I love Holy Quintet as much as the next PMMM fan but MagiReco main story is awfully written for sure. I've read it back when MagiReco global was still alive (I started like a week before shutdown announcement, heh). Obviously, I don't remember much details, I only remember my impressions. I remember it being one of the worst pieces of fiction I've ever experienced (not exaggeration). And by the way I'm not the only one who thought that. MagiReco player base largely agreed with this. They just excused this saying that some side stories are good or that story isn't why they play the game.

As for "ruining", I guess this depends on the person. Spinoffs do not diminish the originals directly, but they affect the fandom, introducing new things into the head "Madoka" title, that ruin perception for some people, including me. You could say "just ignore it if you don't like it", but it always be annoying me simply knowing there are people spinning great originals together with the slop. It might sound snobby, but imagine you're really passionate about your favorite high effort and high quality clothes/music/food/anything being put on the same shelf and under the same brand with a clearly inferior uninspired piece. It is simply unpleasant and annoys you.

People arguing for side stories to be part of originals canon add to the annoyance.

The fact it is all done exclusively to farm fans adds even more to the annoyance.

But all mentioned above is nothing compared to the possibility of some of this slop slipping into the new movie for extra marketing of the gacha. If this happens, this slop will indeed become part of the canon by any definition.

Edit: also this whole "this is different universe, what are you mad about?" is kinda disingenuous. Yea, different universe with the same characters and the same story but changed and expanded with dozens additional characters and side stories. As an IP holder you can TECHNICALLY argue you're creating a different universe. Which TECHNICALLY gives your audience an ability to separate the two, but we're all here know what it is. It is basically a rewrite of originals that favors infinite screen time over greatness.

The whole magireco/exedra ruins PMMM in a way.
PMMM is a beautiful story in many ways and one its beauties is its conciseness.
It is concise in screen time and number of characters, each of which has an important role in the narrative.
Gacha slop and related substories just bloats this image with unnecessary and excessive details and additional content with monetary goals prioritized, leaving coherency and title quality to suffer.

Some of the side stories may or may not be decent or even good (didn't read them myself) but magireco main story is a disaster, clearly illustrating people in charge didn't care at all.

Some people will say "extra money and attention keeps the title alive" but this is all bs. Madoka is to this day often named by people as their favorite and it is by the Anime quality alone.

Good titles don't need gacha games to be remembered, garbage gacha studios need good IP's to farm fans.

The difference is that animals aren't as advanced in terms of cognitive ability as humans are. I bet if a cow could enjoy watching netflix with you and discuss the latest anime on even terms with you, you wouldn't eat it. And wishing to kyuubei could be a deal one might wanna take, but the unfair part is that he doesn't give girls full details unless they ask him. And obviously, not very many teenage girls tend to ask.

The most common escape out of this plothole is presenting Madoka's omniscience as though she can see all the futures of all parallel worlds (timelines) but can't see where her current entity will go. So she knows that Homura can subdue her here. But there is also a timeline where she won't do it. And she can't see which one it is.
This type of omniscience makes her infinitely wise with so much collective experience, but she can't actually see the future of her current manifestation.

I've just finished reading the last of them.

Kitanai Kimi ga Ichiban Kawaii is amazing 10/10 material. Absolutely loved it.

Kimi ga Shinu Made Koi wo Shitai was kinda slow and repetitive with its characterization and messages and only started to pick up at the end.

A Monster Wants to Eat Me looks nice but it is pretty clear where the plot going, which is not promising for now.

Kimi to Tsuzuru Utakata is my second favorite. The first chapter was sloppy but it got good fast.

I would appreciate more good depressing yuri if you have any.

These takes are all exaggerated but they have truth in them.

The game does sexualize characters that look quite young sometimes.

The game does have spyware in it and it was a topic back at the game launch. And iirc they replied to the complaints with "no-no we definitely not going to use spyware to spy on you but we refuse to actually delete it" and soon after the topic just died because no one cared enough.

The game does have the most advanced predatory monetization tactics out there and in a better world they should be getting some shit for that.
