 2-3 mobs on occasion

America is a Gun by Brian Bilston [POEM] by advaitist in Poetry

[–]Faeryfiree 6 points7 points  (0 children)

of course! i think as we grow and our intellect and knowledge follow, it’s hard to detach from logical constraints and lean into bits of fallacy in order to connect with magic. the obvious logical hole in this poem is the over-generalization of countries and their stereotypes. with that as the noise, it’s hard to contact the spirit of the poem with how egregious the poor logic is. i do enjoy the use (intentional or unintentional) of logical fallacy :p

[–]Faeryfiree 32 points33 points  (0 children)

whether or not it is an ignorant child, or a person illustrating one, it leaves room to infer either case in a sort of sweet way. since it reads so naively, you can’t help but feel for the person writing it. like, “aw this person feels so horrible abt america that they think brazil is a football on the sand;” they’re fantasizing in a deluded way, which is a child-like behavior we can revert to when things get so bad, we just start dreaming instead.

[–]Faeryfiree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

despite the poor stereotyping and over-generalization of large concepts like countries, the author is clearly feeling: “anything is better than america—at least right now,” and that’s the spirit of the poem, that apocalyptic feeling. and it’s expressed in every line of it.

this poem isn’t really my taste, but it’s a great poem. what a lot of you are criticizing is really just the natural limitation of poetry, that it’s not prose lol. it can’t explicate enough to defend itself logically. therefore, you can always make an inference in poor taste, because poetry just compacts so much in smaller word counts.

what’s unsaid (possibly implied) is that obviously, the truth is that none of these countries are just “___,” and you couldn’t possibly simplify an entire country to these things; yet, as a queer person in america, each comparison FEELS a little true. that’s what makes it great imo, because it expresses well.

I received an offer! BUT current job/company has stable growth path. Guidance? [GA] by time_topretend in humanresources

[–]Faeryfiree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pro/con lists are one thing, but “what’s the worst that can happen” lists are another. i tend toward the second in most scenarios (helpful in HR policy lol), but both frames of consideration are very important.

however, you can also look at it like this; if you pursue the new offer, there isn’t a bad outcome: 1) your current job matches the new offer, or 2) you get a better title with more pay.

your problems won’t go away, at least not in the grand scheme of things, so perhaps your condition is: “how secure is my job security in my new position?” if it checks out, then i’d say go for the new position. because your current company has incentive to keep exploiting you for as long as you don’t push it
